Yeah, it's football that non-Americans are totally confused towards the appeal of. And apparently, even that is slowly changing in Europe.

Me and My Shadow is back on at Dreamworks:

December 22, 2014:

I am currently working at this studio on their upcoming film ME AND MY SHADOW, which was delayed for a long time but is finally in production. Let me just say that working here is fantastic. Free food and parking. This studio is going back to 2d animation.

Cool, that was the only thing in their pipeline I was looking forward to anyway. And not just because of the 2d aspect, though it doesn't hurt.

Dreamworks is reviving Me and My Shadow? Cool.

I think they're doing it for two reasons:

A) They realize that their CG films aren't doing so hot (even though they all break the budget...?), so they feel that if nothing else, a partially 2D hand drawn film ain't gonna be the end of the world.

B) They can really push the 2D - 3D contrast and make the film "unique" in a market that is getting more and more studios contributing, the vast majority CG. In other words, it's a smart business move.

I am glad that some lucky animators will be doing hand drawn again.

The movie may look good in concept art but it's probably going to end up sucking anyway as it's watered down to appeal to the masses, if it even gets made.

Isn't Me and My Shadow the film Alan Menken was involved with? I'm hoping it gets made.

hoping for a film to fail, and therefore create a loss for another company, comes across as rather immature. personally, i hope dreamworks manages to endure for many years yet. they are capable of putting some really good films. this latest, i know nothing about, but will go and see if for no other reason than to support the company.

Wishing failure on a studio and its employees is hardly an opinion.

Oh, and I really hope you don't actually consider "Oh shut up" to be a personal attack. It was a moment of great irritability that I felt towards you which I decided I had to make known.

DreamWorks will have a comeback I'm sure That doesn't change the fact that I don't enjoy most of their output, and feel they contributed to the temporary downfall of animation in many ways. I enjoy seeing their films suffer, especially when they're consistently mediocre or flat out AWFUL and they crank out THREE per year. Frankly they got cocky, and they deserve this slump after attempting to oversaturate the market with poorly planned junk. I'm sorry, but it'd be a bad thing if some of the brainless garbage they put out caught on because it'd affect the trends of the industry as a whole.

Now I like the Kung Fu Panda series, so I'll be happy to see the next installment do well, and How to Train Your Dragon films aren't my cup of tea but at least they're more mature than others. But HOME?! Give me a break. It looks awful and I hope it's another flop. I'm sure everyone is looking forward to The Croods 2, Madagascar 4, and Puss in Boots 2: Nine Lives & 40 Thieves as well

With the state of the world economy and income distribution, there are people far more deserving of your pity than DreamWorks executives and animators. Not only are publicly traded corporations fair game for criticism across the board (and DreamWorks is still comfortably in the upper echelon of film studios), there are MANY other animation studios that are rising in success to give other employment options, for people who would already be very well connected and well paid considering they were working for one of the top animation studios, something most aspiring artists can only dream of. It's not like DreamWorks dying will cause the demand for animated films/tv shows to die out either. I'm glad audiences are seeing the light and giving success to other studios and films.

It's okay to hate Dreamworks. What's not okay is to root for its possible closing and have hundreds of people unemployed

ok this is aaaa-dorabe! I love that the guy's so dweeby and the girl is kinda fugly(look at them TEETH!). We need different people types in animation as the leads. And I love the shadow guy, hes gonna be a lot of fun. Now Ill just cross my fingers that they dont drown it out in too much DW style pop culture/toilet humor...

btw no one hates DW more than me, but when they try Ill give them their due...
