When I do rent, I rent movies at the local library. They have 1,000's of movies. Anything you want they have.

I rent from Netflix. It's so much easier to put the movie back in the mailbox rather then driving to a store. Plus, they have a better selection then all the local rental stores and it's alot cheaper.

I don't rent DVDs anywhere, I don't really have the money. Netflix really is an expensive habit if you have to watch every penny you earn as closely as I do. Maybe I'll get into Netflix or whatever next year. Also, for me, renting DVDs is like renting anything else- it's kind of cheaper to buy. Plus, I'm into collecting. I don't like putting anything used in my DVD player. In fact, I rarely ever buy used DVDs. Only once so far.

Actually we have this friend of ours that buys dvds like crazy so he lends us a lot of his dvds. But we also go to this small independent video store down the street from us. It's very cheap.

What are the rental rates at Blockbuster? Is there just a rate the same for every movie or is it cheaper for kids movies? Do you get a discount if you rent more than one movie, kids or other?

I'm telling ya, Netflix is the way to go! You can get 3 out at a time for $19.07 a month (that includes tax), once you send it back, they send the next one in your queue, I must get at least 22 + DVD's a month through them, take x$4 at a rental place and you'll see how much money I save!

I have enough movies to satisfy my tastes.

But when my friends and I just feel that renting a movie is a great idea, we usually head off to Blockbuster Video. Sometimes I go to Hollywood Video depending on the layout of the store.

I very rarely rent, mainly because I get so many discs to review, and I have cable.

I tend to buy the rest of the DVDs.

I have made a GRAND Discovery...
The university we attend allows students to rent DVDs for 4 days. Free, of course. ;) But the maximum you can rent is only 4 DVDs.
It's awesome and they have great titles, and if you're lazy like me, you can place them on "hold" then physically check them out the same week! :D

The local public library charges $20.00 for a year and you can rent as many DVDs you want for 5 days? or 1 week..I'm not sure.

S.D. is awesome! 8)
Doesn't matter, I don't rent. :p I buy!

Blockbuster Online is $3/month cheaper, but yeah, same deal for me.

This statement caught my eye. Is that $20 for a year in US funds. I don't pay anything for my library card.

I just came back from Roges Video and I rented 3 movies.

Toy Story
Toy Story 2
Monsters, Inc.

All Pixar as I want to watch them all. After these 3, I still have to watch A Bug's Life.

I used to live near a HUGE library which you could rent movies for free, but alas, when I was 18 we moved and since then I've lived near small librarys w/no video's. Netflix is lifesaver!
