Intersex, etc.

Dear Disney Enthusiasts,
A few other groups of people who aren't usually talked about/ represented in "polite" society are those who are Intersex (they feature some combination of both genders inwardly and/ or outwardly, with regards to their physicality...), those with hormone disorders, and those with conditions that have yet to be diagnosed...
Thank you in advance for your replies.

Goliath is clearly atheist. He addressed this multiple times. I dunno how you could think otherwise. An agnostic is person who unsure yet if a God exist or not. Atheist flat out believe there is no God.

Yeah, I wrote that (hyperbolic, as usual) because, as far as we know now, the earliest and oldest scriptures which ended up becoming part of the Old Testament, those which deal with the creation of the earth, man, and the history of the jewish people, were written by nomads who had no scientific understanding of the world. They knew nothing about the heritage of their people and that's why they decided to make one up. But somehow, the 'origins tales' of all other ancient religions (the Greeks, Romans etc.) we have cast aside as 'myths', while the Biblical stories are no different in tone and substance (only difference is a monotheïstic God). Oh, the other things you wrote after that are stories from the Bible, not historical facts. We have no sources outside of the Bible to support the idea that there existed a (large) jewish community in Egypt during the reign of pharao Ramses II (during whose reign the Biblical stories supposedly had taken place). So I can't discuss any of that.

I can see what you're aiming at. One guy gets horny over the Disney princesses and the other guy is just delighted to talk to them in real-life. I don't mean this as an insult to Slave2moonlight, by the way; I'm sure he would be the first one to agree.

Hey, you think I'm smart?

Actually, I just put 'atheist' to avoid questions about the difference between agnistic and atheist.

I like you very much, but please don't speak on my behalf. Disney Duster is right: I identify myself as agnostic. Not because I think the existence of a Higher Being is very likely, but just because *I* can't say with 100% certainty a HB *doesn't* exist. I preach the gospel of 'I don't know'. I don't believe I have ever called myself otherwise on this forum (until now, for reasons explained above). ... Which, as it turns out, has had just the opposite effect.

Ah, good, okay...
Linden, I'm sorty you went through that with your parents. Guess what though? Well as I said when I was little I always felt a certain way I couldn't explain about boys, but I still presumed I'd marry a girl just like everyone else, but when I was in high school, I actually thought I might be asexual, because I wasn't very sexual. I was also in a Catholic High School and even though my mother was very open and accepting, I still was very worried about it being okay I was gay, so that was part of why I kind of wanted to be asexual. But I didn't really, deep down feel I was. Because before High School, I got my first crush. I felt what I thought was love for this boy I met back in middle school. If it wasn't full on love, it was a crush of attraction. And that lasted forever. I still think of him. So while I wanted to be with him, I didn't feel sexual...but now, I have awakened to sexual feelings about boys. It was kind of always there but nowadays it's fully awakened. So, I dunno if that helps. Thanks for your respect, I hope you change your views on what we talked about, but regardless I also hope that things are good for both of us.
Goliath, thank you for clearing that up! So I did remember that... Oh, and of course I disagree with what you said about how the people wrote down the stories, that they actually happened or divinely found out what had happened, I already talked about why they would be similar to other stories, and we've been down that road talking about all the rest, so...that's all for now! And I've called you smart before.

Hey, it's okay. I could see how all my anti-religious rants gave you that impression. I may be agnostic, but I recognize bullshit when I see it and I see a lot of it in all kinds of 'holy books', which read like fairy tales to me. I think that if there is a Higher Being, it couldn't possible be anything like the humanized gods in the different holy scriptures.
On-topic: if Disney ever decided to make a movie with a gay/lesbian couple, I would want them to not market it that way, and I would want them to not make that the center point of the story. They should just act like it was just another element of the main story. Like how Bernard and Bianca's relationship wasn't the core of the film; that just happened during the film, but it was not a love story. Disney could have a character that just happened to be gay who met someone along an adventurous trip who also just happened to be gay, and slowly develop it from there.
Just to avoid that the film (which for all we know, could be one of their best) gets overshadowed by the fact that their characters are gay. (Not that that wouldn't happen anyway, what with the scrutiny some puritans apply to the talkies...)

For the first two "High School Musicals", Ryan didn't really have a love interest. I thought/hoped he would end up being a gay character, or at least have it be implied that he was gay. Alas, he ended up with Kelsey the pianist/composer girl in the 3rd movie. I thought it was a golden opportunity for Disney to have a gay character.
I think it would be really good for Disney, or any children's movie, to feature gay characters in a positive light. The sooner children get exposed to it, the better I think. That way they won't grow up and see homosexuality as something strange/foreign, just as a different kind of love. It's honestly no different than kids seeing heterosexual Disney couples. Gender is arbitrary. Love is the only thing that matters!

I agree completely...but I wish you hadn't used that word lifestyle. That being gay is a "lifestyle" akin to say, veganism is something homophobes throw at us all the time!

I'm sorry, that was a poor choice of words. I actually have a very Foucaultian view of sexuality; it is something you DO, not something you ARE. It is not the defining feature of your character.

Well, yeah, of course he does, but we had to do a project based on his theories (from 'History of Sexuality') and that turned out to be the worst I've ever experienced during my five years in university! After a while I couldn't hear the name "Foucault" anymore.

From gay couples in Disney films to Foucault. that's UD for you.

All who say no are homophobes. They say they aren't, but, yea right.
And coolmanio is a homophobe too as he said he would think children would be confused instead of, you know, learning something new as we all learn new things we have never seen before when we watch Disney films that have things we have never seen before, like other countries, etc.
toonaspie, they made The Lion King and Lilo & Stitch, their own original stories. They can make up an original story that has Disney themes and Disney essence about a gay couple.
Do you even know what homophobe means ? It means you're AFRAID of gay people. I don't want to see anything gay in a Disney movie, but that doesn't make a homophobe. I am in no, way, shape, or form scared of gay people. They're just people.

It WAS implied that he was gay. He was in musicals, wasn't he ?

Well I thought he was gay for those 1st two movies. I imagined he was just closeted still. But he ended up having feelings for Kelsey in HSM3, so I guess he's straight or bi.
Though being involved with musicals/theater doesn't make you gay. Being attracted to someone of the same gender does.

Er... you realize that this comment, combined with your disapproval of seeing a gay couple in a Disney film, only feeds suspicion of being homophobic, don't you?
Not saying you are, but dude, come on! Being in musicals = gay?
