Not everyone is like Mike Wazowski,
What on earth has Mike Wazowski to do with this

And it seems like you and or others are focussing and emphasizing more on what other people want for you instead of what YOU truly want for yourself. Yes, other people matter but do you see what I’m getting at? Being selfless can also be just as bad or worse than being selfish, heck I’d even say most the time it’s even the latter, because it’s YOUR Life. YOUR Feelings.YOUR Values.YOUR Time etc. why on earth would you ever, ever ever ever ever want to spend one fraction of a second not truly being YOU.
You just described Asha.
Also It was just a funny harmless joke and u should atleast let people laugh about it instead of getting emotional when people critizise Disney, ESPECIALLY when they offer good reasonings for it. Wish was indeed a boring, predictable movie with forgettable characters that had really nothing to do than to hate on the King to show what a "horrible monster" he is...
Im Sorry in advance if I came off as too mean

I went to Disneyland Paris last month and all the Wish merchandise was 50% off. Even with that all the shelves were full of merchandise and nobody was buying anything from the movie. They even have a whole shop for the movie merchandise in Walt Disney Studios. This shop was used to sell Frozen 2 merchandise too a few years ago. They also had discounts on this collection but it sold really well.
Asha was in the new "splash of colors" parade but kids didn't look excited about her like they did with other characters when their movie was released. I remember that with Tiana kids were really excited and she had a long queue in her meet and greet. I only saw 2 girls wearing Asha's costume.
Honestly I don't know how are they going to sell all this merch. They are going to have problems to get rid of it even selling it with a 70% of discount.

I have a Disney Store outlet about 1.5/2 hours from me, and I really hope I can find the big Star plush on clearance there the next time I visit. I think the MSRP was $40 or $50, so no way I would buy it without a discounted price. I think that’s the only thing that I want, but I might consider the dolls if I find those on clearance, too. Actually, the last time I went to this outlet was around Black Friday and they had the merch then, too, and I thought to myself, “I’m just going to wait till it’s on clearance…” lol

The doll set was on sale at Disneyland Paris too. It was 50% and a friend of mine is cast member so I had an additional 25% of discount too but I already had Asha and the rest of the characters are not so important to have their dolls. They are cute but I don't have space for them. However the quality is really good.
I get the loungefly for only 30% because it's really cute.

Geez, I know a lot of people didn’t like Wish, but the fact that hardly anybody is buying the merchandise is a whole new level of disheartening.

I only buy Walt era character merch and even THAT I rarely purchase anymore at this point in my life.
I’d rather spend my money on restaurants and travel.
This past winter I did purchases 3 sweatshirts with original release poster artwork from Snow White, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty on the front. That’s the kind of Disney merch (adult men’s clothing) that might still interest me.

Yeah, I still need to pick up the Funkos of Asha and Magnifico sometime soon. Maybe Amaya, too, if it's ever on sale. I don't really buy a lot of merch outside Funko these days, that' sort of my merch outlet for Disney. Except for TLM, sometimes I'll buy other things for it. I'm not really a plushie type of person. I love blankets and throws, figurines, etc. But that stuff is too high most of the time, which is why I pass. I'd love to have posters, too, but have no room for that.
Besides, I wouldn't have expected much merchandise for the film to move until now its been on streaming for a while (if it does at all), since it didn't do well theatrically. I'm just glad that a year where the WDAS film didn't do very well was also the year
The Boy and the Heron and Into the Spider-verse were out, it gave the former an opening. Well, that and even the PIXAR film didn't do great either even though it managed a nom at the Oscars; Disney in general left a void for Ghibli to get more focus. It supposedly being Miyazaki's last film also helped it (although that may have turned out not to be true

And I'm glad it wasn't, if he does get through another.)

I have the art book, obviously the Blu, the soundtrack (just downloaded, not CD), a couple blankets, and the Asha (with tiny Star), Dahlia, and Valentino Pops (the latter being free with my DMR points).
I wonder how Wish merch sales compare with the last few WDAS films' merch sales...

