My favorite Disney films are:
Peter Pan
The Little Mermaid
The Lion King
The Rescuers
A Bug's Life
The second one and the last two are ones I enjoy because of memories. The first and third movies are on my list of favorites because they're such good movies.

Well in May I'm getting Pocahontas 10th Anniversary Edition and The Parent Trap Special Edition. I had taped the remake of The Parent Trap but I'm getting the DVD.

Not as a first priority. Both the films and the releases are much poorer in quality compared to the more "classic" features that are released...

I know. I only saw about 3 of the 1970s live action. I don't know how good the others are. I have one on DVD, one on VHS and the other one I taped.

Well, they're fun movies in general, but Disney doesn't seem to think so, so aside from
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, we get crappy Gold Collection releases with yucky transfers and poopy extras.
So whilst I recommend the actual films, I'm not too sure about the DVDs as they're pretty poor. Hopefully Disney is reading this and will release a Masterpiece/Special Edition of
Robin Hood and
The Rescuers. I'd be willing to double-dip over the pieces of junk I bought.

Surely Pooh should be the one to have the poopy extras?

Since I have not seen Pocahontas, as well as a number of other Disney releases, I figured I would start this thread, called "Should I buy, or should I rent?"
It could be a place where people post their question about buying or renting a Disney movie, and ask the advice of the community.
So, here's the first post under this thread.
Having not seen Pocahontas, should I buy the 10th Anniversary Edition, or rent it? Keeping in mind that I LOVE alot of Disney animated films, but a majority of my favorites are from the period of The Little Mermaid to The Lion King. I also really liked Tarzan, and picked up the Collector's Edition of that film.
I await your advice. Thanks!

Do you consider yourself to be a Disney DVD collector?
If so, buy.
Did you like Tarzan a lot?
If so, rent then buy.
(Then again, I can't compare this movie to Tarzan..
)
I really think you should buy this DVD; that way you can also enjoy the bonus disc forever..and of course, the slipcover (just kidding on that part.
)

However, if you will buy this, I suggest getting it the week of its release as that's usually the "cheapest" price.
And Meeko and Percy are adorable and worth watching.

The DVD looks awesome but the movie is just so-so. Sure Meeko and Percy are cool characters, but the rest of the movie was kind of boring and aside from the villian songs(
) I didn't care for the music. Plus I wanted a happier ending.

i think if you really like THE LITTLE MERMAID,BEAUTY AND THE BAST,ALADDIN,TARZEN
you should really own POCAHONTAS,
my two reasons are
music,to me,POCAHONTAS is Alan Menken's finest work
and then is animation,POCAHONTAS to me is also Glen Keane at his best after he did Aladdin,Beast and Ariel, and then he did Tarzen aftet Pocahontas.

Well, it looks like most people suggest buying this release. I am sure I will enjoy it, so I will be looking for the best price, and pick it up.

I say rent it. You might really enjoy it or not. So instead of purchasing a blind buy, and finding out you spent $20 on a movie you don't really enjoy, rent the movie and make your own opinion of it.
If you like it, great! Go get a copy. If not, well.. then you're only missing a few dollars out of your wallet.
