The hair isn't the only new thing. Instead of the CGI Ariel at the beginning and end, she's 2D. And all i can say is eeeeeeek! :o Look at 3:52, but Ariel looks great at 0:56.

Well, I like the choice of shaded 2-D hand-drawn animation itself, but whoever did the animating did a reeeeally bad job. For just one example look at the weird way her hair is at the very beginning of when you first see her before Part of That World. Or her chest staying so still while her arms move strangely in the part where she's transforming. And her face, ugh.

I atcually think that now they should shade the animation scene in Ursula's crystal ball, to match. And it makes no sense to see scenes of her dancing with Eric when she's just turning human in the next scene, so they should cut those scenes out unless they just make them silhoutted glowing "visions" of what Ariel would be like as a human with Eric, like when we see the glowing silhouette of her as a human in the cauldron in the movie.

I don't think Ursula's Lair should be that dark and I especially think Under the Sea which is supposed to be bright and fun and was in the movie should be dark!

And why don't they just make Ariel's hair a good kind of floating up, like this?:

They should've kept the surface/underwater separation.

Yea, if it's really gone, I agree.

The new hair is cute ! I wonder why they changed it ??

Funny how that was one of the points on the ride that Jodi pointed out herself that she loved. Aww well, Ariel still looks cute !

Will the new ride be much different ?

Is the ride open right now? Is it going under some kind of refurbishment? Sorry, I'm not on the complete up and up. :P

Will the new one be totally identical to the old ? I know it will be in Eric's castle......so will that change anything ?

I've heard rumors that WDW's version might have a few added things not in DL's version, but I think mostly it'll be almost exactly like Disneyland's, with the exception of the Prince Eric's Castle and grotto queue areas.

Will you be queueing up in his actual castle ?! A la Pirates of the Caribbean ? That would be awesome if so.

If you don'd mind me asking, what are the proposed changes ?

All I know is that the queue is different. here's a video of it:

Ah I see, thank you for that !

So from that, it looks as if the queue will be around the grounds of Prince Erics castle then.

That is a beautiful mural though. Truely epic.

You're welcome! :) Yeah, I'm love that mural. I can't wait for the rest of the queue.

I would have loved it to moved away from the traditional Disney Classic dark ride queue, and become a fully fledged experience/part of the ride, much like Pirates or Phantom Manor.

Oh, atlanticaunderthesea, more answers to your question about the differences between the Florida and California versions:

From http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2 ... gdom-park/:
From Craig:
How similar is this ride to the one in California? The way everyone talks about it, it seems like a completely new ride, but hearing the details it seems quite similar.

From Jennifer (the blogist):
The exterior is completely different, the interior is very similar. The attraction tells the story of The Little Mermaid.

Oh dear, the page isnt found ?

The only thing I would have liked to change is more of a cinematic ending to the ride; Snow White has much more suspense.

BUT what right have I to complain at all, when my favourite film of all time is having two rides made in its honour ? I am crazy happy ! :D

Which ride was supposed to have the secret extra/extended happy ending scene? Was it the first one? I didn't notice anything more secret endingy except maybe her voice returning and getting kissed but I thought the extra ending was after the waving at the boat scene. I don't think it was the fireworks or dancing sea critters that was the extra part.

I guess we won't know the differences until we see the two ?

I wish that Ariel spoke some more in the ride, apart from singing POYW.....though none of the dark rides have much speaking from anyone I suppose.

I just thought someone would remember which ride was supposed to have the extra happily ever after scene, or if both rides were supposed to, because it was in some announcement or information a long time ago.
