I missed the beginning and a little throughout, but I’m going to try to watch it again when it re-airs. I thought it was very pretty—prettier than the movie in a lot of ways, actually. I thought the new character was the best part of the episode, surprisingly. She had chemistry with the two leads and her design is great. The voice actor for the King was really distracting, just because I associate him with Jak II. :P Levi sounded a lot different from the film? There was a background character who looked similar to Esmeralda during the little flashback while the King is talking to Rapunzel (when she's wearing the wig).

Btw, I know it’s unlikely for a children’s show, but is it possible Menken could be nominated for an Emmy if something from the Tangled series is any good?

This was actually very good for what it is.

The animation was surprisingly lovely and dynamic. I'm sure it'll be a little cheaper for the actual tv series, but it looked great for this. Even the action scenes were well done. I loved the night time animation.

Having the original voice cast adds a lot, and the new additions were fun too.

The songs were pretty good. I liked Eugene's part of the first more than the other characters, but Rapunzel's second song was better and more memorable.

This is exactly the type of thing Disney channel needs more of.

^I hate that they spoiled that during the ad breaks! what if she's the one who set up the ground spikes? :x

anyway I enjoyed it and it made for a cute continuation for the film. Loved Cass. Eugene still annoys me for some reason(I think it's the actor's voice, especially when he does that whiny "oh, come on!" thing, makes me cringe! I hope to see more Lady Jane! Its nice to have a young attractive female Disney villain for a change.

glad I wasn't the only one who noticed that!

gosh yes! for the first time in years Im actually watching the Disney Channel(this, Lion Guard, Elena of Avalor and the Descendants shorts) instead of avoiding it like the plague!

It's impressive, because for once, this spinoff feels more like they're building up on the characters and the setting from the original, rather than making a cashgrab as had been customary for many past series/sequels.

Yeah, I'm shocked they gave that away. Extra surprised that MG is coming on the show so early. I was thinking that the gloves were her.

Agreed! It really did feel like a sequel.

I agree too. Sometimes while I was watching it I wished they had made an actual sequel with this material instead of a series. But it's actually more suitable for a TV series, and I'm glad it's not a theatrical release because I prefer WDAS to do original films instead of sequels.

I had two minor issues, though. First, that Rapunzel's father seems to have suffered a big change from the original movie. He looked much more understanding in Tangled. Though, to be fair, we don't get to know him much there, so it can still be believable he always had this personality and we didn't know it, and I understand they needed a conflict between him and Rapunzel for the story. My other issue is that it left too many things unresolved, and for that reason, as a standalone film it didn't feel as complete as The Lion Guard TV movie, for example. But all in all, it was very good and definitely did its job of making you want to watch the series.

I'm not a big fan of "Tangled", but I really enjoyed this movie!

And my favorite song was the mash-up of both songs at the end:

Wow! The pilot was impressive! I never thought I'd enjoy it that much. Somehow, everthing turned out right. Gorgeous art, great music and the story added depth to the characters. Hopefully the rest of the series willl be as good. :milkbuds:

The song "More of Me" from the end credits of the TV series is now available on Spotify, Amazon, iTunes, Google Play, Napster, and Tidal. The song was written by Andy Dodd and Dewain Whitmore Jr. This is the second time Menken & Slater weren't allowed to write an end-credit song for Tangled. Is it because Disney doesn't think they can write a pop song? That's just insulting.

Oh, I love Natasha Bedingfield. And, yes, the lyrics remind me of several her songs. Hopefully I like the song itself. I assume when they say end credits song, it'll play at the end for the entire series?

(I'm glad I read the article because now I know Bedingfield finally has a new album coming...)

Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi Preview Disney's New 'Tangled' Animated Series
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/behind ... ies-988154
Disney has been creating live action versions of its classics such as Beauty and Beast. Would you like to do a live action version of Tangled?

Levi: We are staking our claim right now!

Moore: I’m putting that out in the universe!

Sonnenburg: I would love to do a live-action version, if it made sense for the story!

^You know, I think a live-action version of Rapunzel could actually improve on the Disney film quite a bit (starting with calling it "Rapunzel"). And maybe with directors who don't resent the fact that their film's a musical, Menken could deliver the soundtrack that story deserved.

I liked the new episode (although they didn’t play an end credits song). I hope the little inventor/alchemist kid is a recurring character. Honestly, they’re pretty good at introducing the new characters. I’m not too fond of Rapunzel’s parents though. I think this might end up being a decent TV series.

I'm glad to see the quality from the tv movie has stayed in the first episode of the show. It's beautiful.
