Some actual footage of the movie, the magical house fully rendered. Looks absolutely stunning!

This Fall, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ all-new film Encanto takes you to Colombia, where a magical family live in a magical home. Directed by Byron Howard and Jared Bush, co-directed and co-written by Charise Castro Smith, and music written by Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Judging from the house and Jennifer Lee calling the story "magical realism" it seems like the film will be set in present times. :(

I'm not watching, just reading what y'all post. I can't comment on the house then, but I wanted to say that logo is awesome!

There's a panther or big cat laying on the balcony of the house on the left... The music sounded nice as well...

Here's a screenshot of the house:

I hope the teaser or special look they shared but was just for shareholders leaks, as well as the one for Pixar's Luca.

An "enchanted" house as they said! ;-)

Thank you so much, D82! I think the house looks really nice. I mean, like Sotiris, I'm a little disappointed this is all present day, but they ripped the band-aid off on that one a while back. My favorite part is the rainbow. :P

Here's the official synopsis:
Encanto tells the tale of an extraordinary family, the Madrigals, who live hidden in the mountains of Colombia, in a magical house, in a vibrant town, in a wondrous, charmed place called an Encanto. The magic of the Encanto has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift from super strength to the power to heal—every child except one, Mirabel. But when she discovers that the magic surrounding the Encanto is in danger, Mirabel decides that she, the only ordinary Madrigal, might just be her exceptional family’s last hope.

The film features all-new songs by Emmy®, GRAMMY® and Tony Award® winner Lin-Manuel Miranda (“Hamilton,” “Moana”) and is directed by Byron Howard (“Zootopia,” “Tangled”) and Jared Bush (co-director “Zootopia”), co-directed by Charise Castro Smith (writer “The Death of Eva Sofia Valdez”) and produced by Clark Spencer and Yvett Merino. Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Encanto opens in theaters November 24, 2021.

I liked its coloring, but I still haven't warned up to the font or the title itself for that matter. Also, the "A" in the logo seems unfinished. I know light is supposed to come out of there, but it just looks like someone forgot to paint the background of that part.

I think it might be a jaguar. It's the only spotted big cat that's native to Colombia.

The family having literal super powers instead of being sorcerers with the ability to yield magic like it was originally reported is disappointing. That's too superhero-like for my taste. I don't need Marvel in my WDAS. The part where something threatens the magic and Mirabel must go on a quest to stop it is too similar to Moana and Raya.

By the way, during the presentation it was said that there will be songs in both English and Spanish. I wonder how that will work. Will some verses be in Spanish and some in English? Will some songs be enitirely in Spanish and some entirely in English?

So, two of the kids are Mr. Incredible and Rapunzel? :P

Well, magic realism is something popular in Latin-American literature, so at least that's a way to incorporate magic that is accurate to the setting. But the little I've read or seen about that genre is usually about ghosts, not superpowers, though maybe there are stories about that in that region as well.

Most likely it'll be the former, like in Coco. Personally, I'm not a big fan of that. I'd prefer the other option.

Well, now that the premise has actually been confirmed, I must say that I`m a little disappointed. Mostly due to the reasons that I`ve already mentioned. But also because this premise just screem Pixar to me (a family with superpowers). There`s really nothing particularly Disney about the concept. I didn`t like the music that was with it, neither (as I`m not into cumbia, despite actually being semi-Latino). While it may be a naive statement of mine, let`s hope the movie will be redeeming at the end.

I`m surprised that there wasn`t any animated features from WDAS announced after Encanto in the presentation. I wonder which projects Disney are having afterwards. Not even a Zootopia II or Frozen III?

If Z2 & F3 are the next WDAS films, I wonder if they didn't want to deal with any backlash...after talking about Raya & Encanto, maybe they wanted to ride the high of "yay originals!" I'm looking forward to Z2 & F3, but not everyone is sequel-happy! Maybe the teaser will be attached to Raya, and I can't wait to see the character designs and hear some music!

Zootopia 2 isn't going to happen so soon after Encanto since I don't think Byron Howard did anything with that while being busy with Encanto. Same for Frozen III, don't expect a sequel so soon after Frozen II. Maybe if they had planned it that way, but they didn't.

I wouldn't normally have been surprised about this as it has been many, many years since Disney announced four or five animated features in advance. However, it does seem funny considering Pixar talked about a whopping four features in their presentation (two of them for 2022, notably the same year for which WDAS haven't specified anything.)

I don't want to be paranoid, so I guess this only means that WDAS aren't yet ready to unveil what they are planning for 2022. However, I am a little concerned with the huge number of series WDAS is undertaking (5 vs. Pixar's 3). I hope the time and resources needed for these isn't being stolen from the feature films!

Hopefully my fear is stupid and unfounded. :)

It's too bad the idea of WDAS creating their own TV series didn't happen a year or two back. Since nothing could be released in theaters this year due COVID-19 concerns, they could've devoted time to those throughout this period instead.

According to Laughing Place, the footage from the presentation that wasn't available to the general public was Lin-Manuel Miranda singing part of a new song from the movie.
Music in the film will be in both English and Spanish and during the Investor Day, Lin-Manuel Miranda sang a new song written for the film.

Lin-Manuel plays a little bit of one of the original songs.

I trust Lin-Manuel Miranda will write good songs, but i isn’t my favorite Morden songwriter. At least he is better than Randy Newman, but i really wish Scott Wittman would write an Animated Disney musical !
