Thanks for the award! If I recall correctly, that set required roughly 530 hours of listening/researching/writing/editing/ photographing/photo-editing/formatting time, which is quite a bit more than the typical CD review demands. I'm glad that you guys were able to overlook the nearly year-long wait for it. I'll stop now as there's just no way I can improve upon Loomis' review of this award, which I'll quote again for others -- especially those who only come to a halt at witnessing the wonderful Dick Van to the left -- to enjoy.
Loomis wrote:Also, a big congratulations to the little review that could, Luke's A Musical History of Disneyland: 50th Anniversary. Some said that it would never come to light. Others said it was a mystery best left undiscovered. More still wanted to stuff cats into a bag and throw them in the river. All those people were wrong in different ways. What was right was the power and influence of Luke's A Musical History of Disneyland: 50th Anniversary review. It had style, it had class, it was there - that's how it became the Nanny. Plus, it rocks to see something Disneyland related win an award.

Wow it sure is nice to be nominated for something lol, even if it was for starting a thread that kicked right up a beehive

Anyways Congratulations to Loomis for winning most Controversial thread, and Congratulations to all the winners. The UD awards are fun :)

LOL Loomis, your comments always crack me up. I think I saw your "moods" pic in another thread once. Stitch is my favourite :D

And now, to present the award for Most Intelligent Member of the Year, please welcome <b>Julian Carter</b>!

<hr>

<b>JC</b>: PRESENTING THE "MOST INTELLIGENT MEMBER" AWARD

Julian Carter: "Welcome fellow UDers! Make yourself comfotable as we, er ... I present the award for the most intelligent UD member. Of course, a gifted few within our community possess the one or two extra (functioning) brain cells, and this special condition of the human cerebrum enables the heightning of the said persons' intelligence quotient by a couple of integers..."

Escapay: "Oh! Hurry up Ju! You're killing me! That's one long-ass speech you're giving."

Julian Carter: "In that case, I'm dumping formality. Time for a revolt!!"

Luke: "Actually, Julian, it's me who is in charge of activities around here - so stop acting like the supreme authority. Revolt aborted."

Julian Carter: "Um ... Yes sir Luke sir!"

Luke: "Good."

Julian Carter: "So, we can now proc ... AAAARGH!"

*Loomis has Julian by the neck, threatning him with an army knife*

Loomis: "Vote Loomis! Should my campaign fall on deaf ears, I'll slit his throat!"

Luke: "Really Loomis! There's no need for such violence!"

Julian Carter: (hoarse voice) "Spare him a brain cell!"

Loomis: "And what the hell is that supposed to mean!?"

Julian Carter: "I don't know. Beats me!"

Loomis: "It will soon be time for getting pants-less."

Escapay: "Oh yeah!"

Prudence: "Good Lord!" (faints)

Julian Carter: "Um ... yep. That's interesting! But uh ... can you please stop strangling me?

Loomis: "No."

Julian Carter: "That was terse. Where on earth is that kung-fu Chuck Norris-like Luke when you need him!? Somebody help me! Damsel in distress!

*dead silence*

Julian Carter: "Well, since everyone is so keen on saving me from the clutches of a psychopath, I guess I can reveal the winner now. But first, the nominees are...

2099net
AwallaceUNC
Disneykid
Escapay
ichabod
Loomis
Luke

The lucky UDer is..."

Loomis: "Spit it out!"

Julian Carter: "Gasp! Splutter! Ahem ...

Everyone: "What!?"

Loomis' blood pressure falls and he collapses. Advantage: Julian Carter doesn't die. Disadvantage: Julian Carter must perform CPR on the Loomis.

Luke: (losing patience) "Listen guys, the winner is..."

OK. Fine. I'll present it myself!

