Glad that this finally seems like a return-to-form for Pixar.

Kinda interested in going to see the Fathom Events "Insider Access" thing, but I'm on the fence considering the price tag. Depending on what the limited edition commemorative poster that audiences are supposed to get, I could be swayed... Has the poster been revealed anywhere?

I finally saw this movie (it came out last weekend in Western Australia). It was enjoyable.
I'll put my opinions in spoilers so you can make your own opinions when you see it

spoilers.
The movie was enjoyable, but it could have been amazing. Ultimately I felt it was emotionally underwhelming.
The main character is clearly Joy. However her character growth is extremely limited and somewhat shallow. She basically learns and grows by watching a video and has an epiphany. Whilst this happened in Big Hero 6, here it was a somewhat trivial video.
The movie has an amazing set up and is full of creativity, which is quite exciting, however the core storytelling is underdeveloped. In a non-derogatory way, I felt Cars was more satisfying, with (ironically) a more fleshed out cast. Pixar's signature style over substance.
My favourite character is actually Bing Bong. He's the only other character to have any growth. I wish we got to see more of him! Too bad his tsum tsum plush toy is hideous.
I caught one cameo, keep your eyes open during the car trip!

Didn't catch the Insider Access event, but it seems like it went through some technical problems with the Q&A at most if not all of the locations, from what I've read.
Anyway, I'm hoping to catch the movie tomorrow evening. Both critics and audiences seem to be loving it, so I'm really starting to get hyped now.

It probably won't take long at all after this weekend ends.

Just to add for the score on Rotten Tomatoes, the score is now up to 94 on Metacritic, based on 26 critics thus far.
If this keeps up, I think we're gonna have to declare the race for Best Animated Feature at the 2016 Oscars officially over. Now remember, I said "IF."

They got toys out featuring the five main characters, plus some with what I'm ASSUMING is the villain of the movie.

About the villain, someone told me...
Bing Bong is NOT the villain. There are no villains in this, which is wonderful

Frankly we can call it now based on the rest of the year's animation schedule. The Good Dinosaur has had a problematic production and while it could still turn out good, I don't see it getting similar heaps of praise or having the same sentimental value. The Peanuts Movie's new trailer kind of disappointed me, and its rare for a foreign animated film to really catch on. The "Pixar is back" narrative will be strong.

Still 100% on RT with
74 positive reviews now
It's still a long ways away and I haven't personally seen the film yet, but I wonder if the real question this Oscars season will be whether or not this can hold up enough to slip into the Best Picture race like
Up and
Toy Story 3 did with the expanded number of nominees. Probably not but you never know.

I was just thinking that. I wouldn't be surprised if it was. I'm kind of expecting it now if it's THAT good.
