question? what question? you're the only one who's asking questions!
And yes we all know you meant the Zoom button on your SONY WIDESCREEN TV, we skipped player's zoom buttons discussions.
If you have any more questions please read the answers to your questions before asking them
Escapay, you took that long to see it was a pan/scan?
The reason you see variations in screenshot vertical areas are often various. mvealf's screenshots were taken direct from his tv that had some overscan; this Cinemascope 2.55 transfer made from the negatives not only shows more width than the cropped 2.35 previous one, it also shows more vertical image , particulary in the bottom, judging from some of the screen cap comparisons I've seen; also, on top of that, a transfer may use a slightly diferent sliver of area from the camera image in the negative cus the Camera Aperture is always bigger than the precise intended Projector Aperture (usually 5% bigger than the Projector intended Aperture) so in a new scan this might be positioned slighly different (That's why the Camera Aperture (or "hole") is slightly bigger, accounts for any mechanical errors in printing/scanning); and last but not least, sometimes the captures are not from the exact, same, frame! ok?

I think we're splitting hairs by now.
I guess you didn't read Paka's post pointing to a possible, easy, source for the Academy version. Shucks...

Wow, Luke! Now, that is what I call in-depth! I think that is possibly the most in-depth review I have ever read on a Disney film! Great job! You have just made the wait for this release, even harder. I LOVE this film, and have been waiting for a better release. I am so happy to be replacing my Limited Issue copy with this! The restoration of the film looks amazing, according to the great pictures you have posted. Also, I agree that the photos you have posted for the full frame version does not appear to be the Academy ratio. Like you, I believe that would have required the restoration of the film, twice. At any rate, when you can have the beautiful CinemaScope ratio, there is no need for this full frame version.
Oh, I can't wait to get this DVD! Again, thanks for the great review!

there was a part on the i think 98 rerelease on vhs right after aunt sarah throws lady out of the room lady starts walking down the stairs and looks back and makes a face
if i remember correctly it was because aunt sarah was singing badly but the sound of her singing isnt there
so i was wondering if they fixed that part

Does anyone know what the prices are for LATT at Best Buy, Circuit City, and so on? I remember someone posting the prices for a DVD before it was in the Sunday Ad. I'm anxious to know what they're going to give for free for purchasing LATT.

Dear Luke,
thank you for making me way more anxious that I was before.
No, but in all seriousness, I know I never really comment about the reviews around here, but they're all really awesome. To this point, however, you need the Golden Mickey for this one .

Well my 1980s VHS also has Aunt Sarah singing "Rock a bye Baby", but Yes this part of the soundtrack is COMPLETELY MISSING from the new DVD!
Outrage!

I can confirm the singing is on the previous R1 Limited Edition release (which actually has a stunning picture too, though not quite as good as the new release).

Great review, Luke! As others have said, it was
extremely in-depth and made for an absolutely fascinating read. I really can't wait for this DVD, even if it's continuing Cinderella's light-weight/no commentary trend

. Thanks for all the time you put in to watching everything, getting so many great screencaps, and writing so much to answer all our questions... and getting all that done at lightning speed too.
Magicalwands, I haven't seen any prices yet... it'll probably be a few days before we see those. I do know that most retailers will be giving away a plush doll (your choice of either Lady or Tramp)... Toys R Us for sure, and I would suspect Best Buy, Walmart, and probably others too. Also, a lot of stores will be doing tie-in promotions for things like dog food. I'm sure Kroger will do their usual "Dinner & a Movie" and other merchandise/food tie-in promotions will abound at other retailers too.

Yeah, I guess I was stubbornly hoping that the fullscreen would still be Academy even though all the signs pointed to P&S, lol.
Anyways, read the review, Lukester, and as usual, top-notch dancing-elephant-worthy job!

Lars Vermundsberget wrote:The "Academy Version" of LatT was released on laserdisc in the late 90s. I'll consider looking it up (on eBay). Could a picture of the cover be found anywhere...? I've forgotten how that particular edition looks.
You can look up the cover at
http://lddb.com/
Here's a direct link to the page for that specific disc:
http://japanld.free.fr/laserdisc.php?id=8440
(Click on the cover for a high resolution scan!)
The disc can also be identified by its number 14673AS.
As far as I can tell, none of the discs offered at eBay right now are the correct version.

Tackar så mycket - exactly what I was looking for.
And, yes, the covers I could see on eBay looked like an older design.

Circuit City - $14.99 (comes with "Go Fetch" cards for free, while supplies last)

Does any one have any details on the contents of WalMart's special CD that comes as an extra with the LATT Platinum Edition? They're selling the normal edition as well as a package with the extra CD.

Interesting. My guess is it's similar to the Lady and the Tramp & Friends CD that's coming out and/or the compilation CD that accompanied the Cinderella DVD at Wal-Mart (i.e. probably not a big incentive if you already own standard Disney songs on any other release).

About this Walmart Special Package... I live in Brazil but I'm going to Orlando this Sunday, and, of course, I WILL buy the Platinum Edition of Lady and the Tramp, specially because Brazil will only receive the 1-disc edition... Well, what I want to know is if the Walmart edition (with the cd) will also come with the slipcover, because, if it don't, I won't be buying there... and, do you guys think that Best Buy will also offer something with the dvd? Thanks fot the attention!
