I just bought Ghost In The Shell, 2nd GIG, Complete Box Set so hopefully will get around to watching it on the weekend.
BTW, do you consider Avatar, The Last Airbender to be anime?

Not to be rude, but Escapay took out the time to find those anime threads so a new one didn't need to get started. You could respect Escapay's effort and at least post in those ones.

I seen them, not the second one but I'll guess I'll think harder next time, I tend not to bump threads with ? on the end because they are more like questions...

Oh, I forgot about Speed Racer. That one wasn't bad. Wasn't that the very first anime ever made? (correct me if I'm wrong)

No it wasn't. Astro Boy was one of first anime made.

Thank you, Siren.
It especially pains me when a veteran member actually admits to having done a search, but opted NOT to bump up a new thread just because it sounded like a question. Apparently the question was answered and a discussion ensued, so what would be the problem?

You and I share some pet peeves, what can I say?

I was introduced to anime the way many girls of my age were. I was around seven or eight years old. My friend Bea had bunches of Sailor Moon videos. She wanted to be Sailor Moon, and had declared her younger sister Sailor Mars. (Her younger sister is so much more like Naru, Usagi's school girl friend, but I digress.) At any rate, you know how young girls tend to be. "Watch this with us and then we can play Sailor Moon!" I decided I wanted the role of Sailor Mercury, but this was based on some very poor seven or eight-year-old logic:
1) In the first video I saw, there was a scene in which a villain drained and knocked out all of the Sailor Senshi, save Usagi herself. Ami was the last to fall. She had put herself directly in front of Sailor Moon. The villain yelled out, "Stand back, Mercury! It's not you I want!" These are words that I had more or less heard spoken to me, and still hear spoken to me. Mercury's brand of loyalty and devotion to the moon princess won me over.
2) She was the stereotypical "smart one," which is what I was known for being as a child. I wasn't truly a nerd, but people considered me extremely precocious, and I wore glasses- I've inherited my father's vision, was and still am a grade advanced, and I used large words around my little friends all the time. Thus, "the smart one."
3) I liked the blue hair. A shallow reason, to be sure. To this day, I tend to prefer anime characters with blue hair. Hair colors can be symbolic in anime, and I said this summer that if someone were to create an anime based on my family, it would be about a lot of blue haired people written in the Azumanga Daioh style.
Thus, my anime story. I'm not anime's number one fan by a long shot, but there you go.

With the exceptions of Sailor Moon and Digimon I never liked watching anime or reading manga. Though it is fun to draw.

This forum much different than the other ones I go to as in those, they don't like bumping threads. I was kinda surprise about that.

To keep the peace and the Tracker's sanity, I have merged all the Anime threads into this one. I have also renamed this thread, so everything related to Anime can be discussed here, without the need to create anymore Anime threads.
As I am not fond of Anime, I don't have anything relevant to add to this topic. I'll let those of you who are fans get back to your discussion.

Could you add "Manga" to the title? Manga is the Japanese equivalent of American Comic Books & Graphic Novels, and a large percentage of anime is based on Manga, or (less often) once an anime is made, a manga is made based on the anime.

No problem, littlefuzzy. I've made the title change for you.

How can anime be so popular?

What is about Japanimation... oh, I'm sorry, anime... that makes it so popular? I mean, I don't get it. Why is it clogging up the airwaves all the time? At least cartoon airwaves?

What makes anime so popular, I'll never know! I personally don't understand how it can rob us of some good cartoon shows.

1. Please don't use the term "Japanimation" ever again. It's either anime or Japanese anime ("anime" means "animation" in Japanese, it doesn't mean a certain style - it's just animation - in other words, when you say "anime" in Japan, you could be referring to any type of animation.)
2. It's not clogging up the airways. It's a great artform. For someone on a Disney forum, I'd think you'd know more about it since Disney distributes the Studio Ghibli films here in the U.S. (please don't tell me you don't who they are.)
3. People like it. What's wrong with that? Sorry it's not your typical Disney animation.
