It's interesting you should bring up Winnie the Pooh, because the coda at the end of "Many Adventures" where Christopher Robin discusses going to school had the exact same intention.
Christopher Robin was growing up, and wasn't going to "visit" with his pre-school imaginary friends as much, as he would now be getting real friends at school, and, it was implied would eventually stop visiting them altogether.
But of course, we've had loads of new Pooh, with and without Christopher Robin (which, in itself is pretty meaningless, being as Pooh and friends are only toys in Christoper Robin's bedroom, and only come alive in his imagination)
Ha. Logic. Who needs it?

Wow I never thought about the Winnie the Pooh Stories like that. Now that you mention it. It does seem werid, but I guess the magic does have to live on. I still love my Pooh bear.

Well, I can't see how that can be true. If a sequel can ruin an original, then the originals aren't really owrth watching then, are they? I can't stand the Beauty and the Beast sequels, but I still think the original is brilliant.
It cheapens the characters, and in the eyes of the
general public, if the sequel was bad, than their fond memories of the original movies were probably just because they were once kids. People get turned off seeing the original because of their experience with the sequel.
Well, I hated
Belle's Magical World and
The Lion King 2, but I like
Beauty and the Beast and
The Lion King (original) as much as I have done before I witnessed those pieces of poo.

More on Disney's animation future, sequels to Pixar's films
In what appears to be an extended version of last week's article from the Orlando Sentinel, Magical Mountain has a bit more on Disney's new Glendale-based unit created for sequels to Pixar's films. According to the article, a proposed script Toy Story 3 was "so good" that it is getting serious consideration for Toy Story 4. In fact, around 40 screenwriters have pitched sequel ideas for Finding Nemo and Monsters, Inc. to Disney executives. Disney animation chief David Stainton declined to comment on the new studio's plans, instead speaking on Disney's core animation unit. Stainton comments, "The energy of the place has really improved." Additionally, studio chief Dick Cook states, "Our momentum is back. There's enthusiasm and commitment to regain our rightful place as the leader in animation."
Oh, man I thought Disney learned that without Pixar Toy Story 3 would flop and now they're making anther sequel. I really hope both Toy Story 3 and 4 are directed to video and not shown in theaters.

I wouldn't say it will flop without Pixar. I'm skeptical to think it will be as good, but all they need is those recognizable characters to draw in crowds. Favorable word-of-mouth and critical acclaim will help in the long run, but the name alone could probably assure the opposite of a flop.

Hey, Luke what will happen if not all the voice original cast members return?

No matter what Disney has in mind good or bad it will be forever be called the Toy Story without Pixar. And so this franchise will be forever marked.
And besides:
1)We don't need another Toy Story film... or a fourth. Disney will just degrade it for the sake to compete with the Shrek films.
2) It's not that Toy Story 2 is better than Woody. It's just that both of these films complement each other perfectly. So a third is WAY out of place.
3) And they will ruin that sweet and perfect ending for Toy Story 2:
Buzz: " You still worried?"
Woody: "About Andy? Nah. It'll be fun while it lasts."
Buzz: "I'm proud of you cowboy"
Woody: "Besides when it all ends, I'll have old Buzz Lightyear to keep me company... for infinity and beyond"

Well the last Toy Story movie that didn't mention any cast members' names in ads grossed $191 million domestically, if you want a reference frame. That said, that same film had glowing reviews and great word-of-mouth.

So, Luke are you supporting cheap sequels?

If "supporting cheap sequels" means not foolishly thinking they'll "flop", then I guess I'm guilty as charged. I don't think a Toy Story 3 should be made without Pixar, but I'd like to see a new sequel done right.

Only if Pixar would support Disney I would really enjoy Toy Story 3 and 4 more.
I'm still going to buy it Luke. I'm guilty of that.

I'll probably end up buying it to if it's good although I have doubts that it will be as great as the first two. As Luke said, there is no way it could bomb as far as popularity... if the sequels can do well then it's obvious this will.

Oh My God! My idea of Toy Story 3 would be........uh......... I don't know, but definitely not Buzz going back to Taiwan! I mean, that would either mean that :
1) Buzz stays in Taiwan and the Toys are forced to live without him forever
2)The toys go to Taiwan to rescue Buzz, which is basically impossible.
This has got to be a cruel, cruel joke. And I thought UD was supposed to be the good guys!

Am I the only one who thinks that the story may focus on the second Buzz, from Toy Story II? I don't see all the Buzz's who were already bought being recalled, but maybe the ones that weren't sold are shipped back. This way, Disney doesn't have to bring back any of the original cast besides Tim Allen, and they use a character who people know already. I don't like the plot, but I still think this is one direction they could go in if Tom Hanks doesn't want to come back.

Luke, it's either "yes" or either "no"!
I, too, don't think Disney should carry on without Pixar..

Just having Buzz (and the deluded Buzz, at that) would reduce the appeal significantly. It may be easier for Disney that way, but I think in order to get the immediate audience draw, they would need the whole gang. There was that "Buzz Lightyear of Star Command" TV show (and DTV pilot) and as far as I know, those never really caught on too well. Then again, it was 2-D, of course!

The more I get to thinking about the plot for Toy Story III sounds a lot like Toy Story II , minus the part of Woody being recalled, but it was all about Woody being kiddnapped and close to being shiped away to a museum wasnt in it in Taiwan ? I mean if its like that it really dosnet feel like sequal just more of a repetion of what happened some what in the 2nd one just with the other main character. Anyone else notice the similiarties
