I agree that Disney should make another. While it did not make it's budget back domestically, it more then made up for it when you count the over seas market. But I guess I must have missed the memo that Hollywood only cares about domestic box office, the rest of the World doesn't count, or something like that.

It's very sad as I'd love to see more of these films. But, should it go down like I think it will (just like "The Roceketeer") then at least it can live on as a one shot.

Well, I'm not sure that it has made its budget back. You've got the cinema's cut to take off that as well.

I was reading somewhere (I think), not sure where though, but an article was saying that Disney was considering a sequel based on the international box office. Not sure if it's really likely or not, but I hope it's true. Hopefully the DVD/Blu-ray sells well and you get lots of people that didn't see it saying that they missed out on seeing really good movie. Then the sequel will hopefully make more.

ok so i've purchased the southeast asian A blu ray today that has the red background as a cover.the features that were on it is 1 deleted scene and the sands of time viewing option that allows the film to turn back time and look inside the making of the feature. im wondering if the making of special is just a compilation of said sands of time bonus feature because in the index mode, the clips add up to almost 80 minutes worth of information. can anyone whos purchased it tell me?

thanks

Well, its not as simple as just looking at the numbers for the overseas takings. There's other issues to consider... the cost of new prints, subtitling, dubbing, local advertising and promotions, as well as (as with domestic takings) cinemas taking their cut of the ticket sales.

But yes, I'm sure with overseas tickets and global DVD/Home viewing sales it will easily end up in profit.

The question is, would Disney/JB make more money making a Prince of Persia sequel or another PotC film? The fact it makes money isn't the only deciding point. You also have to consider if investing the same amount of money in something else will return more money.

Hey everyone. I just wanted to post a little tip about getting this mediocre movie for a great price!

I work at Toys R Us and for some reason, the Blu Ray edition is listed under a weird promotion titled "$10 off select item." So, that coupled with the $8 off coupon Disney is offering, you can get this for a pretty good price! On top of that, if you can get your hands on a 20% Off Any Baby Item coupon [that came in this weeks circular], then you can use it on any Disney movie, including this one!

So... if you haven't gotten it yet, check out Toys R Us! I would recommend calling before you went in and having an associate check the product just in case, but I'm nearly positive there are no regional sales. The item number is 452583. So just have the person at Guest Service run that number through the computer real quick and see if the $10 off promotion is coming up. It ends on October 4th!

I went to Best Buy tonight to get this movie. I tried to use the $8 off coupon and they wouldn't accept it. They said that it was on sale so they wouldn't accept it because the coupon says you can use it on sale price. I took my coupon and left. That's the second time in a row I've left Best Buy upset. I plan to write to them and complain and I am considering contacting Disney as well to let them know that Best Buy is not being honest (again) and is refusing to use a manufacturer's coupon. Hrumph.

UPDATE: We went to another Best Buy last night and I let my wife purchase the set this time. They still gave her a lil bit of a hard time but they did use the coupon and our $5 Best Buy reward zone certificate. Prince of persia ended up costing $16 and some change for the combo pack. Yeah!

Why is Disney not supporting this cool and epic action adventure-movie of theirs? They have now launched their Disney Awards 2010 page at http://waltdisneystudiosawards.com/, but they are not promoting Prince of Persia for any awards.

Surely it's not the greatest movie ever made, but it was fun and enjoyable and I do want sequels. Besides, I got special effects, sets, costumes etc of epic proportions.

Disney should really promote Prince of Persia for categories such as BEST VISUAL EFFECTS, BEST ART DIRECTION, BEST COSTUME DESIGN, BEST ORIGINAL SONG (I Remain, Alanis Morrisette), BEST ORIGINAL SCORE, etc, etc.

I finally watched this a couple nights ago. I didn't really like it much at all. The best thing it had going for it, for me, was Jake's hotness. I didn't follow the plot too much- I mean, I understood that the dagger makes time go back, and that the uncle was evil, but everything else either went over my head or I didn't care or understand. I almost fell asleep a couple times (I mean, I was tired, but still...). It was just kind of boring and hard for me to follow...

I finally just watched this last night and my wife and I loved it. I would love to see another one of these films. It was a cool story with great effects, it would be interesting to see where they would take the story.

I saw this movie a couple weeks ago, hoping for a little dose of shallow, action-packed fun (I was in one of those moods). It didn't even deliver that for me. The best part was Tamina, even though she was objectified. She had a couple lines that were quite good. The scenery was awesome, the acting was fine, and the special effects were pretty good, but it just wasn't entertaining. Hopefully, if they make a second, the plot will be more accessible.
