I thought it was a rediculous plot for a story too...

i have just one comment for the ppl thinking the plot is rediculous... do you support toy story? it's basically the same... just with lawn ornaments instead of toys. Personally i think it could work. I'd prefer for it to be about "real" gnomes, but i'll settle.

I like gnomes, I really do, but I think "lawn gnomes" or "cermic gnomes" is really silly... why not just make "gnomes". I've not seen Toy Story (really must rent the newer Disney), but I think it "works" bc as kids we believe our toys are "alive", that they are "real"... I've just never pictured my garden gnome sprinigng to life to carry on a Romeo & Juliet scenario w/my other garden ornaments...

you didn't think that your lawn ornaments came to life... lol jk. i see what you're getting. Honestly though, if they are going for a comedy... lawn ornaments would be more rediculous that real gnomes which may be why they chose it! I think that with a really good script, they could pull it off well!

For a very humurous movie, a good script, yes they could pull it off, although I would think it would be more adult oriented that kid oriented... anyone w/a great imagination can picture there say... lawn gnome, springing to life, hopping on the lawn frog and running around the well, lawn... well, maybe not.

Well come to think of it how can a orge be interesting!

Anyways thee music by Elton John and Tim Rice is enough to make me excited to see this movie. Lets hope this becomes more popular than Shrek!(I highly doubt it though! :( )

Can't believe I'm agreeing with Eisner and disagreeing with Don Hahn, but I think this movie sounds kinda dumb.

Well, sometimes things that seem so stupid and unordinary make the best films. I have high hopes for this film (and it's weird, we just finished reading the play in school.) I personally hope they add their own twist to it and make it a good film.

One question:

Does Pixar is involved on it?Because if it isn´t, I don´t wait a lot of it, but a bad movie

No they're not, this is a strict Disney production only.

I believe Elton John was/is (depending on which story you believe) writing songs for the film.

Gnomeo and Juliet is being made by Starz Animation (the company that made "9") and Rocket Films.

http://www.starzanimation.com/OurWork/I ... uliet.html

here's another article I found explaining why Disney is involved.
on Tuesday February 9th the senior Digital Animation class took a trip to Starz Animation, the production studio of “9″. They toured the production areas and explored Starz current pipeline for Gnomeo & Juliet. Many thanks to Jason, Lance and Rob for taking the time with us. Gnomeo & Juliette is an animated feature from Disney. It features the songs of Elton John (who also also acts as a producer), and features James McAvoy and Emily Blunt as two garden gnomes in a twist on Shakespear’s classic tale. ( I have to stop here as I signed the non-disclosure agreement.)

My guess now is that Disney is only distributing this, much like "In the Wild" or "Valiant".

here's a colored logo and concept art

The CG animation for '9' was one of the best I've ever seen. That's at least one positive point for this movie.

Though I wonder why Disney is still involved with this, seeing how the Miramax sale is almost final.

Well, they still could release it under Touchstone instead of Miramax.
