^The California STATE Supreme Court struck it down as unconstitutional. We're talking about the FEDERAL Supreme Court. The big cheese. The ones who will make or break this decision, one way or the other. That's where this will be going next. The High Court of the land.

I wish I could tell the court, it's love. Love is the same between man and woman, man and man, woman and woman. If they say only a man and woman's love is worthy of marriage, they are actually de-valuing love and saying it means nothing. I suppose that sounds like a movie speech, touching on the core emotional reason instead of stupid strict scientific physical legal terms. Do I need a scientist to prove the same things straight couples feel is what gay people feel?

^that argument is a double-edged sword if you're going to use it against the right-wing.
to avoid offending anyone, i'll state the reason on request, but publicly.

I agree with you completely but sadly there will always be those who are fundamentally opposed or unable to grasp an idea such as that.

Nor do I, actually. Are you saying you are embarrassed to tell us you have a boyfriend now and thus are a taken soup, again?

This is the gay thread, no?
So who's not surprised Anderson Cooper came out? (:

That he came out? I'm a little bit because I thought he was in because of when he covers stories in rough anti-gay areas but then again he was dropping all kinds of hints on Kathy Griffin's talk show the other week. That he is gay however is about a shocking as a packet of unsalted crackers.

Really? I need to catch Kathy more often!
I saw the first show & I was so bored. And I'm a legit fan. I've seen all of her specials and own seasons 1,4 D-List on DVD but I'm still on the fence about that talk show. (congrats for her mom turning 92 though

)
I understand why he would hide it and he said he wants to be anonymous and just tell stories and get the facts.

Kathy got better with each episode. It's genuinely entertaining now.
As for Anderson, good for him. He has no obligation to anyone to discuss his private life. Does not change anything.

No way? That's good! It's funny because I was worried it was going to get canceled and I don't want that for Ms. Kathy.
I caught that episode with Jane Fonda/Sharon Osbourne and it was pretty good. I felt like she left Sharon in the dust though :/ I mean I get it, JANE FONDA, but damn.
As for Andy Coopy, there's no difference. He's still a great guy.

^Yeah?
It gets annoying because really no one owes anyone an explanation. It's tougher when you're in the spotlight though.
It's almost like "there he confirmed it, are you happy?" but you know people are already waiting for more stories.

I really couldn't care less who is or isn't gay. I think it's silly people have to 'announce' it. If at one time, Cooper had just shown up at some party or something with his boyfriend, we would've known too. I was surprised it made newspaper headlines in The Netherlands when our Secretary of the Treasury came out. I thought we were over that now.

French gay couples get right to 'marry, adopt children'
Gay couples in France will be allowed to get married and to adopt children as of 2013, Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault has announced in parliament. The announcement was part of a keynote speech outlining the new Socialist government's five-year plan. It confirms an election pledge made by President Francois Hollande.
A number of European nations including Germany, Sweden and Britain already allow gay adoption. At present only married couples - not civil union partners - can adopt in France. "In the first half of 2013, the right to marriage and adoption will be open to all couples, without discrimination," Mr Ayrault told parliament. "Our society is evolving, lifestyles and mentalities are changing. The government will respond to that." He announced the news during a keynote speech outlining the government's budget and political agenda.
Gays in France make up 6.5% of the electorate, compared with practising Catholics at 4.5%, according to figures released by pollster Ifop. A survey carried out at the beginning of the year showed 63% of French people are in favour of gay marriage while 56% support gay adoption.
The confirmation of the new law came only days after Paris held its annual Gay Pride parade, which this year was buoyed by the new goverment's promise to legalise gay marriage and adoption rights. In a symbolic gesture, French Minister for Families Dominique Bertinotti turned out to see the parade floats set off.
European nations allowing gay adoption include Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Iceland, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and Britain.

I knew Hollande was one of the 'good guys'. The French are very lucky to have evaded a possible Strauss-Kahn presidency.

Yes, he was.

Like Clay Aiken, everyone knew, but it's still surprising he actually became open about it.

I didn't know he was gay. I just kind of wondered, and
hoped he was.
