I Don't think it was a bad movie! It was good.
But you should hope and wait for the 2-Disc.
Maybe the bonus features will make up for the movie being "bad" (for others).

I've read the book and seen other film adaptations of the story. I personally think HOND is great! Like everyone is saying, these Dis Flicks can NEVER follow the book for rote each and everytime. The movie standing alone, by itself, if there was never a book written, I think is really good. I love the music as well. "God Help the Outcasts" is one of my favorite Disney songs ever. I like it because it is bittersweet, not super sappy like lots of the flicks end up being.

No! I am certainly not saying that! I consider this movie to be a masterpiece! It is truly awe inspiring! the opening sequence is jaw dropping! The ominous chanting of "Kyrie Illeison" is beautiful. "Out there" is such a powerful song adnyou truly hate Frollo, I mean saying those things to Quasi's face and the lies he tells! "God Help the Outcasts" is one of the most beautiful songs I think has ever been in a Disney movie! That stained glass window makes me want to cry it's so beautiful! The "Hell Fire" sequence is incredibly brave! The climax is truly one of the most thrilling I have ever seen" I won't spoil it, but is it just undescribable! The glory of the "sanctuary" sequence andin front of the glass window is just sheer artistic poetry! The music swells to just be glorious and powerful! The really feel the drama, and I cried (and that ain't easy to make me cry) the first time I saw it when Quasi thinks that... well you know!
The animation, the design, the music is just magnificent!

I'm listening to "God Help the Outcasts" now, and that is one of the best Disney songs EVER!

Beautiful screencaps, Ichabod (even if they're a bit squished)! If anything, Hunchback needs to be seen for its gorgeous animation. I can't wait to own the inevitable SE since this film is my 3rd favorite Disney film after Alice and Pooh.

Hunchback is definitely one of my favorite Disney movies. I don't understand the venom being spewed at it by some. To the person who ranked it 43, just above Black Caludron (which is underrated), how can you rank tripe like Home on the Range higher? That is by far the worse of the "classics". Anyway, here's a link to rotten tomatoes, which gives Hunchback an 83% fresh rating which is really high.

For the record, that is not the Pumbaa cameo. Pumbaa, tied to a stick as if he had been hunted, is being carried by to men through the square in front of Notre Dame during Out There. It may even be in the same shot as Belle's cameo, but I can't say for certain right now.
The circled gargoyle is patterned after a wild boar or a warthog, but it doesn't look like Pumbaa at all.

I think it's actually spelled "Kyrie Eleison"....I'm not postive,though(I do know it's Latin for "God Have Mercy")
As for Hunchback of Notre Dame,it's one of my favorite Disney movies(and,no,I've never read the book,though I am aware that Disney made alot of changes)....I love the characters,music(esp. "God Help the Outcasts" and "Hellfire".and that it's darker in tone than Disney usually gets...Frollo is one of the creepiest Disney villains,IMO...I also like that while the story has a good ending,it's different than the other films(I don't want to spoil the ending,just in case someone who hasn't seen it is reading this)..

I think the best thing about Frollo as a villain is that he actually believes he is doing the right thing. It's only in the end when his own selfish desires get in the way. Not that I'm saying he isn't evil, it's just on a different level than most other villains.

I loved the Belle cameo. I would've missed it if IMDB.com didn't say she was there. Same goes with Carpet. And yep, that's Pumbaa (from the back, of course).

The Hunchback is a true masterpiece! Although very far from the original book, the movie kept the essence and the extrremely darkness surrounding the characters (the loneliness and pain of Quasimodo, the extreme desire (sexual) of Frollo towards Esmeralda...). The only negative thing i see is that lame Gargoyles musical numbers, i skip it everytime i watched the movie thanks to the DVD technology!

HOND is definitely a masterpiece. It totally blew me away. I don't know what it is about that festival scene where he gets tied up and everyone throws vegetables at him, but I was floored. I think it was almost as powerful as the ballroom scene in BATB or the wildebeest scene in TLK. (Almost.) And I love how dark and mature it is, compared with other Disney films. The only thing I don't like about the movie is the music. It seems like all of the boring songs Alan Menken has ever written are in this movie, because I love all his songs from other movies. It better come out on 2-disc DVD soon.
