Hopefully if a new deal between Pixar and Disney is reached in the near future, maybe the current work on Toy Story 3 will be scrapped and moved back to Pixar. Doing Toy Story 3 without Pixar is like buying a car without wheels, it's stupid and irresponsible.

What I meant to say is that the Rescuers Down Under, is the only sequel to a Disney Classic Movie, that actually has an improvement, specially in the characters design and also in the story.

Again with the purism. Disney is out to make money, tons of it. As long as they are making them, I'll be buying !!! Bring 'em on

Yeah they sure out to make a ton of money and while I'm sure they are all for the money it's obvious the quality of some projects isn't the highest of priorities.

If you take time, make something great that can stand the test of time then you can have success with that project in the future. If you are looking for a quick fix for money and release crap it'll just be forgotten over time.
Sometimes I wonder what people's opinions of some Disney movies/projects will be in 50 years time. Which movies will be forgotten, horribly edited, and which ones will still be seen as shining examples of great Disney magic.

I can see some DTV movies being fogotten and pretty obscure as well as some of their Disney Channel movies.
Some of their Disney shows and movies will be seen as turn of the millennium cheese or fun nostalgic relics.
I wonder in 50 years what things will be considered so outdated and politcally incorrect and have to bed edited for kids. Society may be a lot more open but who knows things could take a turn into major conservatism.

Ah well when I'm 70 I'll find out I guess. :)

EDIT: Oh and if you read this reyquila I agree with your signature and say that a lot (maybe not here but I do)... 3D animation is great but it lacks soul.

Editing for political corectness should be made illegal be the supreme court.

It looks like Disney and Pixar are teaming up again to work on Toy Story 3.

Toy Story 3 & 4

Thanks for posting in my Tigger thread. I hope to get more opinions before I state my own.

Anyway, as you all probably know, TS3 is set to come out in the summer of 2008 (that's a long time from now).

Toy Story 3 - the Buzz Lightyear action figures are recalled after the company finds a malfunction in its electronics. Our Buzz is somehow found and shipped to Tokyo, Japan. The toys in Andy's room gather together and set up a rescue mission to go and get him, Woody being their leader.

Toy Story 4 - ?????????

Any theories on what the fourth one will be about?

I pray to God that the forth one never goes into production, and that the third one is done right. Disney is almost back together with PIXAR, so when everything is back to normal, I hope they will be involved in Toy Story 3. Toy Stories 1 and 2 were excellent films, and I don't want a bad sequel to be associated with them, which is why I want PIXAR to be involved with it in some way.

What exactly caused them to become enemies in the first place?

I think that it started with Toy Story 2. After Toy Story and A Bug's Life, Pixar signed a five picture deal with Disney. Toy Story 2 was originally supposed to be a DTV and was not supposed to count toward the five picture deal but do to the huge positive response, it was released to theatres. Pixar then wanted it to count toward the five year deal but Disney would not allow it thus leading to the breakup.

I really think that 2 is enough toy story

Besides, the plot of the 3rd sounds to me very alike to the 2nd one, just buzz changed for woody

Yeah, I don't think they could create another great plot like Toy Story 2.

Count me in as one who wants a Toy Story 3.

Disney needs an awesome animated trilogy, and if Shrek is going to get a 3rd film and a 4th one, than Toy Story deserves on too! :D

As for what it could be about, I recall a rumor that "Meet the Fockers" writer had a plan to make a story about Andy's mom dating, and the toys then had to deal with a whole different gang of toys.

That's not half bad actually, but I don't think it'll be able to develop enough to be better than the first two movies.

I agree with what "Isidour" was saying, so I really hope that story line is changed!

I know the plot for Toy Story 4! :P :D

Mr. And Mrs. Potato Head have three baby potatos.
They rae happy parents until one day Buzz pushes one by
mistake out the window and this leads to a round about search
in the neighbor hood. Woody leads this search because he does
a better job in searching for missing toys!

As long as John Lasseter and the Pixar crew are involved in Toy Story 3 I won't be TOO worried about it :)

Well, I'll watch it, but I still think Disney should focus more on original pictures. I mean, setting up a CG animation studio solely for making Pixar sequels, come on! I just wish things could be like they were back in the 90's, when Disney didn't need to throw out sequel after sequel just to make some money.

I want a toy story 3 only if
-The voice cast returns
-The Pixar gang returns

but I do agree and wish that disney still made good handrawn films
