I'm glad that Gina's gone. I never liked her that much, she had too much of an attitude, ya know?
If by attitude you mean her appearance, then yes, she dressed with an edge. But if you mean attitude by her personality, she seemed like one of the sweetest most sincere people you could ever meet. So I don't know.
By attitude I meant her personality. Did you ever notice how mad she got when the judges gave her negative comments? She looked like she was ready to kill Simon most of the time! She just came across as fake and snobbish (is that a word?

).
I did like her edgy rock style though.
I also forgot to mention last time that I loved Michael Buble's performance. Love that guy.

In what way can she not sing? I can understand if you don't care for her voice, but claiming that she can't sing is an overstatement. I don't like Sanjaya because I don't care for his voice. I could probably be quoted as once saying something similar, but I don't really mean it. He can sing, but I don't like his voice. I vote for Haley because I really like her voice and her performance on Tuesday was very energetic. She was one of the highlights for me. On top of that, yes, she does have the total package and that probably plays a large factor as to why she is still on the show. But it's not like she is going to win. Sadly, either her or Phil will probably be next to go. But I just hope it's Phil before Haley.
Ok, well she can sing a little (I think she and Sanjaya are about the same ability-wise)... I just find her voice really boring and old-fashioned sounding.. but that's just me :\

Where did that come from?
I do agree though.. I don't think he's a bad singer, I think he's really good.. but he needs to go back home to his wife and baby.

As said in one of my previous posts, he scares me. He has a big bald unproportioned head, huge ears that stick out and a long narrow pale face. He looks like a vampire!

So since Jennifer Lopez is the mentor tomorrow night, I'm assuming that it will be Latino type of music. With that it mind, I make a strong suggestion for Sanjaya the Great to sing one of the following songs:
"Hips Don't Lie"
"Livin' La Vida Loca"
"Shake Your Bon Bon"
Let the laughter commence!

With Jennifer Ho-Pez being the mentor tonight, it will one big no-talent mentoring an even bigger no-talent in Sanjaya Malakar. Heaven help us if he gets past this week.
Next week will be country week with Martina McBride, I am really looking forward to that show, and hoping that we are minus that one-man-hair-band Sanjaya.

Hilareous, dvdjunkie. I didn't know next week is Country week. I'm not a Martina McBride fan, but I like a lot of Country music. I just hope Haley gets to stick around. I've always thought she would be awesome at a Shania Twain song. Sadly, tonight is more than likely her last night. I also want to see Phil stick around because I've felt his best performances have been his country songs, in particular "Tobacco Road."
I was reading in TV Guide that there are rumors that if Sanjaya wins the competition, and it is possible, that Simon Cowel will quit. He denies the rumor, but said something to the tune of if that happens, it will degrate the integrity of the show. Lot's of people in Hollywood seem anti-Sanjaya as well. My brother watches lots of talk shows and he said that almost all of the hosts joke about Sanjaya on shows after Idol airs. If he ever is on one of those shows, I will tune in just to see the hosts lie through their teeth while he is on.

This week was pretty boring. I agree with Simon tonight, although his comments about Haley are getting old. Yeah we get it she has nice legs, blah, blah, blah... ENOUGH! Its getting as bad as Sanjaya, which surprising tonight wasn't as bad as usual. Not that I'm a Sanjaya fan now, but he did do better this week.
I really can't pick a worst tonight either. Although I think Blake did good. I just don't know about this week.

Blake is awesome! He's going to make one awesome album someday, and I'm most definitely going to buy it!

I also enjoyed Jennifer Lopez as tonight's coach. She did a good job and looked like she had a great time with it. She's extremely talented and I have a lot of respect for her.

It's going to be tough week, but I predict after tonight's performances, Haley, Phil and Sanjaya will be in the bottom three, and unfortunately it will probably be Haley that goes - but I do wish that it would be Sanjaya.
Why do we need a one-hour results show? Just a whole lot of filler, or else they are going to do a lot of plugging about the April 24 week when American Idol gives back.
I will probably just DVR the show and fast forward through everything, especially Miss Ho-Pez's number or numbers, and just get the results.
Long shot pick for bottom three would be Chris Richardson, but I doubt it. I think that Phil, Haley and Sanjaya are the bottom three this week.

I've lost some interest in AI over the weeks...I did watch it last night, but didn't vote. LaKisha was my favorite, followed by Melinda. Sanjaya was actually my 3rd favorite, probably followed by Blake and Jordin. I was hoping someone would sing "Livin' La Vida Loca" or "Shake Your Bon-Bon" (I like Ricky Martin...

). No one was extremely amazing- the genre just didn't click with anyone, I guess. I thought that LaKisha should have sang Haley's song, and Haley should have sang LaKisha's song. "Turn the Beat Around" isn't an easy song to sing, since it has that fast part. It was inexcusable for Phil's voice to crack (he's not a teenager), so I think that he should be in the bottom 3 for that [I'm not a guy, but sometimes when I sing my voice will kind of crack, but I'm not on national television- he should have been more prepared I guess). Haley should be in the bottom three (what Simon said to her was exactly what I had been thinking- during her performance I even said to my husband that many people who tried out and didn't make it as far as Haley has are probably really mad at her, seeing as how she's not remarkable. My husband even said she's not overly pretty). I can't stand Chris Richardson, so I'd like to see him in the bottom three, as well. Blake and Sanjaya are my favorite males. Saying that, I love the song "I Need to Know" by Marc Anthony, and I thought that Blake didn't perform it nearly as well as Marc Anthony would have, so I think that Sanjaya did a better job last night than Blake did. Jordin was weak...better than Haley, but weaker than usual.

