I love the parodies!
I really hope this movie does well for Disney because The Muppets is a great franchise, Previous Muppet movies seemed to lack originality but I think this movie has a really cool, family-friendly, hilarious plot.

"Life's a Happy Song" should give "Star Spangled Man" and "So Long" some competition for Best Original Song. A strong year for Disney music.

I saw The Muppets yesterday. I won tickets to a special preview. Let me say that this movie is fabulous. I enjoyed it immensely, and it made me laugh, smile, and at times even get very emotional over the nostalgia and joy the Muppets have brought to our lives over the years. It actually had me in goosebumps and almost on the verge of crying a couple times. That's the kind of emotional nostalgia the movie stirs up. That nostalgia is a major component of this movie; that and a return of the Muppets to the greatness they enjoyed during The Muppet Show and the original movies under Jim Henson. This movie is about looking back and looking forward, hopefully to more Muppet greatness. It makes it easy to forget some of the mediocre Muppet productions between Jim Henson's death and this fabulous movie.

The Muppets is campy, funny, and full of music and hope. Kids will enjoy it, but it's squarely aimed at a much older crowd who remembers the Muppets from their past.

The best of The Muppets films evoked similar emotions - be it "Rainbow Connection" or the end of The Muppet Movie or "Saying Goodbye" in The Muppets Take Manhattan etc. (I haven't see the film yet, but it seems like the "Pictures in My Head" song will be a key part of the emotional nostalgia of the film)

It seems like Segel and Stoller not only love The Muppets, they fully understand what makes them tick. It's getting terrific early reviews from critics and fans. I really hope this film makes a killing at the box office. I know I'll be seeing it a few times at least.

Australia doesn't get The Muppets till January! So wrong! But listening to the soundtrack now and I got really emotionally hearing all the muppets singing Rainbow Connection. The new songs are great but its so emotional hearing them all singing it together. :-)

I second that. First it's the quiet original solo work from Kermit, then the beautiful duet between Piggy and Kermit, and then all of the Muppets join in and the music becomes more epic sounding and layered. Wonderful.

And the villain song is so damn catchy. "He's Tex Richman! Everybody listen! Just how great it is to be him!"

I'm super psyched to see this, even though the girl I was going to take decided to go back to her abusive ex-boyfriend. :x

I'll probably go see it next weekend, and hopefully get free tickets by buying some Muppet DVDs, if Wal-Mart still has the ones I want. Finally will get Muppet Christmas Carol and Treasure Island upgraded from VHS, ha.

The Muppets better beat Twilight Breaking Dawn at the box office!