The honor of "Candydog of the Year" is one of the ceremony's most treasured and desired awards. It may only be bestowed upon a few. Today we honor, exhault and worship a young man who makes the world a better place for all of us, a ray of hope, a light at the end of the tunnel. This year's candydog of the year award goes to:

CANDYDOG

Congratulations candydog! Best wishes for the future! You're a true inspiration! :)

Goshdarnit. If random violence and hardcore campaigning doesn't make you look intelligent, then what hope is there.

Congratulations Netty, even if you'll never visit this thread. We know you are a busy little Englishman, so I'll celebrate with random Snickers bars. Despite the fact that Australians are generally meant to look down on the English, especially during the cricket season, you're ok by me. :)

Also, congratulations, candydog. As the winner of the Loomis award several years running, I know the pure joy of winning a eponymous trophy.

Now, who do I have to sleep with to win Member of the Year?

I'd have to agree with you. This thread has become a travesty with the same 5 posters posting frivoulous posts that do nothing to enhance the forum, and leave most other members confused. Really, do we need a congragulations post by some members after every award. Is post count really gone? I'm afraid it isn't after viewing this thread.

I'll step aside. Last year I had 2 nominations. This year none, and I'm happy. I don't need to win a popularity contest between new members.

Also, I'd congragulate the winners, since most of them are worthy, especially Escapay. :thumb:

Oh, and thanks Awallaceunc, you've done a great job with this. :)

Well after some surgery to remove a Golden Mickey from somewhere I don't wish to discuss, (you know that's the second time I've needed surgery because of these God damn awards), I'm here to accept the award for most intelligent member of 2099net's behalf.

Well what to say about Netty he swoops in spreading knowledge around, mostly related to Doctor Who and often talks in such highly intelligent jabber, we're sure only he knows what he's going on about.

Dictionary.com decribes intelligent in 5 ways:

1. having good understanding or a high mental capacity; quick to comprehend, as persons or animals

It's the 'as animals' part which draws me to Netty, he searches the internet like a malnourished badger, looking for information with which to share with us, (again mostly about Doctor Who). He does indeed have a high mental capacity, well in comparison to most of the slack-jawed morons that swing by this place!

2. displaying or characterized by quickness of understanding, sound thought, or good judgment: an intelligent reply.

Ah, yes. Often we only start a thread to hear what Netty's intelligent reply will be. Whereby he uses his good judgement and sound thought to give an evenly balanced review of <strike>the latest episode of Doctor Who</strike> topic for debate.

3. having the faculty of reasoning and understanding; possessing intelligence: intelligent beings in outer space.

I think I need not elaborate on the outer space part.

4. Computers. pertaining to the ability to do data processing locally; smart: An intelligent terminal can edit input before transmission to a host computer.

Is Netty a man, or is he merely a machine. The Netty we know and love could simply the intelligent mind of nothing but a computer. Yes, Netty himself may have been the blueprint for the movie Tron. Thus with a heavy heart I must warn you, do not trust Netty. Do not anger, annoy or disagree with him just in case he is an almighty computer programme that will delete all your files!

5. Archaic. having understanding or knowledge.

Netty is old, there's no denying that. I'm entirely sure I'd go as far as calling him archaic! In fact when gazed upon the word that leaps to mind is 'wizened'. His wrinkled brow a sign that he has spent far to long contemplating the possibilities of a real life Doctor Who. His grumpyness, weak bladder, false teeth and the fact he describes the Nintendo Wii as goshdarned newfangled madness, shows that Netty is probably not long for this world. Therefore before the old codger bites the dust, raise your glasses to 2099net!

I have been watching and laughing and being totally entertained by the goings on here, and want to extend my heartiest congratulations to all the winners and those who were nominated should also consider themselves winners.

These awards are very good, and I think Aaron should be commended for all the hard work that he has been putting in for this program.

Sure it is long, and sometimes a litte drawn out, but if you were even nominated, wouldn't you like your five minutes in the spotlight? Let's just let the show move on at its own pace. It is probably the best entertainment you will ever get for the price you paid.

Let's all sit back and enjoy the show!!! Party on UDers, it your time to shine.
