Well Polizzi, you posted a lot !!! Thank you for sharing. But what do YOU think of all this ? As for me, i would just say that the stills of the snow queen herself are almost... shocking... her body is so strange, thin clumsy arms, narrow shoulders, freaky blue face... a mix of Avatar and E.T....; We are very, very far from Disney emotionnal and technological quality are'nt we ? No serious rivality in sight.
Other characters are ugly to me, like the old woman in her garden, or the terrible sidekick with giant brown nose....
At last, even if the synopsis is closer to the original tale than Disney's version, it does have many strange detals and story choices in it.
Anyway. Might be entertaining.

Not to mention that the people of Russia easily considered the character designs for Wizart's "The Snow Queen" as a STEAL from Disney. It is based on a person's opinion to the movie according to the Russian trailer on YouTube that I've posted before on this thread. But for the record, the movie did receive positive reviews, including the AFM (American Film Market). Wizart is very confident that their animated feature would most likely get released in U.S. theaters. It says it all in Russian articles, especially about the AFM on U.S.A.'s "The Los Angeles Times," "Variety," "Animation Magazine," "Cartoon Brew," and many more. Despite from what it looks like, Wizart's version is very adaptable to the fairy tale of the same name by Hans Christian Andersen, except they took it in modern perspective (like Disney from the late 1980's to the early 2000's).

In my opinion for Disney's "Frozen," some ideas for their story are already compromised from Wizart's "The Snow Queen." Let's compare both of their versions shall we?

First, Disney's "Frozen."

From the studio behind 2010’s “Tangled” and this year’s “Wreck-It Ralph,” Walt Disney Animation Studios presents “Frozen,” the coolest comedy-adventure ever to hit the big screen. When a prophecy traps a kingdom in eternal winter, Anna (voice of Kristen Bell), a fearless optimist, teams up with extreme mountain man Kristoff and his sidekick reindeer Sven on an epic journey to find Anna’s sister Elsa (voice of Idina Menzel), the Snow Queen, and put an end to her icy spell. Encountering mystical trolls, a funny snowman named Olaf, Everest-like extremes and magic at every turn, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom from destruction.

Second, Wizart's "The Snow Queen."

Wishing to create a New World – where clearness of lines replaces emotions and the polar wind cools human souls, the Snow Queen is trying to find and destroy all artists and their successors.

The film represents fascinating travel of Gerda trying to find her brother Kai on the boundless spaces of the fantastic country bewitched by the Snow Queen. During this travel Gerda faces difficult obstacles and finds new friends…

I believe that Wizart's New World where clearness of lines replaces emotions and the polar wind cools human souls counts as eternal winter, compared to Disney's a prophecy traps a kingdom in eternal winter. Also, the eternal winter already happened in Wizart's version, and all the Snow Queen has to do is defeat the children of a wizard named Master Vegard, who has the ability to reflect souls besides just appearances. Unless, she has to defeat him and his children before eternal winter.

For the end of Wizart's version (by the way, you wouldn't mind if I spoil it anyway since Disney fans are not satisfied with this thread, because I'm going to reveal it in clear view anyway), Gerda sets the Snow Queen from her spell with her magic mirror left by her father and mother, Una, after the wise Lapp woman told her about her little girl who became the Snow Queen from the cursed lake. That ending is already compromised before Disney's Anna (voice of Kristen Bell), a fearless optimist, teams up with extreme mountain man Kristoff and his sidekick reindeer Sven on an epic journey to find Anna’s sister Elsa (voice of Idina Menzel), the Snow Queen, and put an end to her icy spell.

