Ohhhhhh, I say. In Christina Aguilera's song "Back in the Day," she mentions "Lady Day", and I had no idea that it's Billie Holiday!
Yep. She often performed with saxophonist Lester Young and he gave her that nickname.

Lately I've been obsessing over the debut solo single from The Killers' frontman Brandon Flowers; "Crossfire".
I also am really into Maroon 5's latest "Misery". Yeah it's pretty much the same song as "This Love", but Adam Levine singing in his more upbeat voice always makes me happy for some reason.
Also getting a lot of plays on iPod are Ke$ha's latest single "Take It Off", Kylie Minogue's "All the Lovers" and Katy Perry's "California Gurls".
Yeah I'm mainstream. Deal with it.

Still listening to the Billie Holiday box set. I'm only on disc 2 now. I'd probably be farther along, but this came in the mail yesterday and distracted me from it.

Joey, you're gonna love that! I got mine when it first came out in 1996. Isn't that a stunning shot of Judy? You'd also love the Rhino companion CD, Judy Garland in Hollywood: Her Greatest Movie Hits 1936-1963, if you don't already have it!

Yep, that was my first Garland CD if you don't count CD-R's of Carnegie Hall and Classic Judy Garland: The Capitol Years. (I've gotten legit copies of both since.) And yes, it's definitely a gorgeous shot of Judy, and I can't for the life of me understand why Rhino insists on using the booklet image for the cover of all of the digital download versions. I've had MP3's of the set for years, but it's nice to have an actual tangible copy to hold in my hands, just like with the 4-CD Decca set I finally came across at a secondhand shop for peanuts a while back.

This morning, I was listening to the music video of "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun." (Cyndi Lauper, of course!) It is a very infectious and refined rock 'n roll song that is bound and determined to get into your head for the whole day!

I'm not currently listening to anything, but I was listening to Silverchair's Ana's Song over and over earlier. Such a haunting song.

Sammy Davis, Jr.:
Love me or leave me
Come rain or come shine
That old black magic
Stan' up an' fight
Something's gotta give
Body and soul
