Not to get more off topic, but the thought that ran in my head when I read that was, probably because people can still play their DVDs on the Blu-ray players, versus you couldn't/can't play a VHS tape on a DVD player. People already have the media, they just needed the hardware (besides buying new titles in Blu or favorite titles in Blu, for example- people don't need to rebuy their whole catalog if they don't want to).

How long does it usually take if something is announced at CES for it to hit the boards? I'm beginning to lose hope that the Blus were announced at CES.

It would probably hit the boards within minutes to an hour. CES lasts from Jan 7-10th. The announcement may be tomorrow but for all we know, they may not announce anything. I think today was a big day for 3D. Whether its 3D television channels (Direct TV), 3D HDTVs, or 3D Blu-ray Players, today was the chance to push 3D to the press and hopefully the public. Disney chimed in what they had to say about 3D today but tomorrow (or whenever) we may see their Home Entertainment division give their own dedicated presentation that would include upcoming releases. As for now, Disney hasn't had their press conference yet.

I really am not getting Disney this year! Do they not want to tell us what is getting released and when?

I'm beginning to doubt they even know themselves.

Well, I have a feeling that IF Disney has a press conference for their home entertainment division, we will not only learn release dates but probably special features and maybe something else (surprise new Blu-ray feature, who knows). Either way, I'm with you, I don't understand why they've let so much confusion happen with their release schedules.

Calm down, people. Disney usually announces releases on Fridays from what I've seen. If they're gonna announce it at CES, they'll probably do it today.

I agree. I've been out to the digital bits site about 1,000 times today for naught.
The Alice in Wonderland DVD re-release news can't be the ONLY news of today. What about the Diamond editions(s)!!!!! And others! Do you want my money or not, Disney?

Well, apparently what I said was wrong, but there's still two days left. They could be saving it for a big finale announcement. We can only hope...

I'd almost be ready to bet that Disney does make any more announcements at CES. Why you ask? Because they have no clue what they plan on doing themselves.
Disney really sucks at advertising their movies. My friends told me that she would have no clue when Disney is releasing their titles unless I filled her in and the only reason I know about upcoming releases is because I frequent these boards.
However, I don't know, but I seem to think that our questions about Fantasia/2000 & BaTB will be answered when Dumbo comes out.

According to the ad in the Snow White Blu-ray, it's coming in February.

for supposedly only being a month away though, we still have yet to hear of a official release date. At this point, I wouldn't even bet on Dumbo actually coming in Feb anymore.
This whole situation is completely ridiculous.

And Disney hasn't EVER announced something in a print ad for one date and changed it to another....

Oh stop moaning! Come and like over here where releases are often announced a week after release (if at all)

As long as both Blu-rays come out in 2010, I don't think there is much to complain about. I love all three films equally. Alright, that's a lie. Fantasia and it's continuation are my favorite Disney films, but I'm really excited that both the Fantasia's and Beauty and the Beast are both being released this year. They be here, just chillax. I've waited my whole life for a better picture quality for Fantasia and now the time has arrived. I'm cool, calm and collected. I know that they will be here so just everyone calm down. Trust me, I would be much more furious if Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 didn't come out this year than probably anyone else on this forum.

Ditto.

Bad news, T-SoD. They're not coming out until 2020. Disney is planning a big 80th Anniversary promotion for
Fantasia and so they're gonna withhold the film for another ten years to really build up all the hype and anticipation.

Plus, by then they'll have figured out how to incorporate a Synaesthesiac Edition for people with the rare gift of tasting music. (The rest of us get a lousy Smello-Vision version

)
