Given that TPatF is getting a ride (or, in this case, replacing an existing attraction), I can't imagine why they wouldn't bring him back.

Japan Won’t Kneel....

The headline from a WDW Pro video posted today that says Disney unable to convince Japan to switch their Splash Mountain to Tiana.....
Splash Mountain is still saved at the best Disney Resort in the world! (I know that’s because Disney has very little to do with it!)

Go Tokyo Disneyland 🇯🇵!
Stand your ground against this woke nonsense!

Praise Japan! I do not know much about Japanese culture but recently I have been watching anime movies. Disney movies now are so bad and have no heart or romance. with anime I can see classic love stories again that make you laugh and cry.

Love Your Name, Weathering with You, Ride your wave, Sea prince and the fire child, Howl's moving castle, castle in the sky, Belle, and also Ladybug and Cat Noir but that is French not Japanese.

I’m honestly surprised at the progress they’re making so quickly on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, at least compared to how long it took them to build Tron: Lightcycle Run. And not just because T’sBA is in a preexisting ride building.

Of course, I can’t help but wonder if it’s too soon for Disney to open the version in Magic Kingdom in the summer.

Hey, if we’re going to discuss the new ride here, can we change the title of the thread to reflect the update and move the thread to the correct subforum? I keep trying to post updates on the ride and they keep getting moved here… This thread seems pretty popular so it would be great if moving the thread generates discussion in a less popular subforum.

I agree they’ve made a lot of progress in a short amount of time, but Tron took too long. That was an anomaly I wouldn’t judge Bayou Adventure against. Universal is opening a third park in the amount of time it took Disney to build Tron! lol

I don't know much of anything about the parks, I'm surprised if this is fast? It's felt like forever ago since it was announced the ride was going to be re-themed up to when they finally shut down the old and started on it. My impression is the ride is pretty popular, maybe that's why they're hurrying to get it up and running again?

That new animatronic looks like a fat version of Tiana’s mother in a Jungle Cruise guide costume. Nothing like Tiana looks in the film.
What a disgrace!

I only half agree with you, Carolinakid. I do think she looks a bit like Eudora, cause they gave her the same haircut! Plus, the hair looks looking dark grey, not black... which makes her look older (it might just be the lighting).
Also, her hand looks like an overweight old person's hand...

But I DON'T think she looks fat, and I do think her face looks like the animate character. Either way, it's a huge improvement from the Elsa/Anna animatronics in WDW...

The "years of public" outcry thing is a bit of a hard sell for me. I obviously can't account for everything anyone has ever said on the internet, but I tend to follow Disney Parks dialogue pretty closely, and the "Song of the South" connection was never more than an auxiliary piece of dialogue. Most people I interacted with or observed don't even know Splash Mountain was based on a movie. And of the few who know that "Song of the South" existed, very few could actually articulate what about the movie was offensive.

Like, there was some mumbling about the representation of the natives in Jungle Cruise before they made the changes (hard emphasis on "some"), but people decided that Splash Mountain itself was racist overnight.

Tie-in books for the ride.

Image
A charming debut picture book from acclaimed actress, singer, and Disney Legend Anika Noni Rose, which shows Princess Tiana on a never-before-seen New Orleans adventure!

After traveling all winter, Tiana and Naveen are back in New Orleans in time for Mardi Gras. Tiana wants everything to be just right, putting the finishing touches on their party favors and parade float. But then she gets an unexpected letter from Naveen's parents, the king and queen of Maldonia. They've decided to join the celebration! Determined to make it the best Mardi Gras ever, Tiana sets out on a new adventure with some old friends to find the perfect ingredients for a special addition. But soon she finds that perfect might not be the goal...and she may already have all she needs.

Releasing just in time for the opening of the new Tiana ride (formerly Splash Mountain), providing plenty of opportunity to build synergistic buzz, and filled with Easter eggs from the new ride.

I don't like the style they went with for the poster. It's too flat. I would have preferred something with more depth and shading. Also, the color scheme chosen is dull and dreary.
