Is the above look supposed to be one of Cruella's looks from the movie? It doesn't seem like Cruella at all, from the hair to the clothes to even her walk.

I think so, that's what the articles say. Plus she has read hair and the look is similar to
the previous one we got.

Who's that trashy old English lady?

'Cause that's not Cruella.

So we have a redhead Cruella and now a blonde Cruella too. Because that's exactly what the fans wanted.

But seriously, I think maybe Cruella was prone to trying her hair every color to try whatever's fashionable before landing on the infamous black and white.

Glenn Close ‘Can’t Wait’ to See Emma Stone Succeed Her as Cruella de Vil
https://www.msn.com/en-us/movies/celebr ... ar-AAJQQ9o
Close, 72, exclusively told Us Weekly at Through Her Lens: The Tribeca Chanel Women’s Filmmaker Program Luncheon in New York City on Monday, November 4, that Stone, 30, hasn’t contacted her since landing the villainous role in the upcoming film Cruella, and Close is “not at all” surprised.
“She has two movies to look at,” the three-time Emmy winner added. “She doesn’t have to talk to me.”
Close also told Us she hasn’t been approached for a cameo in the 2021 film, and she’s not bummed about it. “I can’t wait to see what she did,” she said. “My Cruella was that, and we’ll see something new.”

Really disappointed Glenn Close isn't involved with the project anymore. That confirms Cruella being a reboot and not a prequel. How can the filmmakers not even approach her for a cameo though? That's so disrespectful. That's the bare minimum you do out of courtesy to the actress and the legacy that came before you. Not to mention being considerate to your fanbase. Fans would have loved to see Glenn in the film in some capacity and there's no way the filmmakers don't know that.

If, as it seems, this new film is a reboot, maybe they didn't want her to have a cameo in the movie in case that would've led people to believe it was a prequel to Glenn's movies. But I agree, they should've offered her at least a cameo.

Yes, I think that doesn't seem out of character. Personally, I don't have a problem with it.

Well, I see why Glenn, and you guys, care about her being in the movie, but Glenn Close's unsurprised reaction is like mine. I don't feel like her role in the original is the stuff of legend or film history. It was just a really good performance in a film that I don't think really has that big a fan base or any classic status.

That's how I feel, too. Close was definitely a bright spot in the live-action remake, but I can also understand the filmmakers wanting this new film to be separate from that incarnation. Close didn't create the character nor is she the first actress to play Cruella, so it's not like she owns the role. Emma Stone is apparently taking more inspiration from the animated film's version on the character, anyway.
The live-action 101 Dalmatians was a massive hit back in the day (it was the sixth highest grossing film of 1996, showing audiences have always had an incredible curiosity to see the animated classics recreated in a live-action format), but when most people hear the name "101 Dalmatians" noawadays, their minds probably think of the animated film first and that's likely the version most children are introduced to first. The merchandise definitely favours the animated film, too.

No one claimed she owned the role or that Emma isn't allowed to put her own spin on the character. We're talking about Glenn doing a cameo as a different character in the film. How does that interfere with the filmmakers' desire to not be beholden to that adaptation or Emma making Cruella her own?

How do you figure? Everything we've seen and learned about this Cruella so far bares very little resemblance to her animated counterpart.

Look on the bright side, Sotiris. Without a Glenn Close cameo, this film will have no redeemable qualities at all. Even thinking of the film as a comedy, everything we've seen so far has been absolutely awful so far. I have no idea when I'll even see it, maybe when it shows up on cable TV three years later? I wish Thompson was involved in something more worth her time.

Cameos are absolutely not a customary nicety in Hollywood. Some directors care about them, some don’t. It’s not even necessarily perceived as a positive thing amongst actors— Patti LuPone famously turned down the opportunity to play the mother of the character she originated in the Madonna Evita movie. It can be perceived as demeaning to be asked to play a secondary role in a remake or reboot of something that you once headlined. Cameos are a nice thing for fans, and some actors do appreciate the gesture but I wouldn’t go so far as to say it’s “disrespectful” not to ask her to appear in the movie and Glenn Close doesn’t appear to think so, either.
Speaking of Patti LuPone, she was incensed that Glenn Close never reached out to her after Close was tapped to bring the role of Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard to Broadway— a role which LuPone originated in the London West End and had been promised to bring to Broadway.

I don't see it as disrespectful either. I only think it's odd because wasn't it said Close was involved with this somehow at some point? I think it was right around the time she was robbed of an Oscar win for The Wife.

Yes, she was attached to the project as an executive producer. I wonder what happened.

FWIW,
Cruella is failing at whatever 'new' thing it's attempting to be, too; at least Angelina Jolie made
Maleficent worth seeing. Looks like Victoria Smurfit on OUAT will end up being the superior version of the comic Cruella take.
