Well, Im glad they didn't use those annoying movie surfers for this, but then again, there was like what, one new shot there? the rest was just the last trailer.

I don't know why they would preview this on Disney Channel, since Disney Channel programming is aimed at children who have never seen the original Tron (maybe their parents have, though) and has never shown the original movie.....well, the CURRENT Disney Channel hasn't.
Is the original on DVD? I might rent it. Never seen it.....
well they probably didn't use Movie Surfers because they weren't BORN yet when the original came out.

Ive heard that their not really marketing this as a sequel. its meant to stand on its own just fine. if you saw the original, great, you'll get some extra references that others won't, but if this is your first tron, you shouldn't get lost either.
And since when does it matter if they weren't born yet when the original came out? didn't they use 14 or 15 year olds when promoting TS3? they werent born either yet in 1995.

You're correct - the film is a sequel but since it's 25+ years after the original, so not many people will be familiar with it. It's got a different feel and will pay some homage for any fans of the franchise, but it can definitely be enjoyed on its own as well.
Aside from that, we like to think most, if not all, our films will appeal to both adults and kids and Tron is no exception. The story, I think, is really intriguing and the visuals look amazing - and you don't have to be a sci-fi fan to enjoy it!

start along with ElecTRONica on October 8.
Speaking of ElecTRONica, we have been teased a bit by being told that during the weekends’ night event, Muppet*Vision 3D will be showing a 9 minute clip from the TRON Legacy film. No word on what the clip will be exactly but there’s a decent chance it may be the same clip shown earlier this year at San Diego Comic-con. We have also been told that Flynn’s Arcade (located in the Hollywood & Dine location) will be fully stocked with classic arcade machines from the 80s and will even feature an all new TRON arcade game available exclusively at the Disneyland Resort during the ElecTRONica celebration. Of course you should also be on the lookout for plenty of TRON Legacy merchandise: clothing, trading pins, the works (and of course we anticipate an entry or two from Disney Design Group’s Vinylmation collection.

Awesome. That's what I always look for in a sequel: it's ability to be familiar to people who've seen the original, but still able to stand on its own as a movie.

Last night we sat down as a family, my daughter, son-in-law, wife, and two grandkids and watched the original "TRON" (I own the 2-Disc 20th Anniversary Edition) and everyone except the two-year-old loved this film. Didn't expect Tymber, the 2-year-old to be to excited by it, but she did like the racing scenes in the "game-world".
The trailer for "TRON Legacy" on the front of "Prince of Persia" really intrigued us to watch the original and I totally agree with what has been said. From the looks of the trailer this will be a movie that can stand on its own, which is a very good thing, and there will be enough references to the original to satisfy those of us who loved "TRON" when it was in the theaters.
December can't get here quick enough. I will be in line first to see "TRON Legacy" in Wichita.

Olivia Wilde looks amazing. Thanks for sharing!
I watched Tron a couple days ago. The DVD looks pretty good upconverted on an HDTV, but I can't wait for the Blu-Ray.

I like the soundtrack clip that was on the site, and that Easter Egg was quite interesting!

As far as those images go, I guess for me, live-action concept art is harder to appreciate than animation concept art...I mean, they're nice, but I won't fully know until I see them on the big screen, if that makes any sense!
