Maybe they will change their faces. The cover is okay design wise, but their faces need to be changed badly!

They did it with the Diamond edition of "The Lion king" Didn't they?

I'm seriously disappointed they are going for that fugly cover. Aladdin has always had off model covers though. Never really liked any of them -VHS/DVD/BD. The VHS/UK bluray cover is off model but it holds huge nostalgic value to me so it gets a pass. The DVD was probably best but I found it too crowded.
When will Disney learn a simple, classy cover is best?

I might actually get this if the bonus features do turn out to be decent. Too bad the cover won't match the gorgeous Platinum Box Set I have.
Does Disney still do nice steelbooks like the Sleeping Beauty one that looked like the book in the opening?

Thanks for the list!
I'm hoping that the Broadway featurette is as substantial as the one that DisneyOnBroadway features on their channel:

So those 2 Genie special features are there as a tribute to Robin then.

Most likely.
Either way, the bonus features sounds promising. Though they probably won't be as elaborate as they used to be during the Platinum era, they'll probably be interesting.

Can someone explain why it is so freakin' difficult for Disney to have their characters drawn well and on-model for their home video releases? ~sigh~

They fixed them!

I preferred the before Aladdin but Jasmine is a massive improvement. Abu has crazy eyes.

Aladdin, Jasmine, and even Iago look so much better! I only wish they were keeping the background of Agrabah as it seems more fitting than the silver background.

Well, that's a relief. That new cover art is a huge improvement. Not perfect... but much better.
Jasmine's body looks a bit odd, and her hair is slightly off-model.... but my main issue now is Abu: he doesn't look like the Abu from the film; but he looks like the Abu from the very first pencil test they did when they were developing the film (they show it at some point in the bonus features... where he is stealing fruit from a cart, and juggles oranges, or something like that).
Oh well... still a major improvement!

They even went back and added some of Carpet's finer details.
It's still not perfect (especially not Aladdin himself), but at least I can actually bear to look at it now.

I hate this trend of pseudo-3D imagery on the covers where line art is completely absent or almost invisible. I think that only makes it easier for characters to end up looking off-model. But as someone said earlier,
Aladdin really doesn't have a good track record with home media covers, or even theatrical posters -- Genie is the only character who appears to be consistently on model and Jasmine always ends up looking the worst.
Here are several promotional posters/images that are pretty much the only ones I could find where the main characters look even half-decent.
^^ I think this image is the one they should base their home media cover art off of.

New Aladdin has a bizarrely shaped chest.
Who the hell draws this kind of stuff? It's so amateurish.
