Cristine wrote:Animation based on a fairy tale written by Hans Christian Andersen, Danish author of classic stories: The Ugly Duckling, The Girl of matches, The Tin Soldier and The Emperor's New Clothes. Although not as well known as the others, at least here in Brazil, "The Snow Queen" has already won several film adaptations. Incidentally, Disney plans to launch its version, called Frozen in November 2013.
As in so many other adaptations, only the "skeleton" of the story was kept, as well as the central characters - with the exception of Omp, the troll, the original tale is that the devil himself. But the tale does not follow to the letter is not a problem, since the film is sustained alone. In this case, the writers took a bath modernity throughout the story, turning a tale of seven acts, full of ethical and moral discussions, almost a fantasy thriller. To enjoy, simply forget the original story, the script face as a new idea and embark on the adventure.
The script has some flaws but nothing that compromises the understanding of the story. About the characters just to say, they are the basic stereotypes of fairy tales: the family of orphans - a brave girl and boy dreamer, the evil queen - complete with a mirror counselor; villain's helper - always a bit muddled and that turns out to be "good"; several people that Gerda meets during his journey - the owner of the greenhouse, the king and his sons, the group of pirates, the good witch, and certainly could not miss a animal - Fight, a ferret - to ensure the necessary level of cuteness.
It is clearly a movie for children. The adults used to the style of Pixar animation screenplays certainly will miss those balconies "for adults only". The tone is less comedy and more of fable. But that does not let the film less interesting to watch. The quality of the animation is very good, considering that it is not a big studio. The opening sequence captures the viewer's attention quite efficiently. The action scenes, except for the exaggeration in the use of slow motion, are compelling and exciting as well. It may well be seen in 2D because the 3D adds little or nothing to the experience of watching the film.
It's a film medium, most of its aspects is average, some a little below. There is nothing that stands out from the whole, nothing that makes the viewer say "Ah, the story is common, but this thing is amazing." Anyway, "is not such a Brastemp" but it fulfills its function well hobby certainly pleasing children and pre-teens.
3/5 stars.
