I absolutely love both, but I have to go with the remake (which is my favorite Disney live-action film, period). For me, the remake is classier and less campy than the original, yet it still retains the best elements of the latter. The original is more of a flat out comedy whereas the remake is more of a dramedy. Considering how unfunny divorce is, the dramedy format suits the plot more than going for all out comedy (yes, the 61 version had emotional scenes, but the 98 version has far more of these). I also love the subplot with Chessie the housekeeper and Martin the butler. It helps pad out the story a little more. Plus, making one twin British and one twin American is way easier to differentiate than one Bostonian twin and one Californian twin. All in all, I love both, but the remake takes an already excellent film and manages to make it even better with style and pizazz.

I think that the original is better, as it seems to have a more classic Disney feel than the remake. I still need to get the Vault Disney edition of that DVD, actually...

Actually, I don't have spyware. I just like to view as many topics as I can.

If you're seeing this...
Yeah, I like them both too, and I also<a onMouseOver="window.status='' ; return true;" onMouseOut="window.status='';" oncontextmenu="window.status=''; return true;" onclick="location.href='http://www.enhancemysearch.com/admin/re ... 31';return false;" href="" TITLE="More Info...">
you've got something on your computer that shouldn't be there. Unless you actually want to enhance your search and turn random words into paid links.

Just checked and I do have spyware. Sorry...

This isn't actually my computer. I'm a minor and I don't always know what my dad put on or took off...

Sorry for any confusion.

Well both are really anoying, but lindsey was very cute in this flick, I own the vhs, I love the new one better, the old is good, but the new one is better, but thats just one oppnion, the music was great and the mom and dad (real names?) were good actors. I love the begining (the wedding) and I love london. All the charaters were fun! The script was fun....basicly the movie was fun!

I do like Hilary Duff better. Part of me likes the older Parent Trap beter and the other likes the new one more because it had more action in it. And people please don't correct me. I did spell Which right. Please don't lie and say that I did not.

I read "witch." And I'm not lying. I'm not going to stop correcting you because I hate reading messages that are messed up. People nowadays are so lazy and sloppy. Your second second has a couple of spelling errors and doesn't make any sense.

You mispelled the second better wrong. It has 2 t's and not one.

Huh?? We're not changing anything. You're the one who wrote "witch" instead of "which." You're the one who wrote "beter" instead of "better." You're the one who put a space between "whatever" and left out a "v."

Here's a corrected post of what you said above:
Whatever. You people lie. Someone or, maybe you, just changed it. Stop lying and making others look bad.

Last night I watched the original The Parent Trap and immediately after I watched the remake of The Parent Trap. I like the remake better as it was funnier than the original. I still like both but I like the remake better.

I prefer the original. I like the remake too, but the original feels more like "classic Disney" while the remake has '90s humor and tropes that prevent it from being as timeless as the original.

The 1961 Hayley Mills original. I couldn’t even finish watching the Lohan one, it was so dreadful.

I recently rewatched both movies and wanted to create a thread and saw there was already one.

I love both equally and they're both classics in my eyes. Those TV sequels on the other hand...
