Anyway, Prince Ali, I think it will really depend on how improved the picture/sound is and how worthwhile the bonus features are. In other words, this is probably one to wait for the UD review and then decide!

Actually it isnt a dumb question. If it is superior to the Gold Collection do you buy it? Maybe, maybe not. I have taken the position of not because of Blu Ray. I dont plan on buying a Blu Ray player immidiately but when I do I will likely upgrade by Disney collection. That means I will have bought three versions of the Fox and the Hound.

I am not sure where I will draw the line, I didnt upgrade Toy Story but I probably will for Little Mermaid

But about the Blu-Ray players, do you think they'll actually make it big? That's the only thing I worry about when buying all these DVDs. I'm scared that I'll complete my collection but have to start all over with these Blu-Ray players.

I wouldn't worry, I think DVDs will be around for awhile. I mean, most people, I think, didn't start buying DVDs until around 2002 or 2003, and they wouldn't want to upgrade their WHOLE entire collection just a few years later. So I think that DVDs will be around for awhile.

Another thing to remember is that Blu-Ray is backward-compatible with DVD. Even if you do get a Blu-Ray player in the near future, you won't have to replace your entire collection. You can just treat all the new releases like DVD double dips and ask yourself if the audio, video, or bonus features have improved enough for it to be worthwhile to buy the same movie again.

Most titles (probably including ALL of Disney's "classics") will come back eventually - in improved versions on the current format or/and the next format. Either way, you shouldn't feel forced to "replace a whole collection" if you don't want to. On the other hand, you should never expect what you buy today or in five years to stay the very best forever.

Well, DVD replacing is tough, especially for people whom money doesn't come easy for them.

For example, I've collected just 17 DVDs in 3 years. I want to collect the Disney AC. They're so friggin' expensive! By the time I'll be finished there'll be Pink-Ray Discs.

But what can I do?....

Also, the bonus features DO NOT look promising at all!
The make of features is probably 4 to 5 minutes long,
The art Gallery must be a few pages,
The sing-along isnt even worth it because you can just go to the scene of Best Of Friends lol.
I am sure they didn't restore the picture to it's fullest like they did with Dumbo's Big Top Edition! I really hate that edition, what a WASTE!

If you've read this thread, you would know that Lucas Grabeel did a music video for this movie. Just because it isn't on the list, doesn't mean that there isn't a music video. Look at all of the other DVDs, Disney hasn't listed on any DVD a commentary, and yet some of them have them. It's on Pg. 6, Kram wrote about how a music video will be on the DVD, look for it.

Read the thread. It's been confirmed that the featurette is just over 6 minutes and the art gallery will be 40-50 images long. Also, keep in mind that F&tH is 40 years younger than Dumbo, so the amount of grain and artifacts is going to be considerably less for F&tH. If Disney puts about the same amount of effort into F&tH's restoration as they did for Dumbo's, we might end up with perfect picture and sound quality. Besides, Dumbo's restoration wasn't all that bad. The only sequence that had crappy picture was "Pink Elephants on Parade", but other than that, the picture quality was actually pretty darn good.

And like Sequel (and Kram) said, there's going to be a music video.

I also saw that as well but I thought since the OFFICIAL site didn't have it, that they didn't add it. Can I make a mistake?

Pasta67 your right about the film being 40 years younger but the Gold Classic Edition was very grainy in some spots, I guess they can get ride of that better. But Snow white was older and look at the picture, it's flawless. So they could have done that to Dumbo. Bambi looks 100% better as well. Dumbo was horrible in my eyes. Plus an over scan! GGRRR lol

Though I love Bambi, I thought they majorly overdid it on the scenes where it's snowing. There is way too much snow and you can barely even see the characters! I think when they fixed it for the DVD they should have taken out some of the snow. But it's not that big of a deal. The movie is great either way.

Please. Don't you people have any respect for classics? Though it is a matter of taste what amount of snow is to be considered enough, it still is an artistic choise made by the filmmakers and I'm appalled that you even suggest touching it.

Of course I have respect for the classics! Bambi is one of my favorite original Disney films. I understand that back when the movie was in production, technology wasn't near as good as it is now. I was kidding to a point. I do think the snow nearly blocks out the characters, but I know that they probably wouldn't be able to remove any of the snow.

However, the issue with the snow has absolutely nothing to do with technology now and/or then. To me, the scene in question has always been and will aways be one of the greatest pieces of effects animation ever. It's beyond perfect the way it is. You know, you don't see people very well when it's really snowing a lot in real life, either.
