It does sound like that they have added
Rapunzel's death back in the movie.
Marshall addressed the report, saying, "All of those things are in the film. 'Any Moment' is in the film…Rapunzel’s end is still pretty dark, it’s just a different kind of dark, and it’s just as harrowing, and just as sad."

I'm sorry, but that's wishful thinking.
Marshall also wants to clear up another Woods rumor—that the flick was back in production for reshoots as recently as July. As it happens, Marshall and his team did not re-shoot; rather, they spent three days shooting new material that had been cut and re-added to the script after Disney screened the movie. (The two scenes in question are character flashbacks.)
They didn't refilm that scene. I'm sorry, but she won't die.

I'm actually half glad they cut the song. Because I thought if it was about the Witch wanting Rapunzel to come back, it just didn't fit with the rest of the story, which is that
Rapunzel doesn't come back and the Witch leaves to the world she's from.
And at first I didn't want "Rainbows" in the film either because I thought it put too much in the first half of the film, making it unbalanced, and because it was about the Baker and his Wife thinking they'll be so happy when they get their wish but in the next half they actually are still not happy and fulfilled, but after listening to that demo, I half-wish it was in the film because it does talk about the state of their happiness and their love for each other and mostly because it's just damn beautiful! I didn't want the song because I thought it would be about how the Baker and his Wife aren't happy, and like love isn't enough. But after hearing how beautiful it is and how they do love each other in the song, I may have loved it in the film, though it's probably best it was cut.

But it says a
different kind of dark, meaning not the way it way it was in the script,
a death.

... Wait. So Rapunzel's death won't happen?

No. In the script, they changed her final scene.

She looks so great. I wish they made her have more of a big long witch nose and make her uglier and more like a witch, and maybe more of a long witch chin too, but except for those tiniest things she looks so fantastic. Especially the costume. The thing is Meryl already kind of has a pointy witch-like nose so her transformation to a younger more beautiful self would make more sense I think if she had a more pronounced, uglier, witchier nose before.

This is the best picture of Meryl's ugly form thus far, plus I have read the leaked draft and I have to say, so many Sondheim fans will be pleased with the results thanks to James Lapine.

Meryl Streep as the ugly Witch really should have a (well done, non-over-the-top, non-fake-looking) scarier, witchier nose and chin because she doesn't just want to be beautiful again. Her other reason was so that Rapunzel would not be turned off by her looks, "ashamed of" her looks as the Witch says.

I, too, was hoping for a more Margaret Hamilton-esque witch (not green skinned, though). Hopefully, their makeup choices will work well in the finished project, though.

Meryl's makeup actually looks very good.
As for the rumors, I'm not believing anything I hear until I see the movie, no matter the source. Sondheim already came out about being misquoted, and *obvious spoiler*Rapunzels death coud be portrayed in a lot of ways, even without directly showing it. The trailer even implies it

Hopefully not as scary as the Margaret Hamilton witch! lol But thanks for partly agreeing with me. Her make-up is fantastic, just doesn't have the ugly witchy nose and chin I think is needed.

The original Broadway production is coming to blu-ray

The cover is very deceptive though, and obviously meant to confuse people into thinking they're getting the movie version. Also, seeing as this was filmed tor television in standard definition, don't expect much more than the quality of the dvd.

That is a fantastic poster! Very good! Meryl is a scary Witch there!
The Blu-ray release is obviously just a cash-in because the theatrical version is coming out. The cover is much better in design than the original DVD cover, but you're right DancingCrab, it is misleading people into thinking they will get the theatrical version.

The movie has received a PG rating for thematic elements, fantasy action and peril, and some suggestive material.

Yay even the suggestive material will be in it!
Oh, I forgot, it's totally right that the quality of the original Broadway cast Blu-ray will not be much of a difference from the DVD.

So the MPAA ratings released the Into the Woods rating:
PG: thematic elements, fantasy action and peril, and some suggestive material.