For the first time, I can say Sanjaya actually had hands-down the best performance of the night. I thought Melinda's was pretty good too (Simon was too harsh on her). Everyone else was really weak, with the two worst being Haley and Phil. Jennifer Lopez was surprisingly helpful as the mentor, but this week's theme was by far the weakest yet and the performances, overall, reflected that.
Haley should have been gone weeks ago, so I was happy with the results. Phil needs to go next. After that, the real competition begins. Sanjaya probably has another two to three weeks left, but I doubt he'll stay around after that. Ryan Seacrest's jabs at him came off as childish and unfair. At least all three judges gave him a positive assessment for a change. (By the way, dvdjunkie, what happened to you being a newfound fan of Sanjaya?)
My current contestant ranking is as follows:
1. LaKisha
2. Melinda
3. Chris
4. Blake
5. Sanjaya (tie)
5. Jordin (tie)
7. Phil
Looking forward to country week, though I wonder how a few of the contestants will fair in that genre. Anyone know who is after Martina yet?

It looks like they won't have a coach the week after the country theme. Next week after country the remaining six idols will sing about hope and compassion. This happens because of "Idol Gives Back" which will have a 2 hour result show.

Harry Potter film fans: Daniel Radcliffe is supposedly making a star appearance on the April 24th AI show, as part of the "AI Gives Back" campaign.
Just FYI

Aaron, I think that you are way off on how far Chris Richardson can go. He is weaker than Sanjaya, and I probably dislike him as much or even more than Sanjaya because they keep comparing him to Justin Timberjerk, whom I really think is a no-talent.
Sanjaya did a good job this week on 'Besame Mucho', but I really think that Blake Lewis is the most talented of the guys, and the most original. Your final four are way off because the girls will rule the top three spots and Blake will get in for the final four. Melinda, LaKisha, Jordin and Blake are your top four and it will be a toss up to see who gets eliminated next week during the Country week. I believe that it will be Sanjaya's week to go. Let's face it, he will make lots of money on the tour this summer, and he will be seen by all his 'tweeny boppers. I can almost guarantee that Chris, Phil and Sanjaya are going to bite the dust in the few weeks to come. The April 24th show sounds like it will be pretty boring, so I will DVR it so I can fast forward through all the crap that will be the filler that night. Two Hours, c'mon, they could do the show in an hour with the Top Six and all the extra stuff, but they won't. It will be two hours on Tuesday and probably another one hour show on Wednesday to tell all about how much money was raised on Tuesday.

Those were ranked in order of my favorites at this stage. Those weren't my predictions for the final four. I'll make a revised final four prediction after next week's results show.

Tuesday's show was pretty boring. The biggest shock of the night was how great of a mentor Jennifer Lopez was. And on Wednesday, I thought she was the best guest performance so far and I am not a fan of her. I really like that song, even though I can't understand a word. The second surprise of the night was that I didn't thiink Sanjaya was aweful. For me, it was his best performance. I still would have ranked him at 8/8, but I think he is starting to grow on me slightly. Haley was deffinatley the second weakest performance of the night, and since Sanjaya continues to dominate, I was not surprised that she was the one to leave.

Well, voice cracking isn't the easiest thing to control. It's not exclusive to teenagers. From my experience in various choirs and voice training, it's a lot more common for men's voices to crack when they really push those high notes. There really aren't many ways to prevent it. I read that the Idol's only get like 3 days to prepare their song choice for the show. Another thing is that my voice usually cracks when I am vocally tired, and these contestants are singing way more than they are used to. I didn't see his voice cracking as a huge downfall or dissapointment, but I do agree that he should be the next to go.

After reading some 'Idol' posts on another site, it was brought to my attention that we are down to the Final Seven for next week. In order for us to have a final four of Melinda, LaKisha, Jordin and Blake, it means they would have to eliminate three guys over the next three weeks, something that they have not done in the history of American Idol. Hopefully this will not show us that the show is "fixed" or arranged so that the American Idol for 2007 has already been picked and the phone calls we make are just motions to go through to make us think we are picking the best.
The most times that they have elminated same sex people was Season Three when they eliminated two girls in a row, but then it still evened up the count to make it two guys and two girls in the final four.
It is a shame that is coming down to this, because I really think that Phil, Sanjaya and Chris are the weakest of the seven finalists left, but I am so afraid that one of our favorites is going to get the axe before we get to the Final Four in three weeks. Let's hope that the voting is kept above board and we truly have a choice in American Idol 2007.

Tonight's country music theme should be interesting. All of the Final 7 will be way outta of their element, as country is a tough genre to sing.
Can't wait to see what Sanjaya's serving up!