UNLESS Disney comes up with a stronger ending for their version. For example: (this I must obscure, because I know Disney fans are more affiliated with Disney's version (since it is going to be made in the U.S., not Russia) than Wizart's) Elsa SACRIFICES herself to stop the prophecy from ever being fulfilled, which causes her ice palace to be destroyed. Anna, Kristoff, and Olaf ride on Sven to escape from destruction. Next, they watch the palace collapse. After that, Anna cries upon Kristoff's chest after her sister's death. Kristoff feels sorry for Anna and comforts her. Sven and Olaf embrace each other as they cry too. As they return to Anna's palace, they hear a voice saying, "Uh, excuse me, a little help here." It is Elsa in her normal self hanging out on the icy ledge, barefooted with a white, torn-up dress (her breasts are fully covered to lure away from disturbing images). Anna and Kristoff pull Elsa up from the cliff, Anna embraces and kisses Elsa for she misses and loves her so much. Finally, they return to the palace, Anna and Kristoff get married, and they all lived happily ever after.

How's that for an ending for Disney's version. Disney fans will go wild about it by saying:

Disney has done it again! Their ending is way better than Wizart's version, since their version was a little mushy on the love thing (kind of like "That's the Power of Love" by Lewis and the News) that helped Gerda save the Snow Queen from her curse (despite their idea already done before Disney)! Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel rock! Their song "Let It Go" rocks as well! I hope it gets a nomination for Best Animated Picture and Best Original Song (and maybe Best Original Score) at the 2014 Academy Awards! I hope Wizart's version doesn't get nominated, since their movie is Russian (except "Spirited Away" from Japan, "Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit" from UK, "A Cat in Paris" from France, and many more)! This movie rocks to the top of the icy mountain!

So I think, that if Disney can create a stronger ending like the one I made up for their version, then it might be a possibility to overthrow Wizart's version. Unless, if Disney did not come up with the ending that I made up, then lets hope that they came or come up with a good one.

For Wizart's version, it's hard to say. Plus, they did not yet receive a U.S. distributor to distribute their animated feature, and the only bootleg that I've watched from their version is in Russian without English subtitles. To tell you the truth, I was expecting an English bootleg to be available since their international release was released on January 3, 2013. For example, there was an English bootleg available for "A Monster in Paris" from France, with French titles besides English. Another would be Disney's "Rapunzel (Tangled)" from Russia, with Russian titles besides English. IF the English bootleg of Wizart's version is available (which I would assume that it would have to be either March, April, or so on), I'll post the site of it since Disney has no intention with Wizart's version. For Disney's "Frozen," probably not since it's going to be made in the U.S.

For Wizart's version in the Russian box office, I think it's low based on the popular "Three Heroes on Distant Shores (also from Russia)," which took it down. That movie is done in traditional animation besides CGI. Kind of a twist, don't you think? In the U.S., CGI prevails over traditional art. But in Russia, traditional art prevails over CGI...maybe. But that's because "Three Heroes on Distant Shores" is a sequel to the popular chronology of Ilya Muromets, Alyosha Popovich, Dobrynia Nikitich, as well as the Prince of Kiev, Julius the Horse, Baba Yaga and others (http://www.nkino.ru/en/films/vrabote/ri ... regah.html). I can't tell what the Russian titles are yet, but I recognized the animation on YouTube, especially the characters. Anyways, Wizart's project is their first start (technically their second according to one of the Russian articles that I've posted before), like "Rango" which won the 2012 Academy Award for Best Animated Picture.

For Disney's version at the U.S. box office, the usual like Disney's "Rapunzel (Tangled)."

I strongly believe that Wizart's version will get released and recognition in the U.S. It says it all on the Russian articles, but not yet on the U.S. articles. Their production is done on October 22, 2012 before Disney's version, and they have confidence with their project. And so do I.

Cartoon 1957 - is erased by the censor screening of religious works of Andersen. For example, the insistence Gerda run barefoot (typical feat of religious fanatics), for which she was twice the most stupid way of getting rid of shoes.

