The Legend of Hercules - C'mon Hollywood, get real. How many times can you remake this movie and expect people to come see it? I won't!

Remake what movie? Hercules is a Greek myth and that's what every film interpretation of Hercules has been based on (well, except the Disney animated film. That was Superman. ).

They can call it what they want, but Hercules in movies is about as original as Mom's Apple Pie. There have been more than 20 movies about the "legend" of Hercules beginning back in the 50's. Who can forget "Hercule" and "Hercules Unchained" starring Steve Reeves. There have been retelling of the stories of the legend of Hercules for over 60 years. Disney even has a really ridiculous version that is animated.

Hollywood just plain refuses to pay screenwriters for their manuscripts and resorts to finding something in their barrel of flops and tries, in vain most of the time, to remake it with a different storyline. A good example of this is how badly they ruined the 1947 original film of "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty". Hollywood thinks that they have to make sure that there is enough swear words and sexual innuendo in their movies or no one will pay to see the movie.

There have been some exceptions, but very few in my opinion, that hold up to the original. The worst of the lot includes: "Footloose", "The Day The Earth Stood Still", "Red Dawn", and the "Dr. Doolittle" series of films. Some of the better remakes include: "3:10 to Yuma" as an example. I refuse to fall into the Hollywood trap of what they call a new movie, when in truth it is just a retelling of the story by a new bunch of actors, and writers, who have to make sure that the proper amount of swear words and sexual innuendo are in the movie.

Lone Survivor (Marky Mark goes in full war drama mode; Might see via illegal download, thanks to a relative who does that sort of thing, which is NOT my thing)
RoboCop (Do not expect this to compare to the original classic; Talk to me after I walk out of this one, opening weekend)
The Monuments Men (Must-See, if only to determine how much award potential it could've received)

In front of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (Again, this was not a remake, but a completely different interpretation of a unique short story; Ben Stiller did a very fine job with the material, but the 1947 version with Danny Kaye had just a bit more charm
Endless Love (Typical twisted romantic murder plot story; No Interest)
Winter's Tale (Weird combination of modern romantic drama and steampunk thriller; No Interest)
Noah (Aranofsky's follow-up to Black Swan; Hopefully it's worth the risk; Would like to know more)
Heaven is For Real (As I've said before, I'll read the book first)
Son of God (Not that religious, but this could be worth my time, just not in first-run; No Interest, yet)
Rio 2 (There was a lot to like in the first film; Hopefully Bruno Mars can help improve on it; Will-See)

This was a REMAKE and you might as well get over what you think is a remake or not. We have so many films this year that are remakes of the classics, that I am just glad that I own the original film and don't have to waste my money or time watching Hollywood add language and sex to their version of the original. It's like no movie sells without foul language and sexual innuendo. Give me a break!
