Says you. I personally thought Brave was better than Frankenweenie, which felt too stretched out for it's own good. My personal pick would be ParaNorman, but again, Brave was at least still a good movie and not worth getting your panties in a twist over.

Why's that? Oh, yeah. Because it's a Pixar film, which guarantees it's an "amazing" movie like its predecessors! You're just being biased like the judges who voted for it to win.

Pretty sure Crab never said it was "amazing" and even said that ParaNorman (which is not a Pixar film) is his/her favourite animated film of the year. I'm pretty sure it's possible to feel Brave is the best animated film of the year without being Pixar-biased. Hey, I think Wreck-It Ralph and The Princess & the Frog were the best animated films of their respective years. Does that make me Disney Animation-biased? I also feel Pixar deserves most of the Oscars they have won in the category in the past (though I would have gone with Frog over Up, but I would have picked Monsters Inc over Shrek).

But, wait, Rio was my favourite animated film of 2011. I guess I'm Blue Sky-biased, too. And Hayao Miyazaki is my favourite animation director, so that means I'm Ghibli-biased. I feel Chuck Jones has made some of the best animated shorts of all-time. That means I'm Warner Brothers-biased.

Look, I'm just sick and tired of Pixar taking home the gold when there are more deserving films.

I'm with you. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but still...

Hello Goose, I'd like you to meet Gander.

As estefan pointed out, I typed that ParaNorman was my favorite of the nominees so I must be Laika biased (There goes your Pixar accusation). I just happen to really like Brave too and am not going to have my blood boil if it wins the Oscar. There is also this thing called being a good sport. It's an attractive trait in us humans. Turning everything we don't agree with into a bloody conspiracy however...is not.

DisneyJedi wrote:If that's the case, I hope Pixar's karma catches up to them. And fast.

That is, if they even have any bad karma that they can't dodge.
The karma can be Monster's Inc. 2 failing like Cars 2 did. But, yeah. Shame on Josh Lassenter (not Pixar, I'm sure that people were angry)! That is downright disrespectful to her. At least, the new director mentioned her. :) He has some respect.

And in addition to "Brave should have lost", look at the comments to the video of Brave winning. A LOT of people are complaining about the choice.

Mark Andrews is SO unlikable... it's baffling. That backstage video was too much for me to get through.

Seriously... Unlikable is the best way to describe him. Because what he's actually saying, for the most part, is perfectly acceptable. Sure, nothing mind blowing, but it's not like the content of his answers was bad... it's really just him. If you picture Walt Disney giving the exact same answers, we'd all love it.

I don't really know what to think of him as a director at this point.

Maybe next year Frozen might take the Oscar. Besides, this year's pixar movie was Monster University and I don't think it'll be eligible.

@Sotiris: I'm really shocked about Brenda Chapman not being invited. I know they didn't like the work she did (and the films itself was a mess to me--not sure who to blame for that one), but a lot of the film is still owed to her. And it won. Wow. Even though I've never really clicked with most of their films, I never thought badly of the people in charge at Pixar themselves. That's just really pathetic.

That's a false argument. You might like many different studios, but only one studio has taken all the awards. The only non-Pixar film to win at the Golden Globes was a Stephen Spielberg film (The Adventures of Tintin). And while it was much more understandable to see Coraline lose to Up, Kung Fu Panda lose to WALL E, and How to Train Your Dragon lose to Toy Story 3--the bias is pretty obvious with Cars and Brave wins.

To be fair, Cars was released in a weak year where the winner of the Oscars was Happy Feet, which doesn't exactly have a great reputation.

That was actually in response to DisneyJedi's claim that Dancing Crab has a Pixar bias.

I haven't even seen Brave yet, but I still don't think I'd like it as much as ParaNorman or The Pirates. Or Wreck-It Ralph, when I finally see it this weekend hopefully.

Meh, still.

I don't know if this makes things better or worse but...
