Why would Hei Hei be the villain?
It wasn't me who guessed that BTW.

I don't know about the funko pop set, but he has a lot of merchandise in the Disney Store like plush toys. Even an interactive plush set with him and Pua.

Yes, it is rofl-worthy, but that's Disney's Villain Twist (copyrighted) for you.

That's good to know. I don't want the secret villain nonsense in this movie.

Same, especially since it looks like even the traditional villain of this film is going to be disappointing going by movie footage so far.

The Italian trailer has two new shots. One is an extended shot of the lava creature and the other a close-up of baby Moana. Both are at the beginning of the trailer.

Twas I who jokingly suggested that Hei Hei may be this film's twist villain going by how much a deal they are making about him being "stupid".
as for the actual villain (so far) she does seem kinda meh...she feels more like a special effect than a character. But maybe she will have a more traditional form we haven't seen yet.

I even doubt if she will speak. The only characters whose voice actors haven't been announced yet are the Kakamora and her, and maybe that's because they both don't speak. Perhaps
Disney Analysis can tell us if the lava creature speaks in the footage shown at Annecy or not.
I also wonder whether the lava goddess can transport herself wherever she wants or she's confined to one place. If it's the latter, then she probably only appears in the film twice, at the beginning when Maui and her fight for the green stone and at the end when he and Moana try to return it to the island. All her shots in the trailers seem to be from one of those two scenes. I think it's probable the film won't have a main villain, but several antagonistic characters like
Pinocchio, for example.

Apparently, the princess joke changed a little.
Partway through Moana, a tattooed demigod named Maui refers to her as a princess. “I am not a princess,” Moana says. “If you wear a dress and you have an animal sidekick, you’re a princess,” he counters.

I think the novelization just altered the line, not necessarily that the movie changed.
A friend told me how some of the Marvel films, for example, reword some of the dialogue in the novelizations so there's less innuendos or "provocative" tones.
Either way, the Pocahontas = Princess debate comes to mind.

You mean the shark or the owl? I haven't seen either of them before. I believe we haven't seen one of the other supernatural characters still? I'm just remembering some character descriptions from a while back and there was another one besides the Lava Blob.
Pua is sooo adorable. He has to be one of the cutest sidekicks Disney's ever come up with. The only cuter one that comes to mind for me is Figaro back in Pinocchio.

Yes, the shark is Maui too. I remember having read he also transforms himself into a shark.
By the way, here's today's instalment of Moana Mondays:

I went on tumblr guess what I found? Another article about the pulled Maui costume written by a white lady

Seems these morons just don't want to let this go, & just want to complain about a dumb Halloween costume which Disney removed from it's stores & apologize. I'm so glad in 2018 we won't have to worry about this:
