I'm sort of forgiving of that because even if creating a new CG model wasn't prohibitively expensive for them, Uberta's design wouldn't have translated well as a young woman. Her design is very caricatured because she was conceived as an older, comedic character and if they tried to redesign her now as a young woman with a more naturalistic look or softer features, she probably wouldn't register as the same person.

Now that you've finished the whole thing, what's your final ranking? We need an update to this post. :P

I would actually be tempted to buy that if it weren't so expensive. :shifty: It would have been more tempting had they included the movies' soundtrack on CD as well.

Only the first and fifth ones were ever released on Blu-ray. I wish they would give the two 2D sequels a Blu-ray release too, but that seems highly unlikely.

The 30th anniversary logo. It looks like it's AI-generated.

Yeah, that’s definitely AI.

I am really tempted by that box set. It is a little expensive, although I love cheap trinkets like that music box.

That's all fine and I agree about her original design, but I have a feeling that if this was a more expensive production by another studio, they would have found a way to translate those exaggerated features of an older woman into a younger but still recognizable version. This movie being what it is, I can't fault them for that. I do however fault them for not at least trying – the easiest way would have been by giving her some color in her hair instead of having her start off mousy grey. Brown or auburn would have done the trick. Same with her husband in the final one, they sort of gave him a stubble but they could have easily made his hair grey.

Oh, these two last ones are the worst of the bunch, for sure. At least there are some magical happenings and reedeming qualities in the other ones.

Final final ranking:
1. The Swan Princess (1)
2. The Swan Princess (5): A Royal Family Tale
3. The Swan Princess (3): The Mystery of the Enchanted Kingdom
4. The Swan Princess (2): Escape from Castle Mountain
5. The Swan Princess (7): Royally Undercover
6. The Swan Princess (9): Kingdom of Music
7. The Swan Princess (8): A Royal MyZtery
8. The Swan Princess (6): Princess Tomorrow, Pirate Today!
9. The Swan Princess (4) Christmas
10. The Swan Princess (10): A Royal Wedding
11. The Swan Princess (12): Far Longer Than Forever
12. The Swan Princess (11): A Fairytale Is Born

With the preorder discount for the box set the movies come down to about $5 each, which isn't a lot of money but at the same time it kind of is given that only 3 or 4 movies here are (re)watchable. Fans would be better off tracking down the original "trilogy + sing along" DVD box set or just getting the original Swan Princess on BD.

You know, even though I agree with Mooky they should have tried, this is just another example that reminds me, Sotiris, I find you a very smart person who always gives well-thought-out answers and opinions, even if I don't always agree with you. No wonder you are our moderator, you are clearly so intelligent! Thanks for being our kind and smart moderator!

It would be perfect only with the first 3 movies.
They need another way to earn money now that they finished the torture of creating a new sequel every year. Be ready for re releases of the saga. We are going to have like 10 “ultimate collection”
