The Emperors New Groove is prob the funniest animated feature (thats classified as a disney animated masterpiece) to come out of the company. They couldnt have picked a better cast either!
much love to herc-it was funny, hades was hilarious-but i love Kuzco-so much, I named my cat after him!

Hands down, "Emperor's New Groove"...it's clever, it's witty and overall it's probably one of the best Disney film to come out in the last 20 years...as funny as "Hercules" tries to be, this movie kicks it's superhero butt all over the place. Don't get me wrong...I thought some parts of "Hercules" were quite good...the animation was great and alot of the vocal castings were dead on, but there was just a heck of alot about the film could've been done sooo much better, such as DITCH THE CHEEZY SONGS!!!! C'mon, Disney...is it an iron clad rule that every single animated feature MUST be a musical even if it's detrimental to the plot? Are you guys THAT anxious to grab up them extra "soundtrack" CD dollars just in case the movie don't do all that great? Also, I was'nt all that thrilled with the character design of Meg....waaaaay too harsh and not at all appealing, especially when you have her singing a sincere and heartfelt ballad and she STILL has a smirk on her face! Nope...not good at all.
"Emperor's" is practically flawless in my opinion....as said, the voices are spot on, the humor is bent over double belly laugh funny (the bit with the squirrel ALONE makes this worth watching over and over again)and the animation is just terrific....it's got one song in it and it fits in perfectly by doing what the heck it's supposed to do...HELP TO TELL THE STORY WITHOUT GETTING IN THE WAY!!! It's a joy from start to finish and certainly did'nt deserve the lack of attention from "Eisney" when it came to it's theatrical release...SHAME ON YOU, MOUSE HOUSE!

I didn't think the songs in the movie were cheesy at all. The only one that felt out of place was "One Last Hope." The rest were fine. In fact, I liked them more than most other Disney 'musicals.'
Also, Megara was my favorite character of the whole movie (and I like all of them), so I guess she wasn't that bad. I'm kind of glad they went a different way with the girl in this movie. Pocahontas and Jane were both annoying, and I was glad to see they made the girl in this movie somewhat intelligent but not obsessed. And I thought it was admirable that she DIED. Even if she was brought back to life, that doesn't change the fact that she gave her life up to fix her own mistakes. Megara's much more realistic than any of those other girls Disney has in there movies who are all chirpy and giggly 3.9/4 of the movie. Not to mention, Megara had a real past, rather than I want this, I want that, blah blah blah. Unlike the others, she thought about the consequences of her actions
Even so, TENG was the funniest, but Hercules was definitely my favorite out of the two.

TENG is funnier, yes, but Hercules is a much better film, IMO. TENG had comedy and celebrity voices, but nothing else. The animation was horrible (he so did not look like a llama!), there were no good songs, no romance, and the story was just plain idiotic! I really don't know what the filmmakers were high on when they made this movie. I would expect something like this from Dreamworks, but not Disney.

Exactly. And that's why it worked. The style was so bordering on Animaniacs/Freakazoid that it blew me away with the type of humor that you will probably NEVER again see on a Disney movie. It was very Warner Brothers influenced in my opinion.
The Emperor's New Groove is one of those Disney franchises that will probably fall into obscurity and remain a cult favorite of many. May be the characters won't get exposure the type Lilo and Stitch seems to get as far as spin offs anf direct to video sequels, but it's a shame to see Disney not using the ENG characters on the theme parks or Disney resorts (they do have an Aztec themed pool in one of their hotels).
Regarding Hercules, it was a pretty good Disney effort. The humor was good and the story was alright but it just didn't grab me like ENG.

The Emperor's New Groove is much more funny. But I thought that
Hercules was a better movie overall. Both are underated.

Actually I was refering to the design OF the character, not the character itself....AS a character,I agree with you... Meg was great! Self assured, independent and yes intelligent, she's a definite breath of fresh air compared to the usual vapid heroine in distress..I just wish they could've come up with something that did her justice...like a face that actually showed a different expression when her moods changed rather than one of the flat, motionless look of permanent scorn even when she was happy.

Both were good but The Emperor's New Groove was much more funnier. Plus it's a very enjoyable movie to watch no matter what you're feeling like. You have to be in the right mood to watch Hercules!

I actually thought that her whole design went along with the movie well. The only part of true happiness she had was when Hercules brought her back to life and/or when he gave up his immortality for her. Considering I'm sure she probably had a lot of what a therapist would call "emotional baggage," I wasn't that surprised by her expressions.

My favorite was
The Emperor's New Groove but Hercules was definately a better story. (And I won't go into compare/contrasts from the movie and the myths...

I think the plot detailed on this site would have been better for TENG. It has one thing the actual movie sorely lacks: a love interest! Plus, I think
Kingdom in the Sun is a much better title.

Emperor's New Groove, without a doubt. It's one of my all time favorites.
"Tell us where the talking llama is, and we'll burn your house to the ground."
"Uhh, don't you mean 'or'?"
"Ugh! Tell us where the talking llama is, OR we'll burn your house to the ground!"
"Well, which is it? That seems like a pretty crucial conjunction!"

The Emperor's New Groove, of course. There's something about Hercules that's just not Disney, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but a classic story like this deserved a lot more effort. The Emperor's New Groove was pure irreverant humor, whereas Hercules was tried, formulaic humor. Don't even get me started on the songs and score, probably the worst of the eight Broadway-style Disney musicals.