The viewing experience has been overwhelmingly positive (especially kids liked), but is still somewhat ambiguous. On the one hand there is a good start and just great last 15 minutes. On the other - the middle would be more inclusive, not even losing interest to children. To schedule almost no complaints (and even given the budget) than bulging eyes of the protagonist. After all, for some reason the other characters have no such problems. Ambiguous queen, the importance of family morals, funny weasel - plus you can find many. That really do not like it (except, of course, Americanization) so it is an idea to make a troll protagonist. It could be for the revival of the plot and entertainment audience, but raise it in the first place - this is clearly the authors have touched. All these torments on the choice and so should be transferred to the main character (and then Gerda they only have a few minutes in the final). When I read that she decided to make a successor to the creative person, I thought, she will inherit some qualities, interest in the work, which then help her. Much to our dismay, nothing but the mirror she did not get an inheritance. Yes, it is much more lively and pleasant than in any previous film adaptations, but still worth the cost. Small talk, do not express any ideas that reflect her personality. Would trust her though control of the boat, snowmobile - is experience for the children would be better. It seems to be something she is (withstands witch lake, her touch the flowers come to life), but it does not solved. Dreaming of the sea and the pirates atamansha be interesting. However, given the state of the domestic animation, the animation is probably now the best in its genre.

I doubt that this will be the ending. Then again, we have so little information from which to base our speculations. There are plenty of details Disney have not supplied us with (nor should they) in the short premises they released.

I also do not think that Disney fans will compare Frozen to Wizart's version. Only animation enthusiasts will even be aware of Wizart's version, not a knock on it, just the way it is with it bbeing from a much smaller studio in a foreign country.

The animation is already being criticized by Russian audience, saying that it is a STEAL from Disney, Pixar, DreamWorks, and many more American animation studios (which I've already posted it based on a Russian's response). But during its release in theaters, it received positive reviews. Of course, there might be some ups and downs. I remembered that one Russian article that I've posted, and the critic gave the movie 7/10.

Think the point about the stealing is nonsense. Why shouldn't they be allowed to follow the animation styles of Western animation studios?

Regarding the animation in the movie itself, I do think it looks ok, given Wizart's limited resources. The Snow Queen looks absolutely awful, though.

You know if the animation style that Wizart created for "The Snow Queen" is copied from Disney's animation style, why didn't Disney sue Wizart while their version is under production? Maybe then, Disney would have all the time in the world to present "Frozen," and Wizart would be left in the streets begging for money.

I'm surprised that the animation that Wizart did is public domain. In fact to tell you the truth, I too would find it a copycat to Disney's style. But besides the animation, I like their version.

By the way, have you read the ending of Wizart's version on this thread? That's part of the story for you. They'll be more coming soon. All I have to do is wait for an English bootleg to be available. I would assume after February 22, 2013 in Brazil since it is Wizart's next international release. Also, have you read on what it is going to be called in Brazil, besides "The Snow Queen?" I posted that information already.

I will say this: Disney should have gotten their version done before Wizart's. Unless, it is a good idea to release their version after Wizart's, so that they can learn from their version, and create their version in their own perspective.

It's too late to learn anything. The story should have been decided by now. And whether rightly or wrongly, I doubt Disney would ever consider themselves to have anything to learn from Wizart.

Did'nt get anything about those frantic debates !
All i said is, after watchin' the trailer, that THE CHARACTERS ARE UGLY, strangely shaped and animated, snow queen character looks terrible, and CG models and animation are the worst i have ever seen. That's all and that's enough. Sorry.

Monday, January 7. On Christmas Day box office Russian rolled even slightly increased compared to Sunday. So, gentlemen, good luck! (BZL) gained 10%, and Happy New Year, MOM! (CRP) - 8%. However, some releases were in the red, and most of all have lost two animated films.

Sunday, January 6. first weekend, the highest grossing in the history of Russian cinema. The approximate fees for the last four days 1.34 billion (not including MOVIE 43 ). The smallest drop in comparison with Saturday distinguished Life of Pi (Fox) and The Snow Queen (BZL), who had lost 8% and 9% respectively.

Saturday, January 5. Total Booking participants of this "Christmas Battle" got over 3 billion rubles. In the sole lead following Saturday, it seems, the picture broke Life of Pi (Fox), which account for more than 400 million rubles.

Friday, January 4. Among the films released in the rental last year, the smallest decline for a second day demonstrates The Snow Queen (BZL), which has lost only 4%, compared with Thursday. Subsided and all the other movies, except Anna Karenina (UPI), which currently is in preview mode, hits (though the increase was small.) The total market declined by 10%.
