Well when you put it that way, Tangled and Big Hero 6 should have no place in Kingdom Hearts either, cause they're also taking the place of classic Disney animation.

Well, it's better those than incorporating the live action remakes that (with the exception of Cinderella) put an even more severe dent on Disney's heritage by making Maleficent a good guy. Oh yeah and having Sora playing music with Hannah Montana. Now what do you have to say to that?



Seriously, you've made your point several hundred times and it's getting annoying and childish. If you don't like Disney CG animation, don't bother coming onto this thread or any thread regarding their CGI animated films. Go onto threads for 2D animation (or at least the more positive ones.) We want 2D animated films back too (And don't tell us we don't) but we also know that boo-hooing about it is not going to make a difference.

Yeah, people say they want 2D animation back, but then they're also happy to see the very movies killing it off brought into Kingdom Hearts as new worlds and are going to be out buying this game because of those movies.

Makes no sense.

All I'm going to say is, if there's no Princess and the Frog world introduced in this game, then it will certainly say a lot to me on where Disney's beliefs are, since it's the only Disney animated feature of the modern era that I think truly belongs in this game (and Winnie the Pooh's been in Kingdom Hearts already).

I want 2D animation back, yet I'll proudly say that both Wreck it Ralph and Tangled are in my top 15 Disney films. You don't have to hate CGI films to long for 2D back. That shouldn't be hard to understand.

Plus, even if a massive (and I mean massive) pro-2D group boycotts KH3, Square Enix isn't going to interpret surprisingly poor sales as "wow, people really hate Tangled and Big Hero 6 specifically, that was a bad idea". They'll just look at the bigger picture...probably their own convoluted fantasy story, which has been a main source of critique towards the KH games. So, since they're a video game company, they'll probably blame it on themselves and their marketing rather than Disney, since the Disney part of their game has proven to not be an issue, even with gamers who aren't huge Disney fans.

Well I do hate Tangled, for the fact that it killed Disney's so-called hand-drawn revival that they should have been more focused on than still wanting their movies to be computer animated. It's thanks to that movie that all of the current animated features in the works from Disney are forced to only be CGI, and exist that way to tell audiences that "2D is dead". I can't like today's Disney animated films if that's the kind of message the studio wants them to put out, unlike Princess and the Frog's attempt to remind us why hand-drawn is so good.

But I suspect that it is likely that Disney/Pixar/Lasseter would want to squeeze in as much Pixar Worlds as possible into upcoming Kingdom Hearts games. The Pixar movies are already taking more and more place in the Disney parks and at the Disney Stores it seems.

I completely agree, but I'm already bracing myself for them--unfortunately. Hopefully there won't be more than one or two Pixar properties in any given title. *sigh* Really wish we had a barf smiley.

Personally? I wouldn't mind a Pixar world or two. If we do get any, the two Pixar movies I want as worlds are Monsters Inc/University and Toy Story.

I'd take Pixar over Star Wars or Marvel being in Kingdom Hearts. I know Big Hero 6 is sort of Marvel, but I mean if they put in worlds like Asgard or Avengers and stuff. I really don't want that

I think adding Pixar worlds would be intriguing to see.

Pixar Worlds I'd like to see

Monsters Inc - The whole door unlocking that happens in that world could fit in

Toy Story. If they are even going to consider bringing Pixar in, Toy Story is a must

The Incredibles. - Come on, Syndrome commanding a legion of Heartless would be awesome. Plus seeing Sora Donald and Goofy interact with The Incredibles, and maybe they can help someone find their super suit

I agree, if Pixar's going to be included, at least let it be Toy Story. The only downside is it would be hard to see TS as a regular world. It would be better as a mini-game world like Winnie the Pooh, tbh.

Honestly, several of their films would be hard to see as anything but mini-game worlds. Ratatouille? Cars? WALL E?

It would not surprise me if corporate Disney pushed for Star Wars and Marvel to be included in Kingdom Hearts as a way of leveraging brands, cross promotion etc (the things they like best). How much control does Disney have in the development of these games vs. Square Enix? Or is their role more about licensing and distribution?

Generally, Square Enix is left to do its own thing; they choose the worlds and Disney says, "Yes" or "No." Disney owns everything though, including the original characters. I believe Tetsuya Nomura wanted Toy Story to have a world in the first Kingdom Hearts and he then tried to include Woody and Buzz as summons in Kingdom Hearts 2, but those attempts didn't work out for whatever reason.

Of course, things have changed when it comes to KH3, because apparently John Lasseter is micromanagingworking with Square Enix to make sure the worlds end up as true to the original source as possible. I suppose it's in relation to films made since he came to Disney, considering the same thing happened with Once Upon a Time when it featured Frozen last Fall. Roy Conli is also being consulted in regards to Tangled and Big Hero 6 (maybe others). I believe Byron/Howard were also brought in. Which is a new thing because Musker and Clements, for example, have never been consulted and almost all of their movies have appeared in KH (in nearly every installment so far). (Roy Conli wasn't consulted for Dream Drop Distance when The Hunchback of Notre Dame was featured either.)

