I'm looking for the 1999 version of the Simba's Pride DVD. I found one on eBay. The seller is in Taiwan and the DVD has region codes 1/2/3/4/5/6
The languages are English and Chinese. The seller only accepts Paypal and cash. Weird. o.O The seller's rating is %100 with 33 comments.
Bootleg.
It is in fact a bootleg!

When you see "taiwan" and "regions 1,2,3,4,5,6" all on that EBay description, it's a bootleg!
and of course "asian subtitles such as thai, mandarin, chinese, japanese..but they can be removed".
The reasons why the seller still has 100% feedback are as follows..
1.) When buyers leave negative feedback, the seller also leaves negative. "You give what you get."
2.) People are just stupid.

We should compile a list of sellers that were are positive of selling bootlegs as a precautionary guide for everyone.

Well, in my experience for helping someone named
MMP obtain animated classics...
this seller is the "saint of bootlegs"
STDVDS.

Compiling a list of sellers who sell bootlegs is a good idea.
Some sellers say that their old DVDs have DTS when they really don't. Example: Someone is selling the 1999 Regioin 1 version of Simba's with a banner saying DTS.
This DVD also has:
Audio: English 5.1, Mandarin and Cantonese stereo.
Subtitles: English, Mandarin, Bahasa, Thai, & Malay.

I have a question regarding the Snow White PE. I just received it from a seller on Amazon Marketplace. I want to make sure it is not a bootleg (I don't think it is) so I'm hoping I can have someone here kind enough to check their copy to see if there are differences:
The DVD's are gold in color on the side the player reads from. My other PE DVD's are more of a silver color. Is this normal?
I don't beleive it's a bootleg because it is in the dual size case, region 1 only, and everything appears to be official. The Disney DVD catalog and offer booklet is also included.

Welcome to the forum
cwnickell!
My Snow White disc also has a gold tint to it. I got mine new & sealed from Wamart before it went out of print.

Dangit, I made an error with my freakin post...dumb mouse.
Anyways...
Welcome to the forum,
Corey!
I just checked my Snow White PE which I got new&sealed from a friend; it also had the BVHE stamp on it.
Disc 1 has a hint of gold on it, Disc 2 is pure silver.
It'd be hard to bootleg that don't you think?
I say from what
cj has confirmed..."Congrats! You officially own a real SNOW WHITE PE!"
*i suggest that people start checking their SNOW WHITE DVDs....

Early dual-layered discs had the second layer printed on a gold disc. Yes, Gold. There's gold in them there discs! However, most modern duel layered discs use something else, which is the same colour as silver. Obviously, it was more expensive to use gold!

Wow! Such a quick response.

Thanks for the wonderful welcome to this board RJKD23 and CJ.
I'm relieved to here that the gold discs are normal for this release. I didn't think I had a bootleg but just wanted to be 100% sure. I didn't realize that the discs were made with gold back then for the 2nd layer. Very interesting..thanks for the info 2099net.
I'm happy to have found this website and this forum. I just started collecting Disney animated movies on DVD and this site has been very helpful. So far, I have Snow White PE, Bambi PE, The Lion King PE, Beauty & The Beast PE, Aladdin PE, Mulan SE, Pochantas SE, Alice in Wonderland ME, Fantasia Anthology, and Sleeping Beauty SE.
Thanks to all again!

I hope to be able to visit here often.

Can someone tell me if they own both SNOW WHITE PE, and POCAHANTAS 10th ANNIVERSARY EDITION.......if when going over the front of SNOW WHITE DVD/Disc with your fingers a little rough, and when going over POCAHANTAS really smooth. I bought SNOW WHITE from a web-site, and I want to know if I bought a bootleg or not. Do all Disney DVDS have a smooth DISCS, or not? I hope my post makes sence.

It's very easy - don't shop from ebay, shop from amazon... amazon will refund your money if you get a bum product. Ebay won't. plain and simple.
I've never recieved a bootleg from anyone at amazon yet. i trust them and their ratings.

You can just as easily get a bootleg from Amazon as you can Ebay. Doing a little research and having a little patience will defiantely decrease your chances of acquiring an illegal copy of a movie.
You can get a refund from Ebay if you use Paypal.
