(Minor spoilers possibly throughout!)

I had not read any reviews, but my husband said that the critics' average was a 62% "Fresh" rating or something, saying it was boring; I asked him what the audience rated it, and he said 92%. So I went into it having heard that it has boring parts, but I was not bored at all.

I know that CR was an awful guy for a lot of the film, but that was the point of it-- Pooh is such a forgiving, sweet bear that CR eventually came around to see the error of his ways,

I had that thought, of the next time I watch a Pooh film, what will I think of Christopher Robin? But in my eyes, he was at such a low point in life, he needed Pooh to re-teach him how to be Christopher Robin again. For me, the other Pooh films show CR before he was an a-hole, before the pressures of adult life made him that way, so I don't think anything will be ruined for me. The kids sitting next to me in the theater laughed a lot and asked their mom some questions; I think that kids who only like "action"-type movies will be bored with a lot of this film, but I think plenty of other kids will like it.

CR didn't set out to be an overworked a-hole, you know? He used to know how to have fun. But obviously war changes people, and he had a family to support when he came back. His boss was shoving it down his throat that you have to work hard, hard, hard and sacrifice everything for this job-- that's what he was being told, maybe even on a daily basis. His intensions were originally good, but he felt between a rock and a hard place. And it took his old buddy Pooh to show him what was really important. I love that people at his company accepted his idea at the end- that made me have some faith in humanity!

I 100% agree.

I've always enjoyed bittersweet stories, so this was right up my alley. I like a healthy dose of adult reality, lol. I just think that because Pooh is so forgiving and sweet, he was exactly what CR needed to "fix" himself.

Vanity Fair also thinks he should be nominated for an Oscar. By the way, the Rotten Tomatoes score has improved a bit, it now sits at 68% with an average rating of 6.2/10. Despite still not as good as what some other recent live-action remakes have gotten, I think I will personally like it and I'm still really looking forward to seeing it.

Yeah, I did understand the stress. I did like there's a explanation of his life: His boarding school being hard on him, his father dying, and the war (which wasn't necessary IMO). From what i can remember though, they didn't really see his work change him. He just started working and then started to ignore Evelyn and Madeline. I didn't like the way he treated them, especially to Madeline. I know that he will be a workalcholic which I like. But in the trailers, it looked like he was a workalcholic, but still a good person. Minus the fact he didn't want to fire anyone, he was all-around jerk IMO. He was more kinder to Pooh and I did like the way how he was slowly starting to snap, but I thought it was too soon (end of Act 1 out of 3 acts) and just mean-spirited. Disney had a great idea and intention, but the delivery wasn't good. Pooh truly saved the movie. He was just as magical and warm and uplifting, but also more grown-up as well.

Yeah, w/o Pooh + friends, I don't know that this movie would've worked. I think the moral of the story is everyone needs to stop and smell the roses-type if thing, but everyone needs to talk with a Pooh every once in a while to get some sense knocked into them!

I doubt there's going to be a sequel given the film's box office performance. If they do end-up making one, it's definitely going to be direct-to-stream.

I'm not going to buy this, but the Target exclusive cover is very cute. That was the film poster, right? Hopefully I'll be able to see this and Incredibles 2 soon.

I'm not surprised if it under performed. The whole thing felt like Disney's attempt to re-create Paddington's success, and I didn't think it would work, especially not so soon after those films.

I finally saw this. It was cute. And funny. I really liked Pooh and Eeyore and Rabbit. And that's really it for me. It was...meh.

And, ok, I am one for originality, being a creative person myself, and instead of saying nothing is original, I say everything is at least a little original, because nothing is exactly the same as something else, but I have to say this...what is with like the same story happening over and over? In Christopher Robin, a man grows up and must regain his childhood happiness. In Mary Poppins Returns, Jane and Michael grow up and must regain their childhood happiness. In Hook, Peter Pan grows up and must regain what he lost from being a child. It's the same damn story over and over. And maybe if the film is good like Hook and what we hope Mary Poppins Returns to be, we don't mind because they did the story right, but I'm tired of the same thing happening over and over. Unless it's Cinderella over and over, lol, because that story gets remade all the time and I always love it, so, I'm a hypocrite, but do you guys get what I mean?

I think it's just another way to have a sequel...instead of starting over from scratch with a reboot, instead of doing a prequel or midquel, it's a later-in life sequel. I've never seen all of Hook, but I'm kind of meh about it (even as a little kid, if I want Peter Pan, I want the 1953 one!). I like the true-to-life angle of CR, & I'm looking forward to it in MPR; it's easy to go through life and become hardened and to lose your dreams, your ability to wish/hope...if your bear or nanny are able to help you find those things again- I think that's great. I think of it just as another way to tell a story on that universe, a let's-see-what-the-characters-are-up-to-now, what kinds of lessons can they learn now...

Well Amy, it's just that I wish they would have more original stories. But you know that there is the belief there are only seven stories in the world. I'm just always hoping there are infinite ones.
