Just watched The Golden Compass. Very nice, I liked it. The plot was very clever, and Nicole Kidman just stunning.

Masters of Horror: Family (2006)
Unfortunately, after this, I have zero hope for the second season of Masters of Horror. This is the second film / episode I made an effort to see, and along with The Screwfly Solution, was the second best reviewed episode of the season. Plus, shockingly, Landis's Deer Woman was more enjoyable and had more to offer. The only really good things about it were George Wendt's performance and a few of Meredith Monroe's little character quirks. By the time each of the sit-down dialogue scenes were finished, you would think the movie was improving. But, just like writer Brent Hanley's other F-horror movie, Frailty, this was pretty much doomed from the start. This is really just a tired cross between Psycho and The Last House on the Left.

The Importance of being Earnest

Absolutely hilarious and simply a joy to watch. Firth and Everett make such a great duo.

Fern Gully: The Last Rainforest.

I can't believe how long it's been since I've seen this movie, and yet I remember it all like it was just yesterday I watched it last. Worth at least one watch :)

For the first time I saw Ed Wood (1994), a movie that is so strange and funny you can't help but love it. And yes I have seen clips and parts of Ed Wood's actual moves.

That was me, I just forgot to sign in. I didn't realize anyone could post without signing in.

Maybe that's because this is a brand new forum / category and the settings haven't been defined yet.

( by the way, this is Lazario - :P )

I watched E.T. for the first time in my life last night, I loved it! I cried and was surprised that the effects were so good(this was the TV version, not the stupid "enhanced" version). This is just a completely awesome movie and I can't believe it took me 18 years to see it.

Ballet Shoes (yes, the one with Hermione from the Potter movies and her eyebrows)

Absolutely adorable movie. The story is very nice and the three girls so different and just fantastic that it is a joy to watch.
The setting in the 1930's is different and as far as I can tell done very well, and the music is nice too.
It's definitely a chick flick or family movie, but lovely and fun.

The Golden Compass I'm very surprised. Great acting, great special effects, great storytelling, great movie. :D It was dark at points, but it suits the film, I think. The polar bear fight was excellent. 4 1/2 out of 5 stars.

Thumbelina (1994)

BTW does anybody know where the "featurette" that's listed on the back of the DVD case is actually on the DVD?

Northanger Abbey

Lovely. Perfect Jane Austen experience of one of her shorter novels.
Great acting, costumes true to the period and the screenplay was amazing with dialogue from the book and extremely witty. Recommended.

The Long Hot Summer, which was really good; and Top Gun, finally, which I really liked even though I thought the flying scenes were kind of boring.

I just watched No Country for Old Men.

Despite all the oscar/awards hubub I had low expectations for this movie. It just didn't look like my cup of tea.

It started off slow but got really good after a while.

Not my favorite movie, but a good one nonetheless.

Best Picture of the Year? maybe. but not my favorite.
