Interesting points Netty, but I disagree with you.
1. I think the adults really like a movie because it's great for kids but then can find themselves enjoying parts of it. But those sequels they won't like no matter how much the kids do.
2. Yes Walt was a buissness man, but sequels wouldn't be his answer. Sure he made a sequel to The Three Little Pigs and even planned several sequels to Fantasia(which inspired Fantasia 2000) but I don't think he'd make sequels to his classics! He would do something else that would help him with his buissness but cheapquels wouldn't be the answer I'm sure!
3. I think The Chornicles of Narnia movies are needed. Because they add more interest to the books and they can still like the books better but love the movies too! The sequels are not needed because of how bad they are. Other films are needed because they can be good and since people liked the books they can like the films!

1. I agree with you completely, Timon.
2. He made a sequel to "The Three Little Pigs"?
3. I agree with you, Timon, on this and I have more information to add. In a way, the movie is a good advertisment for the books--when I went to Borders they had a display of all the Narnia books, and I have a feeling this was because of the movie coming out in the winter.

LOL!
Companies don't push the level of creativity, individuals do.

I agree with chaychay in disagreeing with 2099net's points, as it is my belief that aside from animation, there's a lot for adults (chay forgot to mention those villains too

) in these films. However, to use these films as a basis for bashing
Cinderella 2 which was generally intended to keep kids occupied as opposed to being a fun film for all the family is unfair, as it's inevitable that the sequel will fade in front of the original slightly.
Also, doesn't
The Princess Diaries have music in the form of a mixture of pop songs being used as mood music in the background? I haven't seen it, but films like that normally do.
Plus, who said that films intended for five year olds aren't good for adults?

I've Never Seen Cinderella 2, and I Imagine It Is Probably not Good. I Did Enjoy Return To Neverland, Lady and the Tramp 2, Lion King 2: Simba's Pride and Rescuers Down Under.

Those movies are quite different. Watch something like
Tarzan and Janeor
Belle's Magical World if you want an idea of what the movie is like before you see it.

I didn't forget the villians. There aren't any villians in
The Princess Diaries except for Lana who is a weak villian compared to the Queen or Malefincent. Yes,
The Princess Diaries has pop songs, but these songs are completely different than say "Once Upon a Dream" or "High-Ho." The songs/music from
Snow White and
Sleeping Beautyare sung by the characters and the movie plays the full song, compared to the three-second song played when Mia and Clarisse are driving on the Golden Gate Bridge.

Yes he did! He did it because audiences really wanted him too. Even though he did the sequel he never liked the idea. He even said: "How can you top pigs with pigs?" Now doesn't that sound like good old Walt!

It sounds a little interesting.
Going back to the original topic, I found this review of

There is actually more than one sequel
There was:
The Three Little Pigs (1933)
The Big Bad Wolf (1934)
Three Little Wolves (1936)
The Practical Pig (1939)
and some would also count:
The Thrify Pig (1943 ish)
They are all really good, my favourite would probably be Three Little Wolves, and all are availble on the Silly Symphonies DVD, The Thrifty Pig is on the On the Front Lines DVD.
Also I hate with a passion anyone who uses the "Walt didn't like or do sequels". Sure he may not have liked them, but he saw that people wanted them and he could make money out of them, so he made them!
There are many sequels Walt made over the years.
This is absolutely no different from what Eisner is doing tody! he does them simply because they are profitable.

HATE ME!
Well if people want sequels, no way i coudl disagree with Disney if they made it, but they have to make them GOOD (which Pigs sequels were indeed), make them with an original plot and exciting storylines ( I don't give a sh.t of Tarzan as a brat, i want to see him grownup, in exciting adventures Burroughs wrote, i don't give a sh.t of Ariel's stupid daughter, nor Mulan' and Shang's love disagremments-i want to see Mulan as she was in the first movie not like in a cheap love TVshow.). I wouldn't hate those producst from ToonStudios if they were as good or better than the first movie, only Pixar achieved this in the animation industry with the excellent Toy2.

I've always wondered if it wasn't really about the fact that Walt "didn't like" sequels, but if it was more about the fact that he didn't have the patience or attention span to continue with something that he had already felt he had finished, and that makes perfect sense to me for someone with his personality. Know what I mean? That just seems like the kind of person he was. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he were still around and had access to a studio like DisneyToons, that maybe he'd give them sequel material to work on while he focused elsewhere (like what he could do with the internet)!
Like I said earlier in this thread, it's a sad fact that Walt hasn't been around for four decades now so we have no way to assume what he'd be doing if he were still around today. Times have changed.
KinOO, I asked you once in another thread if you've even seen Tarzan II; let me ask you again. Or are you basing your opinion solely on UD's review, or is it more based on your predetermined opinion that the sequels are automatically gonna suck?
