Meh...but then I had the same reaction to Frozen's teaser.

It's clear Disney isn't making a CLASSIC classic here, just a fun comedy for the spring. If successful this will still end up, at best, very dated and remain in the cult-classic company of The Rescuers, Oliver & Company etc. Hopefully it's not too much like Chicken Little.

Just because it doesn't have a princess doesn't make it not a CLASSIC.

As if only princess movies can be classics.

I literally am not sure what to say about this. All I can hope is that the next few Teasers will help make this look more promising. And I really hope they don't attempt to out-Dreamworks Dreamworks again...

Where exactly did I say anything about princesses? NOWHERE! And you have the nerve to call ME "presumptuous"

No, you presume wrongly about my post. I'm talking about the fact that it is set in the present day equivalent, pop culturally (notice the Fox taking a selfie?), thus it will most likely be dated in time (ala The Rescuers or Oliver and Company)...and won't feel timeless (or at least pre-20th Centuety) ala Bambi or even Robin Hood.... See no need to bring up Princesses

Whether you or anyone likes it or not, movies that root themselves in the time period they were made in have a harder time translating to later generations than ones that are created as either timeless or a recreation of a time long past.

I am kind of happy that Judy will be made the focus character. I mean people have been striving for more female focused non-Disney princess films. I mean the rewrite is kind of inspiring, she is a woman overcoming prejudices against her species. I don't think she will be a Rapunzel/Anna clone but be a professional woman who is working to prove the system wrong.

Disney has done all-animal world movies before, yet something about this feels highly unoriginal.

It seems to be the opposite of that other Fox lead movie, Robin Hood. Where Robin Hood was cheap on the technological side, the character designs and animated drawings were extremely fun and creative....here it looks like we have the latest and greatest technology, but cheaper looking designs mixed in with ANOTHER hate at first site/grow to love or like each other later flick.

I LOVE anthropomorphic storytelling. The Wind in the Willows and Robin Hood are two of my favorites. I'm hoping this is just another uninteresting teaser trailer from WDAS and the actual movie turns out to be a gem.

Disney US / UK trailers are notoriously poop, so willing to ignore this one. Looks fun and cute though, and will see it for Ginny's voiceover work. And I love that picture of her !

LOL. I'm in the camp that thinks that the negative reaction to this teaser has been blown way out of proportion. The whole explainy concept wasn't too original, I won't deny that (and I agree that the "be-fur" thing was cringeworthy, but I have a sneaking suspicion that whoever put the teaser together realizes this), but I didn't find their explanation of "anthropomorphic" to be condescending at all. I don't see why so many people are latching onto that particular portion--the entire teaser was set up as an explanation of very basic concepts. It's a teaser, it is what it is. I don't really find it particularly better or worse than most teasers. In the end, it's just to raise awareness and to tell the masses that this exists. (And I'm genuinely surprised that they released a teaser this early, considering their last few films.) I'm glad they haven't revealed the environments yet, though I'll still remain cautiously optimistic regarding what they do with that.

I actually like the character designs now after having seen them in motion. I actually feel like each of the designs and movements of the characters take on the qualities and characteristics of their respective species a lot moreso than the anthropomorphic characters in the past films. That whole crowd scene displays a much wider range of movement than, say, Robin Hood, even if the characters in that film took on the characteristics of their respective animals to some extent. And I thought the gag with the sloth was actually quite amusing.

How can you compare these designs to Robin Hood?

Robin Hood, the one that ripped off animation from Snow White and the Jungle Book.

If you want generic looking designs go to Madagascar. Prime example. Heck, I'd use Robin Hood as a very blandly designed film honestly.

Not sure why there is so much negativity.

Funny you're saying that, since the crowd scene reminded me of "Robin Hood", actually.

Either way, I won't bitch about the teaser. Most teasers are usually lackluster, so I wasn't expecting much from it. Although I won't jugde this film, it looks like another "Chicken Little".

It seems like the same reactions occur whenever a teaser for a Disney animated film comes out. I remember the teasers for Tangled and especially Frozen were also widely hated around here. I think Big Hero 6 also got an "eh" reaction.

These are just teasers, they're made with the average non-Disney-obsessed moviegoer in mind just to say "Hey, here's a movie we're working on right now."

Sure, but I think the "Tangled" teaser received most flack. I remember it well. It got HUGE amount of criticism, that Disney had gone downhill, ect.

A Disney movie where animals wear clothes and there are no humans... is this a sequel to Robin Hood?

This film will only have 3 weeks to most all of its money at the box office. Either the Revival Era will continue on, if this turns out to be really good. Or come to a crashing halt, if sucks major balls.

I am almost hoping for a "Robin Hood" type opening, except that it's the opening a female-centric crime novel, like a Temperance Brennan or Nikki Heat book.

This would really be Disney's third movie ugh anthropomorphic animals, the second being Chicken Little.

For one, "sly as a fox" doesn't equal "smug jerkass." For another, they've already done this recently with Flynn and, to a lesser extent, Hiro and Naveen.
