Yes, it's great. Right now it still has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes with 58 reviews and an average rating of 8.2. And I'm sure it's going to be a financial success too. According to various websites the film is expected to open between $70 million and $80 million for the five-day holiday. If, as they have said, this is Musker and Clements' last film, I'm glad they are going to end their careers with a success after The Princess and the Frog didn’t do as well as it was expected. I would also like to see the two directors winning an Oscar, but it will most likely go to Zootopia and it will be well-deserved.

By the way, according to a website Moana has a post-credits scene:
There’s a small bonus scene at the end that’s worth staying for. We won’t spoil its contents now, but we believe the snippet is fun enough to warrant a few extra minutes in the theatre.

Plus there’s an Easter egg embedded in one of the graphics shown during the credits, so you can occupy yourself trying to look for that (Hint: “Wreck It Ralph”).

Well, I'm not. I absolutely REFUSE to see any Disney movie that isn't handdrawn and this film is, to me, a waste of Eric Goldberg's talents. Animating tatoos is a sign that handdrawn animation's legacy is "preserved" or "being brought back"? Give me a break. I haven't seen any of Disney's CG films since Frozen (even though I will make an exception for Big Hero 6) and I have no intention of EVER seeing this one. The only animated films I'll ever see in theaters are handdrawn ones, regardless of who they're from. I dream of the day when handdrawn will be relevant again and for an outsider to shake things up.

Sorry about this rant, but I can't stand all this hoopla of Moana being used as a case of "preserving" handdrawn because IMO, it's not true at all.

I barely trust professional reviews in general anymore considering they make over nearly everything with Lasseter's name involved, even when I hate the movie, so... I'll wait for reviews from people/places I generally agree with before getting my hopes up. I should be seeing it sometime early December with my sister/mother as a birthday get-together.

Sorry, I had to blow off steam.

I don't actually have anything against CG animation, I just don't like seeing it favored over handdrawn. That's one of the reasons I gravitated toward Japanese Anime and even Don Bluth's upcoming Dragon's Lair movie. Maybe there will be a time when handdrawn animation will become big again in the States but I feel glad about the fact that there are other alternatives to fill the gap for handdrawn animation.

I was just angry. I didn't mean anything.

^It's fine, JTurner Just don't overboard like the others in the past :)

As for the post-credits scenes, it wasn't there when I saw it, which was so weird. I told Jared Bush and he was so confused too

'Moana' poses challenges for The Rock, newcomer Auli'i Cravalho
http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/movi ... /94141906/

We pre-ordered tickets on Fandango for a 9:20 showing tonight (I'm working until 7, and am hoping I'll stay awake!). I've only been listening to the soundtrack in the car since Tuesday last week. I am so excited!

We saw it last night and everyone loved it. Lots of heart, the music worked well and there even seemed to be a bit of 2D beyond the tattoos.

There were a few times where Moana looked and sounded a lot like Rapunzel. And We Know the Way was oddly placed (like maybe in a prior version of the script it appeared elsewhere, they then reworked the story, didn't want to cut the song and thought that was a good place to try to squeeze it in).

One surprise for me was Shiny. I didn't expect to like that scene very much, but found myself chuckling quite a bit throughout.

IMO, the songs work better in the film than they do just listening to the soundtrack. Lyrics that might seem odd work with what is going on in the story at the time.

And Auli'i Cravahlo really turned in a great performance. I don't recall ANY cringeworthy delivery which I half expected given her lack of formal training (i.e. Like the "then who . . . was that . . . dancing with Lottie on the dancefloor?" in TPatF.)

I just figured out that since the film is called Vaiana in my country I have to suffer through an English language version of the movie where every time her name is mentioned they dubbed it into Vaiana. I had hoped they would limit that to the Dutch version only but the copyright issue forced Disney to have everyone record lines that included 'Moana' twice. Including the songs

Which means Auli'i also belts "I am Viana" in the version I will see next week... maybe she won't go off key in this one?

Saw it in 3D at the local AMC Theatre.

The story was exciting, the CGI rendering was beautiful, and the music was great. Like with many Disney movies, I avoided reviews so as not to get hit with spoilers.

This was a decent effort from Ron Clements and John Musker. Might need a re-watch to see how it stacks up against their other movies.

Disney Brazil and Disney Spain built an interactive website in collaboration with Spotify where you can select the country of origin of a Disney movie and listen to its soundtrack.

I didn't come in with high hopes, but I absolutely loved it! Maui wasn't obnoxious like I thought he would be and he actually reminded me a lot of the Genie. I was also afraid that Moana would be a Rapunzel knock-off but she isn't at all and feels really authentic. The songs work much better in film than in the soundtrack as some other people have said and I really enjoyed them all. I was afraid about the anachronisms, but they didn't bother me that much in film like I felt with Tangled and even a little with Frozen.

BTW, Little Mermaid fans should stick around for the end-credits scene.

Oh man, I got back from seeing the movie but I am in love with the song "Shiny", it's really so catchy and David Bowie like.