I believe Disney's new role in development probably has to do not only with John Lasseter being at Disney, but Disney's new interest in gaming because of Disney Infinity.

Well, Normura stated no map or area thats been explored before would be featured in kingdom hearts 3. I know that's pretty obvious, but I suppose, rather than them saying it will be all new worlds (which has been rumored), they mean no areas we've been in before would be shown again. If they ARE featuring Aladdin, I have no clue what other areas could be explored other than perhaps inside the palace.

As far as Big hero 6, I don't mind really. I've never seen it, but then again I had never seen Tron and I enjoyed that just fine in KHII. Just hoping they don't totally ignore the classic Disney movies like Dumbo and Pocahontas, which could make great worlds, in the place of the flashier new films like Frozen and Wreck it Ralph. Those weren't bad films by any means, but I would much prefer classic Disney.

Princess and the Frog would also make an amazing world, Eric Goldberg said there's a good possibility it could be in the game even though he's not involved in the game's production. I just hope they don't ignore that one.

I still think an Atlantis world would be really fitting due the atmosphere and set pieces. They should also give Sword in the Stone a chance. I'd like to see Sora and the gang fight Madam Mim.

I would love for Pocahontas and The Princess and the Frog to appear! Especially Pocahontas, as well as The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Pocahontas is the only classic 90's movie not to appear in one of the Kingdom Hearts games.

Treasure Planet and Atlantis - The Lost Empire would also have been fun, but I know that there is little to no chance for those movies to be featured.

If they chose to ignore most of the classic Disney Worlds that we have seen so far (such as Snow White, Pinocchio, Cinderella, Alice, Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty, Winnie the Pooh, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Hercules, Mulan) I do hope that we will get to revisit these Worlds in upcoming Kingdom Heart games... I want to visit all those Worlds and see how Square Enix might be able to portray these classic movies in 2015 and beyond (2020s & 2030s!), as opposed to how they were portrayed back in 2002 & 2005 (Kingdom Hearts I & II).

Kingdom Hearts IV, V, VI etc, etc can't be made fast enough if you ask me!^^

Looks like the Hercules world is expanding from the Coliseum and it looks like it might be pretty epic.

I agree. Those two're at the top of my list along with Frozen for films that haven't appeared in KH before. I'd also love for them to include The Sword in the Stone at some point--at least Madame Mim. I'd like to see Treasure Planet eventually, too, but I might have to wait a while for that one.

Kingdom Hearts 2.8 was announced for PlayStation 4. It includes Dream Drop Distance, a new playable episode that follows Aqua in the Realm of Darkness after the events of Birth by Sleep, and a movie the includes story-relevant information revealed in the cell-phone game Kingdom Hearts X/chi.

Part of the reason is that--besides making money --they're trying to condense the entire story to one console after they stupidly fragmented the fanbase by releasing this game on the Game Boy Advance, that game on Nintendo DS, that other game on the PlayStation Portable, etc. I won't be surprised if they eventually release all the games in one package for PS4 just before KH3 is released. They're probably hoping to encourage sales for KH3 by doing that, since it's the last part of the story they started in KH1.

It'll actually be refreshing to see what they do after KH3, because they won't be trapped by the story ideas they've been going with since Chain of Memories. Maybe they can make Disney relevant to the story again.

Kingdom Hearts 2.8 is really a dream come true! Really excited for both games and for the HD cinematics.

I have no plans to play a cellphone game myself, so the cinematics are a handy way to get up to date on story and important plot points. The Aqua episode sounds interesting (is this actually in fact the long awaited/rumored "Birth by Sleep Vol 2"?!), and I am deligheted that I finally will get an opportunity to play KH 3D Dream Drop Distance.

I bought myself a Gameboy Advance, a PlayStation Portable and a Nintendo DS in order to play various KH games on those platforms. Turns out I find handheld gaming boring, so I did not finish any of these games. I much prefer to play console games on my TV and to have voice actors and computer graphics (like in KH & KH II) in all my KH games. So happy that all the Kingdom Hearts games will have been released in HD on PS3/PS4 before KH III comes along.

Yes, where Square Enix/Disney will take Kingdom Hearts after KH III remains to be seen, but it is an exciting question! Will they feature Sora and Riku, and pick up where KH III ended? The master villain have been defeated (after games stretching from 2002-2016/2017?), so now it's out to fight a new master villain (who will be the main villain for another decade or so)? I guess the whole idea of "Kingdom Hearts" have to be featured somehow, and that Donald, Goofy & Mickey will be featured as well... Or will they begin the storyline almost from scratch replacing Sora and Riku?

Will the KH games be as diverse as the Final Fantasy games, with new main characters in every game? I would like to see Sora and especially Riku continue as an important part of this franchise. Occasionally they might give us some new heroes (like they did for Birth by Sleep), as long as they do not drop Sora and Riku. Donald & Goofy are also essential for the KH games if you ask me!
