It supposedly went in the vault in the UK last September (though can still be found in some stores), so I could see it vanishing soon into the vaults in the US...
When will 2006 OOP's be announced?

So I'm rather new at collecting Disney DVD's. Just had my firstborn, and I have been holding off on buying additional Disney's for the past month while watching this site every other day to find out whatever Disney DVD's will go OOP at the end of this month. Is it possible that nothing is going OOP in the US? From what I've read, they always have some things that go OOP on January 31st, and it also appears like a lot of other people are a bit antsy about not knowing what it's going to be this year. Anyone know anything that isn't speculation? I read through the thread and saw the posts with the specific movie guesses as to what was going OOP, but that doesn't really help me since I don't want to buy 6 movies on the offchance that Disney also read the same post and thought it was a good idea.

I think it's for sure that The Fox and the Hound and Dumbo are going into the Vault, but they will be rereleased later this year (hopefully better versions).

I remember for months wondering why their entry for the Studio Classics edition of "The Mark of Zorro" was always marked as Out of Print, and come October, the abhorrent colorized version came out, which made sense to discontinue the SC version.
If Pollyanna and Swiss Family Robinson were vaulted, quietly, does that mean they intend to do some kind of different re-release with it? They already missed 45th Anniversary with this year, so they may possibily re-release it with their re-makes.

DVDaf is just edited by regular people, someone was probably just making an assumption Swiss Family and Pollyanna were vaulted because Old Yeller and The Parent Trap were.

Thanks - guess I don't care much if they're coming back out that quickly. I'll just wait it out.

I hope too that they will release them soon in better versions, the Gold collection ones were very poor in extra stuff...IF we can say that they had some extra...

In the Gold Collection, besides the lack of extras, the quality of the movies is very bad because for example in Hercules the image looks very grainy and unrestored, in fact it almost looks like a VHS.

I think Alice in Wonderland ME will be OOP soon.
Bambi II back into vault?

I just received my Disney movie club stuff in the mail today and it says Bambi II is going back into the vault next month. Isn't it a new release or was it just redone/remastered etc? Why are they discontinuing it so quickly?!

It's part of a new marketing scheme Disney is trying. They are manufacturing Bambi II DVDs for 70 days and then putting it back in the vault. They're doing this to see if demand for it grows after it suddenly disappears.
My guess is: probably not. Most people are probably wondering why the hell the movie was even made in the first place.
I don't know if they are implementing this strategy with any other movies. LATT might be one, because of the "limited time only" advertising.

How can something that's never been in the vault, go back into it? LOL
Bambi should probably go back in the vault too, so they can sell us the Super-Ultra-Spectacular-Titanium Edition, 2-Disc BluHD-DVDray version in a couple years. LOL

It hasn't even been given a Aussie release date (nor has LATT for that matter).
Maybe I should quickly buy it!
Then again, I'm worried about Disney's OTHER scheme at the moment: their new copy protection. It has stopped some of my Treasures playing on either player, and LATT had problems with my older one.
I'd rather wait for the local, but if it is going OOP...

Loomis, will it not be released in Australia? I wouldn't rush out to buy a Region 1 release, if it will be in Australia.

That's the thing: LATT, Bambi 2 and a few others are all yet to garner Aussie release dates. I don't WANT to import, as I tend to prefer PAL and locally encoded discs where possible, but I don't seem to be given much choice lately.
Kronk New Groove JUST got released here a few weeks ago (December in the US?), and using that window, I'd imagine Bambi 2 would be out here in May (as would LATT). However, neither are listed on BVHE's May or June schedule as yet.
Time is running out to own two Disney classics!

I just received an E-mail from Walt Disney Home Entertainment, with the following message:
Time is running out to own two Disney Classics.
Walt Disney's Lady and the Tramp: 50th Anniversary Edition (For a Limited Time) and The New Classic Bambi II (Into the Vault April 17).
Hurry and pick up these Easter gifts on Disney DVD before they disappear!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have both of these titles, and I knew that Bambi II was going into the vault on April 17. However, why would they put Lady and the Tramp into the vault before Bambi or Cinderella?

I just got the same email and was surprised too!! I think they are pushing Bambi II with such a short release because, well, not many people would buy it to start w/ since it's a sequel. Heck, I even had the fleeting (very fleeting) thought of buying it just because it was going into the vault!
But Lady and the Tramp?? Weird.
LATT was released end of Feb and Bambi over a year ago!! Wonder what the deal is

Bambi 2 isn't a "animated classic", whoops, that's for another thread!
But wow, I didn't think Disney would take LATT out this soon. Even when Aladdin is still out.

Notice how they don't give a date for <i>Lady and the Tramp</i>'s departure. They're just re-promoting two of the year's top-sellers with a Friday afternoon "Easter's coming" push. I don't think <i>Lady</i> will be disappearing for a while.
