This isn't pinning all my irritation on Kristen Bell, this video is just an example, but it it annoys the heck out of me when each new Disney Princess comes along, they automatically rubbish their successors. Newer doesn't always equal better. Disney does this constantly with their female characters and it really ticks me off.
(I just came across this video when searching for Frozen interviews etc; felt compelled to post it here when she does " " with a slight scrunched up face).
I love Anna & Elsa, I think they are brilliant characters to add to the Disney roster, but they aren't better than others that have gone before them. Just different.
On a similar note, I really dislike it when they describe a new Disney princess as unique simply because she doesn't behave princessy. Like Tiana was described as unique because she had personal goals beyond romance, Merida was the antithesis to the "normal" heroine, and Anna was clumsy and awkward. But all three are not atypical characters.
I think the last female lead to want a guy was Ariel; every one since had other ambitions.
Merida, contrary to Pixar's claims, is not the first rebellious princess.
And Anna is not the first cutsey bubbly girl; that would be Rapunzel from three years prior.
The newer Disney princesses are all proclaimed to be different and fresh, but with the possible exception of Elsa (as she is more introverted than the others), they are pretty typical characters in modern films.

I agree! 'I wanted to break the mold of the Disney princess', give me a break, Kristen Bell. This interview makes me mad.
Give it six months and Anna and Elsa will be covered in glitter and jewels on tacky merch with bad clip art just like the other Disney Princesses, that's if they aren't relegated to the back (although I admit not likely to happen given the films success). I'd hardly say Anna breaks a mold - dead parents (bar Rapunzel), oppressed (Tiana, Mulan, Rapunzel....), and she fell in love with Hans on first sight - just like Aurora, Cinderella, Snow White....the list continues. At least they had the good sense to not fall in love with a Villain. I'm also sure Ariel and Rapunzel did the whole cute and quirky thing.
Not trashing the film - I love it but Disney Princesses all have major similarities in their back story no matter how much Kristen Bell would like to think otherwise.

So, we're not talking about Frozen, being on Broadway already?!
The Broadway musical for Frozen's time frame is just like Lion King and Beauty and the Beast's
Beauty and the Beast-Movie: 1991, Broadway: 1994
Lion King, 1994, Broadway, 1997
And now, Frozen: 2013, Broadway: 2016????
So, not surprised. And beyond thrilled.

And I hope they, AT LEAST, have Josh Gad back for the show. (I think he will, he is so proud of the movie.)

What I'd really be curious to see in a Frozen stage adaptation would be how they'd do Olaf. I can see Elsa's magic working if they used a LOT of fake snow and cool lighting (which I would imagine would be a pain to clean up between scenes but whatever) but Olaf...I'm just imagining Josh Gad in a huge snowman suit. That's terrifying.

Who should play Anna?
I think Laura Osnes (who's currently playing Cinderella on Broadway) would make a great Anna.

I'll just stick with the regular Blu Ray Combo Pack given I don't even have a 3D Blu Ray Player and I don't want to go out of my way to get the 3D Combo Pack

Personally, It doesn't matter to me if the 3D blu-ray gets delayed, only cause I made a deal with a friend. lol
I told her that I'd get the Disney Store Lithographs exclusive (even though those lithos are terrible) and when the 3D blu-ray comes out I'd sell her my existing copy. Works well for me since I don't have a 3D tv anyways (future proofing)
I just can't imagine what it's like for people who didn't go to the movie in 3D just to see it at home in 3D... such sadness, much sympathy..

Personally, I prefer watching 3D movies on my panasonic TV more than in the theaters. Most of the time in theaters, I forget I'm even watching 3D, but for some reason everything just pops more on my plasma.
Having said that, Frozen is one of those films that did look great in 3D in theaters, so I can only imagine how pretty it's going to look on blu-ray 3D. If it's an exclusive somewhere, it will be worth the extra drive and money for me to not wait.

I don't agree with that at all. I think at least 70% of them are nice, strong characters. I like Elsa, Anna, Rapunzel, Tiana, Ariel, Cinderella, Pocahontas, and Snow White (to varying degrees). Even Belle and Mulan I'm only ambivalent towards. Jasmine and Aurora are the only ones I find bland and awful. Disney has always been best with its female characters (both villainess and heroine), imo. Only in the past two decades have they really started to create interesting male heroes/villains.

I went to see it for a second time with my grandmother who didn't get a chance to see it and she loved it.
Although I kind of expected her to love it because she herself is a longtime Disney fan.
The song "Frozen Heart" is kind of growing on me for some reason.

went again today with mum. they had moved the movie to a different room for screening, as the last one only held 130. the one today holds over 200 and was pretty full. a few empty seats dotted around, but not many.
quite a few boys in, including a very large and imposing dad with half a football team in sons, and a group of 4 or 5 tweenagers. i was surprised and pleased to see it. there was also a holiday program there, which, if we had known, we would have picked a different screening. we thought 12.30 would be quieter, being lunch time.
one little kid up the back nearly had a melt down [har har] when sven fell into the water towards the end. think she thought was gone for good. another kid across the aisle was chattering through most of it. was able to ignore the bulk, but picked up her saying "i love cinderella. shes my favourite. i have her movie at home" which was quite sweet.
the reception of get a horse was better this time round. mum loved it and even spotted oswald
on the whole mum enjoyed it, except for the amount of songs, whereas i found them easier to accept this time, and can see i will grow more used to them with more viewings. she especially loved sven. seeing it again, i was able to notice things i missed last time. nothing major, just details of the animation, like when elsa thinks anna is dead and stops the storm, how all the flakes are stuck in their place. didnt notice that last time.
on a note... the family in the sauna. "hoo hoo" guy actually refers to them as "hi family" or similar. and they all say "hoo hoo" the same. so im guessing his brother's family? [blonde guy could be his brother etc]

Kristen Bell saying she never saw Disney princesses like her growing up is true though. I don't know why anyone would be offended by that. Her personality basically IS Anna's personality which is why it worked so well, and none of the others were that awkward/clumsy/goofy like she said. She still says being in a Disney movie was a dream come true because she grew up loving them so much.

Only last night did I understand how successful Frozen is. I thought it still had ways to go to surpass Tangled but as I discovered it's only second to TLK

.
Btw, winning the Golden Globe is nice, but -let's be honest- the Croods was a turd (I haven't seen Despicable Me 2 but, like the first I doubt it will keep me interested).

That would have been a better couple than Anna and Kristoff.
Edit: About Kristen Bell, yeah I'm annoyed, but Disney always does the same propaganda for their new characters (only the females though) "Oooh Anna/Merida is totally kewl because she's not like the typical Disney girls, not like those silly Cinderella/Aurora/Snow White princesses, so rad!".
Funny how Disney always trashes their past. And funny how it's only for the female characters/princesses, I don't recall Wreck It Ralph having this propaganda.

Hmmm, disagree
Anna x Kristoff are adorables <3
Just the way Kristoff fights for Anna and to make sure that she's okay, is both heartbreaking and sweet.

Naah I personally never caught into that.
Otoh people are saying now that it's racist that Frozen's album beat Beyonce's album in sales, because she's a black woman whose been thrown off her "throne" by white people, or that Frozen won the Golden Globe is racist because it's a film done by white people.

Tumblr again? The ignore function is your best friend, I've ignored more than 500 people and rarely come across bullshit anymore.

I've really never considered using Tumblr, but to hear about the looney people on it against Frozen makes me just want to stick to Facebook And Twitter