I bought two dolls, Queen Amaya doll, the sticker álbum and the loungefly. Presonally I like the merchandise more than the movie but as I said people doesn't seem very enthusiastic about the movie or the merchan. Here in spain the dolls didn't sell well and the shops have all the models on the shelfs since christmas.

Shortly after I posted here, I realized the Disney Store website had all Wish merch on sale, plus they were running another sale that got you an extra 30% off in you spent a certain amount. So I bought the Star plush I wanted (so adorable!!), the 4 doll set, the singing Asha doll, and a glass light up ornament of Star. I also bought the Wish 4K steelbook from Walmart when it was released.
The dolls are really good quality with excellent detail, and I love my plush and the ornament is so beautiful. Can’t wait to put that on my tree with all my other Disney ornaments.

Most of the local toy stores in my local Norwegian hometown still has the Wish dolls. Remarkably enough.

I made it eight minutes into Wish before I had to stop. It was just too unlikable. A lackluster opening song, gross-out humor within the first ten minutes...and I found Asha to be really unlikable. I don't know if I'm just over the whole 'awkward quirky girl' protagonist that Disney seems to be so fond of as of late, but something felt off about Asha.

I have a problem with Asha. I love her design but I found her as you said. She doesn't have a defined personality. In her main song she looks mature and decided, a strong character but in other scenes she acts like a clown. I don't know if they didn't know how to develop her or if her final personality was so akward due to the constant changes they made in the movie

I really thought to myself "There's no way it could be this bad" but....the entire scene with Asha and Magnifico (the interview scene) is just ENTIRELY cringeworthy.

They could have promoted the movie as Spanish but they didn't, the fault of Disney and Disney Spain
Like I didn't even saw the Telediario Talk about the movie being based in Spain, very flop marketing campaign here in Spain about a movie based in the country

You are all right. I expected a better marketing with this movie.
The only good things that they made was Ana Guerra singing the song with projections of Star in Madrid's Plaza Mayor.

Maui & Magnifico comparison video
https://www.instagram.com/reel/C7G1r1cq ... p2ZGY4ODZs
They have more in common than I thought, and Maui did way worse and reckless things than Magnifico ever had
MAUI
big, 'scary", powerful, rude, impulsive and aggressive
trashed by his family, scarred for life, heavily
traumatized
worked to become a mighty demigod
lives for approval and love because of his fragile
childlike ego
insecure, will sing his own praises, doesn't feel
validated
wil risk anything to defend his pedestal as hero of men
addicted to compliments, although superficial that
never give him peace because he's aware people love
him for what he can do and not who he is as a person
KING MAGNIFICO
big, "scary", powerful, impulsive and aggressive only
when provoked into snapping
deceased family, crushed dreams and broken heart,
scarred for life, heavily traumatized
worked to become a mighty sorcerer who can protect
-lives for approval and love because of his fragile
childlike ego
insecure, will sing his own praises, doesn't feel
validated
will risk his own sanity to save his kingdom from
catastrophe and protect his only home that he built with
sacrifices, refuses to lose his position in power that
would take away his last shred of security in his life
addicted to compliments, although superficial that
never give him peace because he's aware people love
him for what he can do and not who he is as a person
THEIR FATE
Maui:. meets a Disney princess who heals him despite
his reckless and dangerous actions by praising him and
validating him in all his battles and traumas
understanding the tragedy of his life lived as a people
pleaser, people whose greed and selfishness have no
end.
King Magnifico: meets Asha seeking help at work and to
share his magic, voluntarily shares his pain, trauma and
deepest secrets, gets trashed, questioned in his
competence, ridiculed, used, abused for favors, mocked
insulted for his looks, purposely villanized by the very
people he spoiled endessly, and finally abandoned by
every single soul in Rosas, trapped in a mirror and
banished in the dungeons by his own wife

Another deleted (alternate?) scene. Takes place after the climax of the movie where Magnifico is in the mirror but Amaya actually destroys it.
