I always believed that Monsters Inc. bore a striking resemblance to a Klasky-Csupo Nicktoon called AAAHH!!! Real Monsters. The only difference was in that show, the monsters' scaring was based around academia.

This Monsters prequel brings that similarity even closer.

It never acquired to me that Monsters, Inc is similiar to AAAHH!!! Real Monsters. That's probably because I haven't watched AAAHHH!!! Real Monsters in a really long time so it's far from my thoughts when I watch Monsters, Inc. I think the show would have acquired to me when I finally watched Monsters University and I go "Hey! This feels like AAAHH! Real Monsters only the school is exposed to the elements instead of below a stinky garbage dump!" I like AAAHH! Real Monsters. My favorite episode is the one with Ickis befriending an old blind man who plays jazz and lives in a condemned building by himself.

It's on netflix which originally I wasn't keen on the idea but have come to like. I agree that I didn't think of the similarities that are between the two until someone posted that about a month ago.

I ditto that yay! Seeing him wearing glasses makes me wonder if he wears contact lens in Monsters, Inc. Or he wore the glasses till they corrected his vision well enough he didn't need them or contacts anymore at some point before the events of Monsters, Inc.

I forsee Mike and Sulley pranking him a lot. Like Fred and George pranking Percy in Harry Potter but minus the magic.

Sky Syndrome, Mike does put on his contact lens in the dressing room when they prepared to work in Monsters Inc, so I don´t know what you are wondering about?

If they're going to show Randall used to be a glasses-wearer in college and he didn't need glasses when working at Monsters, Inc. later in life, I'm wondering if he eventually traded the glasses for contacts or his eye doctor told him his eyesight is great and he didn't need glasses or contacts anymore.

I thought you meant Mike not Randall, sorry Sky Syndrome!

Looks like fun, and unpretentious too.

I will have to um, read up on how college works in the U.S., though, as I don't know what the hell a fraternity is.

The plot doesn't seem that interesting but of course it all depends on the execution.

I just wish Pixar didn't take their established characters and set them in a different genre than that of the original film. They have done it before with Cars 2 and now with MU. They could have easily created new characters and a new universe instead. I think they're only doing this because it's deemed financially safer this way.

I looked up fraternity so I could know what it means and it's a group of people joined by sharing one purpose/interest.

That makes it sound more innocent than it usually is. :P
