Loved the movie.

As a fan of Treasure Island I thought this was a very nice effort to retell the tale with a futuristic spin. Disney even managed to make the villain an extremely likable character in this one.

It's definitely a film I can watch anytime and never tire of it.

I just fell in LOVE with it. No reasons why, but it happened. I ONLY PRAY DISNEY WON'T DECIDE TO PRODUCE THE SECOND PART!!!!!!Cause as a rule it would be desperately terrible (besides some exceptions). As for the characters, i enjoyed that Cat Captain (Catanamelia??? I couldn't hear properly because of ukrainian translation) and Silver (a-a-h... ) Of course all of them are brilliant. Disney showed us once again some truth of life - those talks about "you must choose your own path" in Pocahontas and "wind in your sails, good deeds etc" in Treasure Planet. I'm a sceptic and critically minded person, so I thought remaking fabulous classics as Stevenson, especially in such a strange way, is an utterly bad idea. Movie impressed me much, despite that it has some moments that are scientifically impossible - animals (whales??) swimming and breathing in open space... Sailing using sun energy is possible (but it requires A LOT OF ENERGY, much more than those sails in movie can produce and can't happen for long distances), and I wonder how did they breathe? Gravity shield of the ship could keep some air (I can't imagine how ), but it was turned off twice (or once-don't remember). So after watching it kids would think wrong about universe laws of Physics and nature ...STILL I LOVE IT!

I need to give this a second chance. I watched this expecting something totally different (ahem, musical) and was obviously disappointed. By the time I approaced Atlantis I knew what to expect and absoloutely loved it! I'm hopeful it will be the same with this movie after a second viewing!

That shows how different we are. I loved Treasure Planet but didn't really like Atlantis. The problem I have with Atlantis is how the characters were so 2-dimesional. None of the characters were colorful and you couldn't relate to them very well. As for TP I really could relate to Jim and all the problems he went through. Not only that but the characters were all pretty colorful. My favorites being Doctor Doppler and B.E.N!

I think that Treasure Planet was and is an amazing movie, I think everything about it makes me think that this movie will be one that will be remembered in the very distant future... The characters are amazing and very appealing! I absolutely love Morph, how great is he/she I think this definately ranks up there with the top Disney movies... I think compared to the era and the way Disney movies are supposedly going Down Hill this movie is very, very good...

A lot of people do not think highly of several newer Disney's among which is Treasure Planet.

I don't get why really, apart from the fact it is not about a headstrong independant young woman who -while singing her heart out every 20 mins.- meets her prince charming and escapes her environmental bonds.

I watched TP for the first in a period in my life when i wasn't all that into animated movies. I didn't read any reviews, hadn't seen previews etc.
In short i had no expectations and was entirely open minded.

What i experienced kinda blowed me away and got my attention from start to finish.
The artwork is real quality (sometimes a bit much computer aided) and brings some stunning vistas to life. The imagination has ran wild in retro-futuristic combinations of environment and characters. The story has proven itself long ago. The only regretteble trend for me was the decline of songs and singing which i think should still be enjoyed in any movie.

Yes, it's adventurous rather than romantic/musical but a very quality movie in it's own right.

This movie comes from the creators of The Little Mermaid, Aladin and Hercules. Movies that can hardly do any wrong with anybody. Its creators had wanted to do TP since the 80's but got turned down by decision makers over and over. After the 3 succesfull movies mentioned ofcourse Roy Disney would support their effort. These movies show the quality in production and storytelling of its creators and i think TP is no exception.

I do think however TP is different from the family-type classics Disney usually made and thats why it got a lot of bad reviews. Me also thinks that a lot of people have been influenced by these bad reviews or else by what they expect or want to see in a Disney movie.

If you look at this movie with an open mind and no pre-set expectations of how a Disney movie should be packaged, you can't deny its class.

Do it! Before you're an old geezer and have to hear your grandson point out to you what a classic TP really is and how fortunate you have been to be there at its time of release and creation.....And you realise you just never saw it because the movie was not what you were used to or expected at the time........Remember Pinoccio and Fantasia almost killing the Disney studios or Lady and the Tramp getting bad reviews.....now we don't hesitate to name them some of the best classics ever.....Don't let history repeat itself.....

