This was probably posted earlier, as it's old, but from Disney's YouTube page:

<iframe title="YouTube video player" class="youtube-player" type="text/html" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/0ZJRh03aLKw" frameborder="0" allowFullScreen></iframe>

Notice on that last one you hear Corey Burton narrating as Deems Taylor (or maybe it's Walt, I can't tell the difference).

I'm confused. Why are there two DVD covers?

It's a comparison of the 2005 DVD cover to the 2011 DVD cover.

Apparently I missed out on a couple pages of comments, so after some much needed back reading, my delayed replies:
Escapay wrote:I'm surprised the Time Capsule wasn't classified, but given how there were mixed reactions to it (some thought it to be stupid, some thought it informative but fluffy, some hoped it'd be on future sets too, etc.) I'm guessing Disney doesn't intend to include it. Pity too, I loved the idea and hoped it'd be on all Disney releases. Especially since several live-action films had "Disney Studio Album", which focused solely on Disney films/shorts/TV/theme parks that were in production or released that year.
Yeah, I liked the time capsule too and was hoping it would be on all releases (even the more recent Renaissance films). I can only imagine that kids were disinterested in it during research, or that gathering the rights for movie posters, music clips, Academy Awards clips, stock photos, etc. was costly and/or time consuming.
Escapay wrote:For comparison...

Platinum vs. Diamond:
Concept Art: 52 / 151
Story Sketches: 37 / 75
Color Keys and Backgrounds: 35 / 38
Character Design: 67 / 54
Production Pictures: 18 / 35
Publicity: 5 / 0
As always, publicity material is the first to go. The original poster gallery was so skimpy to begin with that they should've expanded it, not decreased it in sized (I've seen a ton of posters, lobbycards, billboards etc. that weren't included).

Anyways, I still don't like the vertical titles. I envy the other countries what don't have to put up with that.

I thought, while informative it was just annoying that they had to get actors to re enact what they think might have been said. I would rather they just interview people to tell the audience in a straight forward way who said and thought what about whatever.

Is this the final cover? I don't care if it's so close to the old one, it's tons better than the sideways title one!

I want either that one or the French one:

Much better,
You do not realize how interested I am nervous about the packing of Bambi.
From my perspective as a graphic designer, terrible
I wonder who designs the front of packages Cover, recently I'm just upset
How is the head can not title "Bambi" These opposite Bambi's head
Not entirely Mahasirim his ears, since when Disney let this happen
For me it's just a disaster
A beautiful Bambi's head, but why not entirely centered
Not my cup of tea

I wish Disney public inquiries about housing design Cover

+1. My hopes are that there will be an exclusive steelbook or iron pack available for this release. I hope they continue doing that for the rest of the Diamond Editions.

I like the "tradition" Disney Movie Club had of having the limited edition Diamond Edition releases in the large book packaging, with the little book included. Well I know "Snow White" was sold outside of DMC, at least on Amazon, but I haven't seen "Beauty and the Beast" anywhere else. Hope they keep this going with "Bambi"!

This might seem like a stupid question, but is the Bambi footage that is shown during the Diamond Edition "teaser" from the restored version of the film?

The clips I've seen don't look as "cleaned up" as the restorations we've seen so far, so I am wondering if they were just using old footage in the advertisement. I think this "teaser" has been out for almost a year, so if that is the case, I wouldn't be surprised if they were using older footage as the restoration would have still been in process.

Again, sorry if this is common knowledge, I'm just curious!

No, it's not...If you look at past trailers for re-releases, even as recent as the new Alice in Wonderland Blu-ray, the restored clip isn't nearly as vivid and clear as the actual finished product. Don't worry, Bambi will look much better than the clip suggests.

Well just look at the clips posted on IMDB. Even at such a small resolution you can tell they went back in and digitally scrubbed this to pristine digital perfection.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0034492/videogallery

Bambi was the first of Disney's Restoration Initiative started back in 2003 (DVD not coming out until 2005). Before that, none of the classic Disney movies (even the ones Lowry was restoring) used their original negatives as source, but dupes (or dupes of dupes) as the original negatives are nitrate and Disney didn't want to risk anything happening to them. Once technology reached a certain point, they retrieved the original nitrate negatives from The Library of Congress, scanned them in at 2k - 4k starting with Sleeping Beauty - and have been using the 2k/4k scans as their new masters (these new masters of just the film negative - no alterations applied - are created so they won't have to handle the delicate nitrate negatives more then necessary). With that said, they will probably re-scan this thing in at 4k, their Blu-Ray standard, and make a definitive master that will be used for theatrical presentations and future restorations. When the Bambi DVD came out, they were testing the grounds to see what the consumers wanted from the restoration (this was before they set the standard of reinserting the RKO title cards). The restoration team initially left in a small amount of film grain and paint crawl on the characters, to remind the audience that this is film while still removing the overall film grain (and paper grain) to make it look clean. Every restoration since then has removed all traces of grain and most of the paint crawl (among other imperfections) to give it a digital smooth look. Granted, the artists reused film cells to save money during WWII by washing off ones that were just filmed, so it's probably never going to look perfect but I'm betting it's going to have a new pristine digitally smooth look. Fingers crossed they'll remember the RKO title card.

I wish there were "sepcial" packaging or editions to go along with Diamond releases even if it's just a larger packaging or comes with a plush SOMETHING to make them feel more special than the average Disney release...

Blame it on the economy. Disney used to include special "treats" with their movies (not just the special editions). Now we get zip and not to mention the wonderful flimsy recycled package.
