Well, I wasn't talking to you specifically Julian, I was talking to everyone in general.

80% now!

The AMC Theater on 84th street is playing Meet the Robinsons in Disney Digital 3D. I posted this for those who had some trouble looking for a good place to catch the film.

I just got VERY lucky. A brand-new Regal Cinemas theater is opening tomorrow 20 minutes from where I live, and they're showing the film in 3-D. Not only that, but as part of their grand opening, all movie tickets will be four bucks. I was planning on seeing this at the theater five minutes from my house, but now that this new place is offering 3-D (and at a fraction of the price), I'm so there. Plus, I love checking out new theaters, anyway. I owe my Cinema Appreciation teacher loads for bringing this to my attention in class today (I knew the new theater was opening, but I didn't know they had 3-D capabilities and were having a grand opening ticket sale).

For those wondering, it's the Regal theater 16 in Southland Mall, so if you live around the Homestead or Perrine area of Florida, you're in luck.

You sure the ticket prices will be half off? Cuz I checked online and it says that for the 3d showing its $10 LOL

Wow, I never actually expected there to be someone on the boards who lived near me! I guess the grand opening sale doesn't apply to the 3-D showing, then. From what I was told, all the other normal tickets are four bucks for this weekend only. Ah, well. It'll still be worth it to me.

Well also online it is listing regular prices for regular movies ... So maybe there is a special for the 3d showing ...

We have a minimum day at school tomorrow since we leave for Spring Break. We get out at 12:30, so I'll be in line to get my ticket right after school! Thankfully we don't leave for our trip to Malibu until Monday because I really want to go see this tomorrow!

Going to Edwards at West Covina....if any other UD fan is going to that location I'll probably see the first or second showing so say UD at the beginning of Meet The Robinsons.

I took a gander at some of the RottenTomatoes reviews before reading UD's, and have to say UD's is much fairer and more objective towards the film. Some of the RT reviews seem like the reviewer went in to the movie purposely looking for flaws and inconsistencies rather than trying to enjoy the movie first and think about it later. When will some people realize that just because a movie is animated doesn't mean it's just for kids?

BTW, is the fact that there are two voices for Lewis (Daniel Hansen and Jordan Fry) a plot point in the movie? Or is one like Lewis Age 6 and the other is Lewis Age 13?

Also, may want to edit the front page, which says that MTR is the 45th from WDFA, and it's supposed to be the 46th (unless we're pretending The Lion King doesn't exist anymore...)

Thanks a lot for the kind words and the correction! No, the two Lewises is not a plot point in the movie, as far as I can tell. I guess one must just have been going through pubescent voice changes a la the Warts.

Good review, Luke! It seems like an enjoyable film. I think my friends and I will be seeing it sometime this weekend (sadly, not in 3-D, but I'm willing to sacrifice ).

Can I ask what trailers played before it?

As a response to the reviews which claim the plot is "messy": Have any of them ever read the book?

The plot of the book jumps all over the place and hardly makes sense at all - that's why the book is so refreshing. If anything, I'd applaud Disney for staying true to the style of the book.

I am taking all five kiddos to see it tonight.

You are blaming John Lasseter for the film being called messy? That's quite hilarious! Read the book!

Disney's version of Chicken Little was very messy, as well, and John Lasseter had nothing to do with that film. In fact, Chicken Little made me feel as though the creative crew on the film took acid, before going to work.

I love how people want to blame John Lasseter and Pixar, for Disney's shortcomings. You need to wake up. John Lasseter and Pixar are hitting them out of the park, consistently. Disney, not so much.

Great review, Luke. I plan on seeing this movie soon, 3D or no 3D.

Well, John Lasseter did add the T-Rex in the film, which I certainly felt was the most random part of the film from the looks of it so you can blame him for that. He also made quite a few changes, which who knows were for better or worse.

Pixar aren't "hitting them out of the park consistently" though. Read the negative reviews for Cars.

Anyway, good review Lukester, but I felt way too much Chicken Little bashing through-out the review. But I guess it's better than comparing it Pixar, as I feel MTR will be better than Chicken Little as well. Although, I felt maybe a "Closing Thoughts" is needed as I can't really specify what you thought overall in a couple short sentences.

Frankly I don't see how one can listen to critics seriously anymore. They want a "fresh and original film" yet when Meet the Robinsons comes, they say "it's so fresh and original, it's an absolute mess". Does that make ANY sense? It's also funny how they claim Pixar as the masters of originality when, aside from a couple of examples, THEY'RE ALL THE SAME!!! Even the ones who were negative on Cars, you can bet all your dollars had it been a Disney film, they would get so much more nastier, when all Cars was "Pixar's Greatest Hits" on the lines of Finding Nemo. Critics just prove they're fools who probably don't like films to begin with.

Well, hopefully, people will get more positive latter on in the day.

Edit: Okay Luke, I got what I was looking for on the front page, but maybe you could add a "Closing Thoughts" part anyway.

this is my review for this WONDERFUL movie.

i'll say this, NEVER IN MANY YEARS HAVE I SMILED SO WIDELY LEAVING THE THEATRE AFTER WATCHING A DISNEY ANIMATED FEATURE! Like the motto keep moving forward, disney is now signalling its moving forward gesture.to not look behind to the Dark Ages and think ahead.

I LOVE this movie so much, it shares the same emotional resonance of the rescuers meets alice in wonderland! it doesnt feel pixarish, it doesnt feel other studioish CG output. its disney and its CG! it made me cry! its heartfelt and it has a solid story with forgiving plotholes when it comes to dealing with time travelling. and for the first time in many years also i do not know what the story is like despite unfamiliriaty with the novel ( with the early 2000 outputs i could kinda guess the plot and everything etc). its such a sweet experience for me, as im sure many of u will feel the same way too. going thru the bad years with disappointments that disappointed u more than an average movigoer, hoping something the sun will shine again. and this time, the rays r shining. arghh. i thought i'd hate the zany family and the meaningless frogs but everything glues together. thank god there r no hip dancing dinosaurs and this is 1 million miles distance better than chicken little! the score is playful, the SONGs r beautiful for once, tho not memorable.and the voice acting is excellent especially Lewis! and the villain is silly but fun! i like it better than lilo and stitch,if to compare films of similar theme. the family introduction is a bit weird but upon subsequent watching, it gets easy on u.

the ending quote with walt disney is a nice touch to remind us of the studio that has given us many wonderful movies for our childhood and so on, and i read it as a gesture of apology from the studio for all the mistakes they did. (maybe i was getting too personal but i felt it was sort of a vow to me, hehe)

i've watched this movie twice (alone, and watching the reaction of the audience, and will again tomw with my family.

GO SEE IT NOW!!!

btw i dont really like the new disney animation studio logo. and its nice to see people chuckling to an old disney short.especially at donald's antic.