I enjoyed treasure planet a lot, it was a good film to watch and i like how jim and john silver's relationship developed throughout the movie. I think a lot of the hate toward this movie was from people who read the book. Yes, there are differences between the book and this film, but i wasn't too bothered by it like other people were.

I rented Treasure Planet in fall of 2004. I LOVED it. In fact I spent a long time afterwards looking for it on DVD @ Walmart or Target or any place that sells DVDs. (Or even hoping that Blockbuster would have a previous watched copy that I could buy. That's how I got "A Cinderella Story" w/ H. Duff) Best Buy is charging too much for it (I think $25) and the cheapest I saw it was $19.95. I am hoping its going to have a rerelease soon.

I loved Treasure Planet, especially Morph, one of the main reasons why I love it so much is because it's underappreciated, it's something different from the usual Princess meets Prince, fall in love and live Happily Ever After. It's definatly in my top 10 favs.

Yippy! I've only seen this movie once. It's due to air May 12th, at 8/7 pm central. I'm excited! I don't see why this movie is so underrated. Why is that? It looks great.

Treasure Planet wasn't one of Disney best films but it was worth to watch and to own.

Hands down, Disney's best movie since "The Lion King", I think it's even better than all 6 Pixar films!

The animation- Terrific! I couldn't tell what was hand-drawn or CGI at times.

The characters- Extremely likeable and voiced perfectly with a perfect voice cast.

Thes story- A wonderful new look at a classic novel. It's a totally different story, yet at the same time, being a completely new one!

The music, fabulous! Breathtaking score with 1 original song("I'm Still Here") and fits perfectly with the mood of the story!

And then finally, the emotions, brilliant! I could somewhat relate to Jim's story so maybe that why, but the emotions between Jim and Silver work perfectly, and makes a better father/son relationship than "Pixar's Greatest Hits"! Err, I meant Finding Nemo!

Overall, may not be for everyone, but if your tired of the typical "buddy comedy" with famous celebrity voices and burp/fart jokes or pop culture references, THIS IS THE MOVIES FOR YOU!!!!

I've never seen it myself. I'll actually be home to be able to watch it. I come home from school the day before (Thursday May 11). I'll try and remember to watch it.

I prefer the live-action Treasure Island (1950) over the animated Treasure Planet. Treasure Island is really exciting and it has lots of action. Treasure Planet just seems really strange to me. I can't get over ships flying through space. I do like the animated version but it lacks the thrill of the fighting in the original live-action film.

Treasure Planet is worth having on DVD, IMO. But it hardly improves upon the somewhat lagging average of the "Disney Classics" of recent years.

One of my least favorite Disney films ever, sorry to be so negative.

From what I remember from my first, and only, viewing of this movie, I thought that it looked incredible. The animation was really good, and so was the CGI. I liked the characters, they were enjoyable, especially the shapeshifter thingy. I think it's name is Morph. Anyway, I can't wait till next Friday, May 12th.

this is my 4th fave disney classic the first time i saw it i was amazed "i'm still here" is like my fave disney song and it's so emotional that it makes me cry a little when we see the flashbacks i have it on video and i plan on getting the dvd soon

Only 4 more days left to the premiere! Remeber y'all 8/7 central. Hang on! This complicates things. On Friday I will be at a party from 6 to 9 in the PM. So I'll miss most of the viewing. I am probably going to DVR it. But I also want to tape a new episode of Degrassi: The Next Generation. And for all y'all who don't know it, Degrassi is my second favorite show. The first is The Emperor's New School, I know it's corny, but I like it. And I don't know if I am taping Avatar: The Last Airbender. So I'm taping 3 things, with 2 TVs that have DVR. Maybe if I tape them at a different time. I think Degrassi's on at 12 in the AM, so if I tape Treasure Planet at 8 in the PM, on 1 TV, and Avatar on the other. I should be good......... Oh, yeah, only 4 more days!
