Here's my tribute to the Great Movie Ride.
GMR is the only attraction at this park that is a throwback to the classic animatronic extravaganza dark rides that are such a staple of MK and Epcot. And the subject matter of the attraction itself arguably makes it the very HEART of this park and is indeed the concept from which the entire park grew.
Although I am not a fan of every film or genre represented, I really enjoy this ride. The all-too-brief Mary Poppins scene is a favorite and makes me think how great it would be if MP had her own dark ride entirely devoted to her film!
The finale provides the biggest payoff for me, though. Several minutes in the wonderful world of Oz, with excerpts from multiple songs! There are times when I'm not completely in the mood for the entirety of the ride, but hop on anyway just for the Oz segment! If Disney could have goten the rights to do another dark ride in this park, featuring the ENTIRE story of the Wizard Of Oz film with even more of the songs, it would easily IMO be one of their all-time best!
